What is Twitter saying about the Commanders opening opponent?

No one is high on the Cardinals or Jonathan Gannon’s “motivational” speech.

Observers of the NFL are not exactly being shy about what they are thinking of the Arizona Cardinals.

Reading Twitter Friday night, it was obvious fairly quickly that the Cardinals are becoming the butt of jokes.

The Cardinals are clearly tanking, not leaving to chance that Colt McCoy might pull out a win or two this season. They sent McCoy the pink slip in hopes of getting the first or second overall draft selection in the 2024 NFL draft.

Fans and football media are taking their turns lobbing bombs at the Cardinals organization from the top, to the head coach, to the players on the roster. The over/under for the win total in 2023 for the Cardinals is only at 4.5.

Already the speculation is public that the Cardinals didn’t want to take the chance that veteran quarterback Colt McCoy might actually lead the team to a few wins this season. Now the odds are much better that the Cardinals will finish the 2023 regular season with the highest or second-highest draft selection. This would enable them to draft the quarterback of their future, allowing them to rid themselves of Kyler Murray.

Colt McCoy sparks the Arizona Cardinals to a 27-17 win over the Rams

Colt McCoy shined for the Cardinals on Sunday.

The Arizona Cardinals took down the defending super bowl champion Los Angeles Rams on Sunday behind an excellent performance from backup quarterback Colt McCoy.

In place of the injured Kyler Murray, McCoy shined for the Cardinals’ offense. He finished with an efficient stat line, completing 26 of 37 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown without a turnover.

McCoy’s great start helped the struggling Cardinals get back on track over a division rival and stay in the playoff hunt. The 13-year NFL veteran was ready for his name to be called for the first time this season.

“As a backup, you just never know when your opportunity is going to strike. Quite honestly, I want K-1 to be healthy. He’s a phenomenal player. But in this situation, with linemen out, our backs against the wall, in a division game on the road, I dug deep and was proud to go out there and play as hard as I can.”
