Seahawks sign LB Bruce Irvin to active roster ahead of Cardinals game

The Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of linebacker Bruce Irvin to the 53-man roster ahead of the Week-9 matchup against the Cardinals.

The Seattle Seahawks have announced the signing of linebacker Bruce Irvin to the 53-man roster ahead of the Week-9 matchup against the Cardinals. Irvin fills the empty spot made available when cornerback Sidney Jones was waived earlier in the week.

Irvin joined the Seahawks recently for his third stint in Seattle when he was added to the practice squad last month. Elevated to the roster for the team’s last two matchups, his leadership in the locker room has been invaluable.

“I just think it’s been as obvious as it can get,” coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday when asked about Irvin’s contributions. “He has a presence about him, he’s a tough guy that you can just feel it and know it. He also has the experience that he knows a lot that is going on in the game. Whereas we are trying to elevate our young guys, give them more awareness, spread their ability to see things coming, he’s already there, so he can show them.”

Irvin and the Seahawks are set to square off against the Cardinals in Arizona on Sunday. The final injury report of the week will be released later Friday afternoon.

Seahawks sign Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison to the active roster

The Seattle Seahawks have officially signed defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Seattle Seahawks were busy Monday afternoon, announcing a number of roster moves to start Week 12. Along with placing tight veteran Greg Olsen on injured reserve, Seattle officially promoted Damon “Snacks” Harrison from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Seahawks had first signed Harrison to the practice squad in October to give him time to catch up with his conditioning and game planning. He was elevated twice already to the game-day roster – the max allowed this season.

In addition, it seems some other teams were in the hunt to snag Harrison from Seattle’s practice squad – including the Packers and Ravens – according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

The Seahawks also signed center Brad Lundblade on Monday, filling Harrison’s spot on the practice squad roster. Lundblade has spent time with the Bengals, Jets, Panthers and Seahawks since he entered the league undrafted in 2018.

Bryan Mone’s ankle injury could open door for Damon Harrison

Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Bryan Mone’s ankle injury could open the door for Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison Week 10 against the Rams.

Three Seattle Seahawks suffered ankle sprains in the loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. Of those three — linebacker K.J. Wright, cornerback D.J. Reed and defensive tackle Bryan Mone — only Mone’s appears to be serious. His absence could open the door for Damon Harrison, who is on the practice squad.

“Bryan Mone had a pretty good high ankle sprain, and it’s going be a problem for him,” coach Pete Carroll said Monday. “We’ll see what happens in the next couple days, but that was probably the most serious injury that we had. He got caught up and got cut from behind and tangled up. K.J. bounced back pretty good today, and D.J. Reed’s moving pretty good today too, so the initial look is that it was not a severe ankle at all.”

With Seattle potentially down a defensive tackle, Harrison is a logical option to be elevated before Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

“He’s available, he’s ready to go,” Carroll stated. “The way it looks. We’ve got to have some more information on Bryan’s situation so we can take care of him but this is where Snacks would jump up right now.

“This is what he’s been looking for and preparing for.”

Seattle has plenty of time before needing to make any major decisions. The players have Tuesday off and report back on Wednesday morning.

Seahawks place Lano Hill on injured reserve, promote Damarious Randall

The Seattle Seahawks have placed safety Lano Hill on injured reserve and promoted Damarious Randall to his spot from the practice squad.

The Seattle Seahawks are busy adjusting their roster as they return from the bye week, having gotten a more thorough look at the injury situation. On Wednesday, Seattle placed safety Lano Hill on the injured reserve and promoted Damrious Randall to Hill’s spot on the active roster from the practice squad.

Hill had been battling a back injury that coach Pete Carroll had feared could develop into a long-term issue. The safety had missed the last three games for Seattle.

“Lano’s got some issues with his back that haven’t really turned in the right direction,” Carroll had said Monday. “We’re looking after him right now. He’s not ready to come back yet.”

Because Randall had already been elevated twice this season, Seattle had no choice but to sign him to the 53-man roster to continue to utilize his services on game days.

“He’s a good ballplayer and he’s been around us now enough as he’s starting to dig in,” Carroll said of Randall on Monday. “So I’m excited about what he can add.”

Seattle also signed two linebackers to the practice squad on Wednesday, including former Seahawk Mychal Kendricks.

Shaquem Griffin promoted from practice squad to Seahawks active roster

Linebacker Shaquem Griffin has been promoted from the practice squad to the Seattle Seahawks active roster ahead of the Dolphins contest.

The Seattle Seahawks announced only one roster move Friday afternoon ahead of the team’s departure for Miami where they will face the Dolphins this Sunday for their Week-4 matchup. Seattle has promoted linebacker/defensive end Shaquem Griffin from the practice squad to the active roster.

“He did great this week,” coach Pete Carroll said Monday. “He was hauling butt all over the field. We played him a unique situation that he really handled well. He did a nice job rushing the passer in his other (opportunities) that he had. So I’m looking forward to him continuing to contribute. I was really fired up about his play.

Griffin now joins defensive back Ryan Neal on the 53-man squad after his promotion earlier this week. The Seahawks can still elevate two players from the practice squad, if needed, to complement the roster on game day. One possibility could be defensive back Damarious Randall, who was just signed to the practice squad this week.

Seahawks promote defensive back Ryan Neal to active roster

The Seattle Seahawks have promoted defensive back Ryan Neal from the practice squad to the active roster after his interception Week 3.

Seattle Seahawks defensive back Ryan Neal has been rewarded for his play last week against the Dallas Cowboys, which helped to ensure the team’s 38-31 win. Neal picked off Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott near the end of the fourth quarter on Sunday proving he deserves at least another shot on the active roster. He has now been signed to the 53-man squad.

Neal had been brought up last week ahead of the matchup – along with defensive back/linebacker Shaquem Griffin – as part of the new rules which allow up to two players to be elevated and returned to the practice squad without having to clear waivers.

One spot still remains open on the active roster after Seattle waived linebacker D’Andre Walker on Tuesday.

In addition, the Seahawks executed a couple of practice squad moves, signing defensive back Damarious Randall and linebacker Tim Williams. Seattle also protected Griffin and tight end Stephen Sullivan to ensure they are not signed by any other teams this week.

Seahawks promote Shaquem Griffin and Ryan Neal from practice squad

Defensive end Shaquem Griffin and cornerback Ryan Neal have been activated to the roster ahead of the Seahawks vs. Dallas contest Week. 3.

The Seattle Seahawks announced the promotion of a couple of players from the practice Saturday ahead of Sunday’s Week-3 contest against the Dallas Cowboys. Linebacker/defensive end Shaquem Griffin and cornerback Ryan Neal have been activated to the roster.

Griffin and Neal were both waived during the initial 53-man roster cuts before the first week of the season but were added to the Seahawks’ practice squad the next day.

Due to new rules this season in light of the coronavirus pandemic, two players can be called up each before gameday and will automatically revert back to the practice squad the following day without having to clear waivers.

With Seattle facing so many injuries on the defensive side of the ball, Griffin and Neal will provide much-needed depth for the Seahawks.

Seattle and Dallas are set to square off Sunday at 1:25 p.m. PT from CenturyLink Field. Click here for our gameday preview here for our how to watch post.

Seahawks place 3 players on injured reserve, add 2 from practice squad

The Seahawks have placed Bruce Irvin, Marquise Blair and Phillip Dorsett on the injured reserved ad promoted two from the practice squad.

The Seattle Seahawks announced a number of personnel moves ahead of the start of Wednesday’s practice. Seattle has placed three players on the injured reserve: wide receiver Phillip Dorsett II, defensive back Marquise Blair and linebacker Bruce Irvin.

Blair and Irvin suffered ACL injuries during the Seahawks’ Week-2 win over the Patriots and the roster moves were anticipated. Both will undergo knee surgery and their seasons are now over.

Dorsett, on the other hand, is dealing with a foot injury but is expected to return to the roster after sitting out the mandatory three games this season. Seattle’s early bye this week will allow Dorsett an additional week to recover.

To fill two of the empty spots on the active roster, the Seahawks have promoted cornerback Linden Stephens and defensive tackle Anthony Rush from the practice squad.

After the personnel moves on Wednesday, Seattle has one open roster spot remaining.

Seahawks promote DT Anthony Rush to active roster ahead of Patriots

The Seattle Seahawks have promoted defensive tackle Anthony Rush to the active roster ahead of the Week-2 matchup against the Patriots.

The Seattle Seahawks announced a personnel move Saturday afternoon ahead of the team’s Week-2 matchup against the New England Patriots in prime time. Seattle promoted defensive tackle Anthony Rush from the practice squad to the active roster.

Rush can provide depth along the defensive line Sunday night with Rasheem Green listed as doubtful to play with a neck injury.

Rush was added to the Seahawks practice squad this year after he was waived from the Eagles’ roster during the initial 53-man cuts. He appeared in nine games for Philadelphia last year.

Saints call up Margus Hunt, Bennie Fowler from practice squad vs. Bucs

The New Orelans Saints promoted DE Margus Hunt and WR Bennie Fowler from the practice squad for Sunday’s game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

[jwplayer v4gFWz3M-ThvAeFxT]

The New Orleans Saints promoted two players from their practice squad on Saturday, adding veteran defensive lineman Margus Hunt and wide receiver Bennie Fowler Jr. to their Week 1 game day roster. Both players should be expected to suit up for Sunday’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

One of the changes the NFL adopted this summer in its new collective bargaining agreement with the players union is an expanded active roster on game days, which allows teams to activate two players from the practice squad for a game before they revert back on the following day. Teams are required to promote one player from the practice squad, but can call up a second member if they’ve already dressed eight offensive linemen.

While this isn’t the same thing as a real expanded roster to 55 players, it functions very similarly. The new CBA does account for roster expansion in the years ahead, but the NFL is determined to get there incrementally.

Anyway: Hunt should be a welcome addition in the wake of Marcus Davenport’s injury, putting the eighth-year veteran into the lineup. Hunt has appeared in 95 games in the NFL and should fit right in across from Cameron Jordan. If Fowler is going to also dress out for this game, it means the Saints would have six wide receivers activated: starters Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, third-year pro Tre’Quan Smith, and core special teamers Deonte Harris and Marquez Callaway (a rookie out of Tennessee who flashed as a gunner and return man).

The Saints must be very judicious in how they use these practice squad promotions moving forward. Each member of the practice squad may only be called up twice in a season (including the playoffs) or else they have to be signed to the 53-man roster.

On the other side of the field, the Buccaneers have promoted two of their own practice squad players: cornerback Mazzi Wilkins and wide receiver Cyril Grayson Jr. Grayson, a former LSU Tigers track and field star, spent training camp with the Saints last year before showing out for Tampa Bay as a returns specialist.
