Texas A&M’s 2024 season concluded on a disappointing note. First-year coach Mike Elko faced multiple injuries and a revolving quarterback rotation.
This led to redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed stepping up as the primary quarterback heading into 2025 following Conner Weigman’s transfer to Houston. However, the offseason’s most significant return must be running back Le’Veon Moss, who was lost for the season after eight games due to a knee injury.
Since last month, Elko and his staff have landed 14 players from the transfer portal, including four wide receivers and four defensive linemen. While there’s more work to be done, especially on the interior D-line, Texas A&M’s 2025 roster is taking shape.
Last week, On3 analyst J.D. PicKell released his top 10 preseason college football rankings, and while it’s very early in the offseason, it’s safe to say that these are the most surprising rankings yet:
- Texas
- Ohio State
- Oregon
- Notre Dame
- Penn State
- Georgia
- South Carolina
- Clemson
- Texas A&M
- Florida
While 1-6 aren’t surprising, given that every team made the 12-team College Football Playoff this season, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Florida are all wildcards, especially an Aggie team that is in “show, don’t tell” mode with Marcel Reed taking over as the full-time starter.
However, the transfer portal additions have filled two significant holes, especially after landing wide receiver KC Concepcion and cornerback Julian Humphrey.
At the same time, the entire starting offensive line will also return to help Reed in pass protection and provide holes in the run game for A&M’s deep RB room, led by senior RB Le’Veon Moss.
