Kareem Hunt on return to Chiefs: ‘It’s good to be back’

See what #Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt had to say to veteran NFL reporter Darren Smith after Kansas City’s Week 8 victory over the #Raiders.

The Kansas City Chiefs earned their seventh win of the regular season against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8, and veteran running back Kareem Hunt was a key part of the defending Super Bowl champions’ offensive attack.

Hunt, who is back in Kansas City after a five-year stint with the Cleveland Browns, has emerged as the Chiefs’ leading rusher through seven games, and scored a touchdown against the Raiders.

After Kansas City’s win over Las Vegas, veteran NFL reporter Darren Smith spoke to Hunt in the Chiefs’ locker room at Allegiant Stadium to get his thoughts on returning to the team that drafted him.

Check out Hunt’s full postgame interview with Smith, which was posted to Twitter this week:

Expect Hunt to have his number called early and often when Kansas City takes on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arrowhead Stadium on “Monday Night Football” in Week 9.

Xavier Worthy addresses media after Chiefs’ Week 7 win vs. 49ers

NFL reporter Darren Smith shared this video of #Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy’s postgame comments after Kansas City’s Week 7 win over the #49ers.

After a Week 7 win over the San Fransisco 49ers that kept their undefeated season alive, the Kansas City Chiefs should feel comfortable relying on rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who has been among the defending champions’ most productive pass-catchers.

Worthy continued his impressive first NFL season with a three-reception performance on Sunday that helped the Chiefs keep San Francisco’s defense guessing.

With star receivers Rashee Rice and Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown on injured reserve, Worthy has stepped up to fill a crucial role in Kansas City’s offense and seems to be poised for a breakout game in the coming weeks.

Worthy spoke to NFL reporter Darren Smith in the Chiefs’ locker room after the Chiefs’ 28-18 win over the 49ers and shared his thoughts on Kansas City’s 2024 season.

Check out this video of Worthy’s comments, which was posted to Twitter by Smith on Sunday evening:

Expect Worthy to continue blazing his path to stardom when the Chiefs travel out West to face the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in Week 8.

Trent McDuffie addresses media after Chiefs’ Week 7 win vs. 49ers

NFL reporter Darren Smith spoke to #Chiefs DB Trent McDuffie in the locker room after Kansas City’s Week 7 win over the San Francisco #49ers.

The Kansas City Chiefs remained undefeated this season after their epic 28-18 win against the San Fransisco 49ers in Week 7.

Star cornerback Trent McDuffie was a key part of the Chiefs’ defensive effort that held San Francisco’s offense, led by quarterback Brock Purdy, to only two touchdowns in the Super Bowl LVIII rematch.

His two tackles last night were both at critical moments in the game that helped lock in another win on the Chiefs’ quest to earn a third-consecutive Super Bowl championship.

McDuffie spoke to NFL reporter Darren Smith in Kansas City’s locker room after the Chiefs’ win over the 49ers, and gave some insight into his team’s latest victory.

Check out this video of McDuffies’s comments, which was posted to Twitter by Smith on Sunday evening:

Expect McDuffie to be among Kansas City’s most impactful playmakers when the Chiefs travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders in a Week 8 AFC West showdown on October 27.

Travis Kelce addresses media after Chiefs’ Week 7 win vs. 49ers

Check out this video of #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce’s postgame interview with NFL reporter Darren Smith after Kansas City’s win over the #49ers.

The Kansas City Chiefs managed to keep their undefeated record intact against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7, and while star tight end Travis Kelce caught four passes in the winning effort, he was limited to just 17 receiving yards.

Kelce has gotten off to a slow start in the 2024 regular season, but is still one of the Chiefs’ most valuable offensive weapons, especially given Kansas City’s injury situation.

With Rashee Rice and Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown on injured reserve, Kelce has remained one of Patrick Mahomes favorite targets, even if the ball isn’t being thrown his way as often as usual.

The All-Pro pass catcher spoke to NFL reporter Darren Smith in the Chiefs’ locker room after Kansas City’s 28-18 win over the 49ers and shared his thoughts on the Super Bowl LVIII rematch.

Check out this video of Kelce’s comments, which was posted to Twitter by Smith on Sunday evening:

Expect Kelce to be heavily involved in Kansas City’s game plan for Week 8, when the Chiefs are set to face the Las Vegas Raiders in an AFC West showdown.

Royals SS Bobby Witt Jr. reacts to Patrick Mahomes’ ‘angry run’ touchdown vs. 49ers

#Royals SS Bobby Witt Jr. gave #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes a shoutout on Twitter after his ‘angry run’ against the #49ers in Week 7.

The Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are two of the most recognizable brands in the sports world, and Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. took notice of the defending Super Bowl champions’ excellence in their Week 7 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

The Royals’ season came to an abrupt end last week after they fell to the New York Yankees in the ALDS.

Mahomes attended one of the Royals’ games in the MLB playoffs, and the rising young infielder was quick to give the superstar quarterback a shoutout on Instagram after he scored an ‘angry run’ touchdown against the 49ers.

Check out Witt’s Instagram post, which was shared to Twitter by Chiefs Wire legend Charles Goldman on Twitter:

Expect Witt to continue following Mahomes’ reign of dominance in the AFC when Kansas City attempts to keep its undefeated record intact against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8.

Dennis Allen says Taysom Hill has a new rib injury

Dennis Allen provided clarity on which injury Taysom Hill was dealing with during his postgame press conference. No. 7 has a new ribs issue:

The New Orleans Saints picked up their second loss of the season to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4, by a score of 26-24. Part of the reason they struggled so much is that their biggest offensive weapon in the red zone, Taysom Hill, went down with what was announced as an abdomen injury. Hill was unable to return after halftime, which put the Saints in a tough position once they got near the end zone.

Dennis Allen shared clarification about the injury when asked if it was a re-aggravation of the previous chest injury (a bruised lung) Hill had: “No, it’s ribs on the other side.”

Allen was then asked how that injury impacted their chances of winning or changed the gameplan. He responded, “Well look, I mean you lose a player like that it affects you, but I still think we had enough guys on the field that could’ve made enough plays to give us a chance to win.”

We will get further clarification in the coming week as to what this injury really is, and he will have an extra day to recover as the Saints are scheduled for “Monday Night Football” against the Kansas City Chiefs next week.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson on beating Saints: ‘No contenders, they’re pretenders’

C.J. Gardner-Johnson relished beating his old Saints team. He was heard in the postgame locker room shouting, ‘They ain’t no contenders, they’re pretenders’

The New Orleans Saints’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was a tough one to swallow, and even more so after the late-game extracurriculars occurring between the teams after Derek Carr threw an interception in the final minute. That gave C.J. Gardner-Johnson cause for celebration after he gave up a lead-changing touchdown minutes earlier.

To rub more salt in the wound, NFL Network reporter Bridget Condon tweeted after the final whistle that Gardner-Johnson, the former Saint, was heard shouting in the locker room: “They ain’t no contenders, they’re pretenders. They have Derek Carr, remember that.”

Carr certainly had a hand in the Saints loss, there’s no doubt about that, and he has most certainly not been perfect since signing with the Saints. After the first two weeks it felt like he turned things around, and the pressure coming at him due to the loss of Erik McCoy early into the game did not help, but Carr did not look great regardless. Having a former Saints draft pick in the opposing locker room celebrating that after a tough loss does not feel great for anyone involved, presumably.

Dennis Allen explains why he quoted Kendrick Lamar in his postgame speech

Dennis Allen used a perfectly-timed Kendrick Lamar quote after the Saints’ victory over the Cowboys. We can thank his son for that:

https://twitter.com/jeff_nowak/status/1836493511979602315?s=46&t=_U0UBmCWxF2s5xLnGQ2rFQ

Dennis Allen was feeling good after the New Orleans Saints dominant performance over Dallas Cowboys. So good that he quoted Kendrick Lamar’s hit single “Not Like Us.” When addressing the team after the game, Allen told his players “sometimes you gotta just pop out and show ’em.”

Allen added his own flair to the quote, and the team exploded. Willie Gay can be seen jumping into the frame as Allen walks off.

The song is the biggest hit of the year, so it’s no surprise Allen has heard it. The surprise was that he quoted it after the game.

We have Allen’s son to thank for this clip. Allen explained the moment by crediting his son for exposing him to the rapper’s work: “I wouldn’t say (Kendrick Lamar is) on my playlist, but my son was with me out at training camp and so we heard that song plenty of times.”

Allen heard the song so many times that he found the perfect moment to use the quote. The Saints game versus the Cowboys was a moment for the Saints to pop out and show ’em. That’s exactly what they did with another 40 point performance. Allen gets an A-plus for the reference and timing. Maybe he’ll be able to grab a photo with Lamar when the 17-time Grammy winner visits New Orleans to perform at Super Bowl LIX.

Luke Fickell delivers blunt assessment of Wisconsin’s 42-10 loss to No. 4 Alabama

Luke Fickell delivers blunt assessment of Wisconsin’s 42-10 loss to No. 4 Alabama

Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell told reporters that he shared a clear message to his team after it suffered a 42-10 blowout loss to No. 4 Alabama on Saturday:

“If you haven’t had your a** whooped before, you just did,” Fickell explained. “It’s a good old-fashioned ass-whooping, at home, which hurts.”

Related: Takeaways from Wisconsin’s demoralizing loss to No. 4 Alabama

The blunt assessment came after mistakes plagued the Badgers the entire afternoon. Wisconsin lost two fumbles, missed a field goal and turned the ball over on downs. Alabama turned those four miscues into 28 points — the difference in the game.

The humbling final score tempers expectations for the rest of the season. Wisconsin faces a brutal Big Ten schedule with games against No. 11 USC, No. 8 Penn State, Iowa, No. 9 Oregon and No. 23 Nebraska. Improved play will be necessary to emerge with bowl eligibility.

Badgers fans certainly hope this loss is Wisconsin’s low point of the season. Otherwise, big-picture questions about the future of the program will persist.

Wisconsin forward Tyler Wahl emotional after final collegiate game

Wisconsin forward Tyler Wahl emotional after final collegiate game

Wisconsin forward Tyler Wahl’s college career came to an end with the team’s 72-61 NCAA Tournament round of 64 loss to James Madison Friday night.

Wahl finished with just five points on 1/5 from the floor and 3/6 from the free throw line. It was an unfortunate ending to a decorated collegiate career, and a performance that fell far short of his standard as a player.

Wisconsin does return almost every key contributor for 2024-25, plus adds a 2024 class headlined by top point guard Daniel Freitag. But Wahl’s departure should be felt in the team’s rotation next season.

The five-year college veteran was understandably emotional after Friday’s loss to James Madison. Some of the on-site beat writers shared a glimpse at that postgame scene:
