Tyreek Hill felt ‘disrespected’ when Chiefs gave his No. 10 jersey to Isiah Pacheco

On a recent podcast appearance, Tyreek Hill said he felt “disrespected” when the #Chiefs gave his No. 10 jersey to Isiah Pacheco

The Kansas City Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl victories have placed them in elite company in NFL history. The players involved in the triumph, along with those who battled Kansas City throughout the period, have had plenty to say this offseason.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill began his career in Kansas City and played against his former teammates during those two seasons. He appeared on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast to share his thoughts on the last two years and Isiah Pacheco’s taking jersey number ten after his departure.

“Yeah, man, Kansas City [has] got a [really] good running back today. You can hear and see every step he takes, [they are] so hard,” Hill said of Pacheco. “I did feel disrespected when they gave him ten, tho I didn’t like that. There should be only one ten in your heart, man.”

[gambcom-standard rankid=”5375″ ]

Hill had many great seasons in Kansas City, with the No. 10 jersey becoming a popular item at games at Arrowhead Stadium. He spoke about not wanting to watch Kansas City’s Super Bowl LVII victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

“The first year that they went [to the Super Bowl], my wife and I took a trip to Tokyo because it was kind of hard for me,” Hill explained. “I don’t want to look at no game. Oh, well. Let’s just go to Tokyo. Let’s get away from it. Right, and let’s do our thing. So we went to Tokyo for the first year. And when they won, I reached out to all the guys.

“I’m like, ‘Man, I’m happy for y’all. I’m proud of all of you.’ But the second year, this year, when they won, like I watched the whole game, I’m like, ‘Y’all, we gotta win this thing, you feel me?’ I’m cool. Nah, but the first year it was kind of hard, I’m saying, trying to get over that hump of seeing the guys, do they thing out there.”

Hill’s departure before the 2022 season appeared sudden when the trade was announced with the Miami Dolphins. He reiterated in the interview that he desired to remain with the Chiefs during contract negotiations.

“I wanted to be in KC 100 percent. Yeah, 100 percent,” said Hill. “Before we even knew about the Dolphins. Yeah, I wanted to be in Kansas City, I told them that.”

The Chiefs defeated Hill’s Dolphins twice last season en route to the Super Bowl LVIII title. He ranks as one of the best wide receivers in franchise history.

Broncos Wire podcast: Courtland Sutton’s status + NFL draft thoughts

On a new Broncos Wire podcast, Ryan O’Leary and Jon Heath discuss Courtland Sutton’s status and preview Denver’s picks in the NFL draft.

We’re now less than one week away from the 2024 NFL draft!

Looking ahead to next week’s draft, I joined host Ryan O’Leary on the Broncos Wire podcast to discuss Courtland Sutton’s status, Denver’s options at pick No. 12 and my latest seven-round mock draft for the Broncos.

You can listen to episode No. 108 below:

Check out our notes from this week’s podcast below.

1. Courtland Sutton wants a revised contract
  • Sutton is skipping the voluntary part of offseason workouts because he’s not happy with his contract. Only $2 million is guaranteed this year and there’s no guarantees next year.
  • Sutton has base salary of $13M in 2024 and $13.5M in 2015 but salary cap hits of $17.39M and $17.82M over the next two years.
  • We love ya, Court, but read the room! After eating $53 million to cut Russell Wilson, I think the Broncos are far more likely to trade Sutton than give him a pay raise.
  • Trade candidates: Steelers? Ravens? Patriots? Bills?
2. Seven-round mock draft for Broncos
  • Trade OT Garett Bolles to Patriots for 2nd-round pick
  • Trade WR Courtland Sutton to Cardinals for 3rd-round pick
  • Trade pick No. 147 (Round 5) to Saints for TE Taysom Hill
  • Round 1, pick 12: OL Troy Fautanu, Washington
  • Round 2, pick 34: QB Michael Pratt, Tulane
  • Round 3, pick 76: DL T’Vondre Sweat, Texas (*DWI)
  • Round 3, pick 90: CB Kris Abrams-Draine, Missouri (via trade)
  • Round 4, pick 121: OLB Mohamed Kamara, Colorado State
  • Round 5, pick 136: RB Isaac Guerendo, Louisville
  • Round 5, pick 145: WR Luke McCaffrey, Rice
  • Round 6, pick 203: OLB Jalyx Hunt, Houston Christian
  • Round 6, pick 207: LB Jordan Magee, Temple
3. Takeaways from pre-draft press conference
  • Teams have called about potential trade up/down
  • Don’t want to force a QB at 12, BPA with first pick
  • Team seemed unconcerned about Sutton’s absence

Ryan and I will return next week to react to Denver’s draft class.

Is Adam Schefter backing off his ‘guess’ about Jayden Daniels to Commanders?

Is Schefter less confident about his hunch of Jayden Daniels going to the Commanders?

When ESPN’s Adam Schefter says something regarding the NFL, you can usually take it to the bank. Schefter breaks more news than any sports reporter, and he is often never wrong.

Recently, Schefter said on his podcast that he believed the Washington Commanders, with their No. 2 overall selection, were leaning toward LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. In an appearance on the “Trap or Dive” podcast, Schefter said Washington fans could go ahead and order their Daniels jerseys.

“I think you can go ahead and get those Jayden Daniels jerseys,” Schefter said.

Remember, it was Schefter who warned everyone in January that Ben Johnson wasn’t the top choice to be Washington’s head coach. He was alone in that — and he was correct.

On Thursday, Schefter was a guest on the “Money Down” podcast, where he was again asked about Daniels to Washington. He chose his words a bit more carefully.

“I think it’s tracking for Jayden Daniels to be 2, but Washington’s got all the quarterbacks in this week; let’s see what they decide,” Schefter said. “There’s still 10 days, people change their minds, there’s a lot that happens. Again, I’m guessing, I want to be clear. I’m guessing that Jayden would be the 2nd pick today. I don’t know that. That’s my guess.”

Let’s be clear that in his previous mentions of Daniels to Washington, he never reported that was the move. It was always his hunch from talking to people around the NFL. He admitted he hadn’t talked to the Commanders.

While Schefter still stuck by his “guess,” it seemed a lot less confident than it did a week ago.

What does this tell us? Neither he nor anyone else really knows what Washington general manager Adam Peters is going to do next Thursday.

Broncos Wire podcast: Discussing wild QB options and top needs in the NFL draft

On the latest Broncos Wire podcast, Ryan O’Leary and Jon Heath list several wild QB options and then discuss Denver’s biggest draft needs.

The 2024 NFL draft is now just two weeks away, and it’s time for a new episode of the Broncos Wire podcast.

On this week’s episode, I joined Broncos Wire host Ryan O’Leary to discuss wild quarterback options and the team’s biggest draft needs (among other topics). You can listen to episode No. 107 below:

Check out our notes from this week’s podcast below.

Dak Prescott?
  • The Cowboys aren’t giving Dak Prescott an extension, so he’s set to become a free agent in 2025. Should the Broncos go all in to sign him next year? Or trade for him now?
Even more wild QB options
  • The Broncos passed on (or failed to sign) the veteran QBs that were available during free agency. A few weeks ago, Sean Payton said: “There are still a few possibilities relative to guys who are currently in this league or have played in this league” (emphasis added).
  • Realistically, Payton is probably talking about somebody boring like Ryan Tannehill. It wouldn’t be shocking if Denver adds a veteran after the draft.
NFL draft needs
  • QB: Obvious.
  • CB: Top prospect, or Riley Moss steps up, or sign vet after draft.
  • OLB: Need an elite pass rusher (Baron Browning oft-injured, Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper are more rotational types)
  • DL: Zach Allen/D.J. Jones/Malcolm Roach are good starting trio, but not much depth behind them.
  • ILB: Alex Singleton and Cody Barton are short-term answers. Jonas Griffith has potential. Denver needs an athletic long-term option.
  • OT: Really depends on if Garett Bolles is getting an extension.
  • TE: Doesn’t need to be a high priority, but depth is needed behind Adam Trautman, Greg Dulcich and Lucas Krull.
  • WR: Not a pressing need, but Courtland Sutton has 2 years on contract, Tim Patrick has one year left on deal and Josh Reynolds is 29.
  • RB: Again, not an immediate need, but Javonte Williams and Samaje Perine will become free agents in 2025.
New NFL rules

Ryan and I will return next week with a final mock draft.

Montez Sweat strongly preferred Washington’s old name

Montez Sweat liked old name, embarrassed by “Commanders” name.

The Washington Redskins selected Montez Sweat in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. On Oct. 31, 2023, the Washington Commanders traded Sweat to the Chicago Bears for a 2024 second-round pick.

In Sweat’s five seasons with the team, Washington had three different team names because former owner Dan Snyder was forced to sell in the summer of 2020: Redskins, Football Team and Commanders.

In Tuesday’s episode of the “Green Light” podcast with Chris Long, Sweat was asked about Washington’s various names.

He clearly preferred the “Redskins” moniker.

While Sweat is no longer on the team, having signed a lucrative four-year extension with the Bears, he will endear himself to many Washington fans due to his preference for the old name.

As for the new name, Sweat said he was “embarrassed” when he first heard it.

“Oh my god, when I heard that, bro, I was embarrassed,” Sweat said. “I was so embarrassed that when people asked who I played for, I said Washington.”

Several Washington fans would agree with him.

Sweat appeared in 67 games for Washington, recording 222 tackles, including 47 for loss, 35.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles.

PODCAST: Should the Cardinals trade for WRs Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins?

Jess Root and Seth Cox discuss whether trading for Brandon Aiyuk or Tee Higgins would make sense for the Cardinals in this show.

The Arizona Cardinals are in the middle of all sorts of trade speculation in the NFL draft. When it comes to trade rumors for players on other teams, though, there has been nothing.

Their most glaring need on the roster is at wide receiver.

In this edition of the podcast, cohost Seth Cox and I discuss trading for a couple of good, established receivers — Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers and Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Are they worth it? What would it cost? Under what circumstances would it make sense?

We discuss all of that in this show.
