Who will Chiefs play next in NFL playoffs bracket?

It’s #Chiefs vs. #Texans in the NFL playoffs divisional round. Bracket update, what to know

The Kansas City Chiefs earned a much-needed bye week after clinching the No. 1 seed for the AFC playoffs.

After the Denver Broncos’ loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the defending Super Bowl champions now know who they will face in the divisional round next week.

Chiefs NFL playoff bracket update

The No. 1 seed Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the No. 4 seed Houston Texans in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs next week.

Chiefs vs. Texans predictions

These teams met earlier in the season, and Kansas City had no problem wrangling the up-and-coming Texans. Though Houston has proven to be a worthy adversary for elite opponents in the past, the Chiefs’ experience should help Kansas City cruise to a relatively easy victory in front of a home crowd at Arrowhead Stadium.

Final score: Chiefs 27, Texans 20

What time is kickoff for Chiefs vs. Texans?

The NFL has not yet announced when the Chiefs’ matchup against the Texans will take place.

Two of the league’s four divisional-round playoff games will be played on Saturday, January 18, while the others are set to kick off on Sunday, January 19.

NFL playoffs schedule and bracket for 2024-2025 season

The NFL playoffs begin this weekend with two games Saturday, three games Sunday and one game on Monday.

Welcome to the 2024 NFL playoffs.

The action begins with the Wild Card round this weekend featuring two games on Saturday, three games on Sunday and one game on Monday. Let’s dive into the full schedule.

First, the Los Angeles Chargers will face the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 11. That game will be televised on CBS and available to stream on FuboTV (try it free).

After that, the Pittsburgh Steelers will take on Baltimore Ravens at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 11 on Prime Video (you can sign up here).

The action continues on Sunday, Jan. 12 starting with the Denver Broncos facing the Buffalo Bills at 1 p.m. ET on CBS and FuboTV.

After that, the Green Bay Packers will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX and FuboTV.

Sunday’s slate will conclude with the Washington Commanders facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and FuboTV.

The Wild Card round will wrap up on Monday, Jan. 13 when the Minnesota Vikings take on Los Angeles Rams at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN, ABC and FuboTV.

There’s not a true “bracket” because the lowest-advancing seed faces the highest-advancing seed in the next rounds, but here’s a bracket for the Wild Card round:

As the No. 1 seeds in their respective conferences, the Kansas City Chiefs (AFC) and Detroit Lions (NFC) have first-round byes. They will face the lowest-advancing seeds in the Divisional round next weekend.

NFL playoffs bracket: Can the Broncos win the Super Bowl?

If the Broncos (No. 7) beat the Bills (No. 2) in the Wild Card round, Denver would then face the Chiefs (No. 1) in the divisional round.

The Denver Broncos have made the NFL playoffs!

Now comes the hard part.

The Broncos are set to go on the road to face the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs on Sunday, Jan. 12.

Denver is the lowest seed in the AFC (No. 7) and Buffalo is the No. 2 seed. The Kansas City Chiefs, the No. 1 seed, are on a first-round bye. If the Broncos upset the Bills on Sunday, they would advance to face KC in the divisional round of the playoffs.

What a story that would be. After getting into the postseason by beating the Chiefs’ backups, Denver could face KC’s starters a few weeks later.

If the Broncos upset Buffalo and then beat the Chiefs, who they would play next depends on who advances in the bracket. The most likely opponent would be the Baltimore Ravens (No. 3 seed), but the Houston Texans (No. 4), Los Angeles Chargers (No. 5) and Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 6) are all possibilities.

As the bottom seed in the conference, Denver would be the road team in each round of the playoffs — if the Broncos advance. And for the dreamers in Broncos Country, the AFC will also be the “road team” in Super Bowl LIX this season. The Super Bowl will be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9.

How 5 games in Week 18 affected the AFC playoff bracket

The AFC playoff bracket is set after a few Week 18 games shook things up.

The regular season is in the books and the AFC postseason bracket is set.

The Baltimore Ravens will have next week off as the No. 1 seed in the conference, while the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Houston Texans will all host playoff games.

For the Jaguars, it was a disastrous weekend. A win against the Tennessee Titans would’ve secured Jacksonville the AFC South title for the second straight season. That didn’t happen, nor did a backdoor scenario that would’ve seen the Jaguars sneak in as the No. 7 seed.

Here’s how every result with the potential to shake things up in the AFC went down in Week 18:

Jaguars will travel to play Chiefs in Divisional Round

The Jaguars have a tall task ahead of them next weekend.

The Jacksonville Jaguars pulled off an incredible feat Saturday, erasing a 27-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Chargers and advance to the Divisional Round. Getting to the AFC Championship will require another remarkable feat, though.

Next up for the Jaguars is a trip to play the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The game is set to kickoff at 4:30 p.m. ET on Saturday with coverage on NBC.

On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills beat the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Baltimore Ravens. That left the fourth-seeded Jaguars as the lowest seed remaining in the AFC, setting up a matchup against the top-seeded Chiefs.

The Jaguars have lost six consecutive games against the Chiefs dating back to 2010, including a Week 10 loss this season. Kansas City jumped out to a 20-0 lead in that game and the Jaguars were never able to cut the deficit back to single-digits, losing 27-17.

Kansas City is looking to reach the AFC Championship for a fifth straight year. The team made back-to-back Super Bowls during the run and won Super Bowl LIV in February 2020.

The elimination of the Dolphins and Ravens also means that there is no scenario where the Jaguars host another playoff game en route to a potential Super Bowl appearance. The Bills will host the Bengals in the other AFC game next weekend.

What the AFC playoff bracket looks like after Saturday

The Jaguars are in the playoffs. Now there are a few scenarios for who’s up next.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the playoffs after securing the AFC South title, but what comes next remains a mystery for now.

The Jaguars will find out Sunday who they are playing next weekend and they’ll have to wait until the end of the night to learn when their playoff game will happen. Some things are already set in stone after Saturday, though.

Jacksonville owns the fourth seed in the AFC and the first seed was clinched by the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. The second and third seeds will belong to the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, although Sunday will determine which team gets which seed. The same is true of the Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens with the fifth and sixth seeds.

The seventh and final spot in the AFC will go to the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, or Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wild card round

The Jaguars will likely host the Chargers.

Los Angeles can lock up the fifth seed with a win Sunday against the Denver Broncos, or with a Baltimore loss to the Bengals. If LA loses and Baltimore wins, it’ll be the Ravens visiting TIAA Bank Field next weekend.

Divisional Round

If the Jaguars get through the first round, they are likely to play on the road in the following weekend.

If both the Bills and Bengals win their Wild Card Round games, the Jaguars would travel to play the top-seeded Chiefs in Kansas City.

If the Bills win and the Bengals lose, it’s a trip to Buffalo for the Jaguars. And — you guessed it — it’s a trip to Cincinnati for the Jaguars if the Bengals win and the Bills lose.

Only if both the Bills and Bengals lose, would Jacksonville get a second home playoff game. In that scenario, the Jaguars would host either the Ravens or Chargers (whichever one they didn’t just beat).
