What the NFL Playoffs bracket looks like after Wild Card Weekend

The 8-team playoff bracket is set now that Wild Card Weekend is over.

The 2022-23 NFL Playoffs bracket is set after the field of teams was trimmed to eight over Wild Card Weekend.

With the top-seeded teams in each conference — the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, this year — earning the right to play the lowest-seeded team to advance to the Divisional Round, the bracket isn’t truly in place until the first six teams are gone.

With only six postseason games left until Super Bowl LVII, the bracket now looks like this:

On Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers eliminated the Seattle Seahawks and the Jacksonville Jaguars erased a 27-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Chargers.

On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, and Cincinnati Bengals took out the Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, and Baltimore Ravens, respectively.

In the wild card finale, the Dallas Cowboys breezed through the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

All four division winners in the AFC advanced, but two wild card teams — the Giants and Cowboys — earned a spot in the Divisional Round in the NFC.

Jaguars will travel to play Chiefs in Divisional Round

The Jaguars have a tall task ahead of them next weekend.

The Jacksonville Jaguars pulled off an incredible feat Saturday, erasing a 27-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Chargers and advance to the Divisional Round. Getting to the AFC Championship will require another remarkable feat, though.

Next up for the Jaguars is a trip to play the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The game is set to kickoff at 4:30 p.m. ET on Saturday with coverage on NBC.

On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills beat the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Baltimore Ravens. That left the fourth-seeded Jaguars as the lowest seed remaining in the AFC, setting up a matchup against the top-seeded Chiefs.

The Jaguars have lost six consecutive games against the Chiefs dating back to 2010, including a Week 10 loss this season. Kansas City jumped out to a 20-0 lead in that game and the Jaguars were never able to cut the deficit back to single-digits, losing 27-17.

Kansas City is looking to reach the AFC Championship for a fifth straight year. The team made back-to-back Super Bowls during the run and won Super Bowl LIV in February 2020.

The elimination of the Dolphins and Ravens also means that there is no scenario where the Jaguars host another playoff game en route to a potential Super Bowl appearance. The Bills will host the Bengals in the other AFC game next weekend.

4 Divisional Round scenarios for the Jaguars after win vs. Chargers

The Jaguars’ Divisional Round opponent will be determined Sunday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are through to the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs after an incredible comeback to beat the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night.

The Jaguars are now 5-2 all-time in Wild Card Weekend games and — after Monday — will be one of eight teams left with a chance to reach Super Bowl LVII.

Who they’ll play next weekend depends entirely on how the two other AFC playoff games shake out Sunday. At 1 p.m. ET, the second-seeded Buffalo Bills will host the seventh-seeded Miami Dolphins. In the primetime game, the sixth-seeded Baltimore Ravens will travel to play the third-seeded Cincinnati Bengals.

Between those two games are four possible outcomes and each one would line up a different opponent for the Jaguars in the Divisional Round.

Here are those four scenarios along with the likelihood that they come to fruition (based on FiveThirtyEight’s Elo forecast):

Ravens to face Titans in Wild-Card round of AFC playoffs

With Week 17 finished in the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens will have to play the Tennessee Titans to open the AFC playoffs seeding

The Baltimore Ravens took care of their own business, beating up on the hapless Cincinnati Bengals Sunday to close out the regular season. By beating Cincinnati, Baltimore locked themselves into the AFC playoff seeding. But it took the evening games concluding to determine who the Ravens would play in the Wild-Card bracket.

With the dust settled in Week 17, Baltimore’s playoff picture is now clear. The Ravens have officially clinched the fifth seed and will take on the Tennessee Titans, who claimed the No. 4 seed with their Week 17 win over the Houston Texans.

This is a perfect opportunity for Baltimore to get two albatrosses off its back. A frequent criticism of quarterback Lamar Jackson has been his lack of postseason success, going 0-2 in the playoffs during his first two years in the league. Also, the Titans were the team that knocked the Ravens out of the postseason last year. Though Baltimore’s players and coaches have been hesitant to talk about the seriousness of the matchup, there’s no doubt this game will mean a great deal to the Ravens on a few different levels.

It’s unclear right now exactly what the schedule will be for the playoffs but Baltimore is in it and will take on Tennessee for the first game on what the Ravens hope is the road to Super Bowl LV.
