Penn State recruiting: Drew Allar offers hope for future QB depth

Class of 2022 stars Drew Allar and Nicholas Singleton continue to shine a bright light for Penn State’s future

Penn State is coming off an unfortunate loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes on the road. We saw quite a few injuries throughout the game from the Nittany Lions as well.

As we head into the bye week, let’s take a closer look at a few future Nittany Lions and provide some updates on their current season.

The first one is Drew Allar. He has been talked about in these updates for a few weeks now because he continues rack up numbers consistently every week. Through seven games, Allar has thrown for over 2,200 yards and 24 touchdowns with just four interceptions. Not only has he been a passing machine, he has also been extremely productive in the ground game, recording 296 yards and six rushing touchdowns.

The next player to highlight was a huge get over the summer for Penn State in Dani Dennis-Sutton. The four-star defensive lineman brings a lot of versatility to the table, having played both defensive end and defensive tackle throughout his high school career.

The last player to discuss is four-star running back in Nicholas Singleton. Penn State currently has solid depth in their running back room and it is only going up from there. In his latest win, Singleton ran for 246 yards and four touchdowns. Seeing this should put a smile on many fans’ faces with their current run game struggling.

Penn State has a bright future ahead of them. Seeing Allar being talked about consistently every week along with other future Nittany Lions continuing to shine for their respective teams, this team has a lot to look forward to.

Penn State’s Class of 2023 would love to add these two recruits

Who are two Class of 2023 recruits Penn State would love to add?

We are just a few weeks into the season and Penn State has climbed up the rankings in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 leading into Saturday’s game against the Indiana Hoosiers.

We are still continuing to see them build for their future as well. Let’s take a look at a few players to keep an eye on for Penn State recruits.

The first one is a four-star offensive tackle from the 2023 class in Payton Kirkland.

He has narrowed down his list of schools, which includes Penn State. Adding him would be a nice boost to the Nittany Lions 2023 recruiting class, especially since they have already started to add offensive lineman for that class.

Kirkland has 54 total offers across the NCAA. He is a mountain of a man, standing at 6-foot-7 and 320 pounds. He is a player that has the potential to make a lot of noise at the college level.

The next player to watch is another 2023 recruit in Sonny Styles. He is a five-star athlete who ranks number three in his class.

Throughout his high school career, Styles has created chaos on the defensive side of the ball. He plays with tons of aggression and grit, which fits really well with what Penn State has historically recruited. Meaning, they are players who can back up their talk with their performance on the field.

Penn State has a strong recruiting class in 2023 thus far. Kirkland and Styles are two intriguing players to keep an eye on, as both have become popular names for the Nittany Lions recruiting watch list.

Penn State recruiting notebook: QB Drew Allar puts on a show

Penn State recruits came up big on the high school football fields last weekend

It’s a new week of Penn State football and we look ahead to not only this week’s matchup at home against Ball State, but we will also take a look at another look at the future of the Nittany Lions.

This will continue to be updated weekly, but Penn State still currently has the number one recruiting class in 2022 lead by Medina, Ohio quarterback Drew Allar.

It’s also worth noting the stat line that Allar put up over the weekend. He broke the Medina touchdown record by throwing four touchdown passes in the first half on Friday in a 35-0 victory

One recruit to keep an eye on is a four-star wide receiver out of DeSoto, Texas in Johntay Cook II. He currently has multiple offers across the country, including Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State. He would be a part of the 2023 class for Penn State, which already has an interior offensive lineman in Alex Birchmeier.

Cook is ranked as the number 24 player in the country, according to On3 Sports.

Cook is a two-sport athlete who displays impressive hands. What’s even more impressive is that Cook does a very nice job making those contested catches. There were a few plays from last season where he used his athleticism and hands to make difficult catches while being double coveraged. Overall, Cook is a talented player that James Franklin would love to have in his wide receiver room.

Penn State has some intriguing guys to monitor not only their recruiting process, but it’s also worth noting the performances of their current players that will be eventually be stepping foot on campus and starting their careers at Beaver Stadium.

Penn State football’s future looks great with the Class of 2022 and Class of 2023

Penn State is already off to a good start with the Class of 2023 after a stellar Class of 2022

As we all know, James Franklin has had a busy summer recruiting. Penn State still currently has the top recruiting class in 2022 with 14 four-stars and 10 three-stars

They have already begun bringing in talent for their 2023 class, with their first commit being an offensive lineman out of Ashburn, Virginia in Alex Birchmeier. Birchmeier was the number one ranked offensive lineman in the nation who had several offers across the NCAA, according to 247 Sports

It’s early, but that one commit puts Penn State at 12th in the recruiting rankings for the class of 2023. Last season, the Nittany Lions started off to a disappointing 0-5 start, which was Franklin’s worst season since being hired as Penn State’s head coach in 2014.

Penn State’s 2022 recruiting class is loaded. We talked about four-star quarterback Drew Allar last week during our countdown series, who is one of those guys that leads that class. One other player that Penn State scored big on earlier this summer was defensive lineman Dani Dennis-Sutton. The 6-foot-5 and 250-pound recruit is very active with his hands and has good awareness as a defender. He will be an exciting guy to see the type of player he develops into.

Another player to watch is a versatile athlete out of Argyle, Texas in Kristian Driver, son of former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver. Kristian Driver is a multi-talented player who brings a substantial amount of flexibility for the Nittany Lions. If there’s anything we know about Franklin and his recruiting, it’s that he loves guys that can or are capable of playing multiple areas of the field.

As we continue our recruiting watch throughout the season, there are two other players to keep an eye on.

The first one is a 2023 four-star linebacker Raylen Wilson, who had Penn State in his top 12. There are no crystal ball predictions, but Wilson is still a player to monitor during the 2021 season.

The other player to watch is a 2022 four-star wide receiver out of Richmond, Virginia in Andre Greene Jr. There aren’t any crystal ball predictions for this one either. However, Green Jr. has Penn State in his top 6, which is promising and worth keeping an eye on.

Penn State has a very promising and exciting future ahead of them, but for now, it’s time to focus on their matchup this week in Madison, Wisconsin against the Badgers.

Penn State adds another four-star player to their impressive 2022 class

Penn State added yet another four-star player to its Class of 2022 with four-star athlete Cristian Driver

Penn State continues to impress with its recruiting class for 2022. Today, they just landed four-star athlete Cristian Driver, the son of former Green Bay Packers legendary wide receiver Donald Driver.

Driver brings a lot of versatility to the table, which will be huge for the Nittany Lions. It will be interesting to see where his primary spot will be. Driver is now the 23rd commitment for the Nittany Lions in 2022 and the number 210 prospect nationally. He had other offers from big Power Five schools like Alabama, LSU and Ohio State.

Penn State has some impressive talent coming in these next few years and Christian Driver is one of them. The Nittany Lions’ 2022 recruiting class currently ranks second in the nation behind Ohio State.

It’s worth noting the special connection head coach James Franklin had to Driver on the recruiting trail. Franklin was a member of the Green Bay Packers coaching staff in 1995, where he coached Driver for a season. Apparently, a strong enough bond was forged during their brief time together, and that may have helped get an inside track on the recruiting process.

While they have zero five-star recruits, Penn State has a pretty hefty amount of four-stars, now adding their 13th recruit with Driver.

The Nittany Lions have been crushing it with their recruits, and Driver is a huge get.

Penn State scores major commitment from Dani Dennis-Sutton in loaded Class of 2022

Penn State won a massive recruiting battle for a four-star defensive lineman from Maryland.

[mm-video type=video id=01fb8k0jfx1hpakyx966 playlist_id=01ey902ehrs6e9bvhw player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fb8k0jfx1hpakyx966/01fb8k0jfx1hpakyx966-10b34edc8820ae3effce01ccc824aa22.jpg]

Penn State’s recruiting efforts have been as hot as the mid-summer heat waves we have had to endure. Things got a little hotter on Thursday with the addition of another high-quality addition to the already stacked Class of 2022.

Dani Dennis-Sutton, a defensive lineman from Maryland, made his commitment announcement on Thursday evening, choosing Penn State over two finalists from the SEC (Alabama and Georgia). Dennis-Sutton is a four-star recruit according to the 247 Sports composite rankings (Rivals actually ranks him as a five-star recruit), and his commitment has already been compared to the addition of former linebacker Micah Parsons by some recruiting analysts.

At 6′-5″ and 250 pounds, Dennis-Sutton should be a force to reckon with on the defensive line of the Nittany Lions. And it doesn’t hurt that Penn State has developed a pretty solid reputation in developing defensive linemen over the years.

Dennis-Sutton was rated as a top 50 player in the nation (No. 50 on the 247 Sports composite player rankings for Class of 2022), and the highest-rated player in the state of Maryland.

Dennis-Sutton is the latest defensive lineman to join the Penn State Class of 2022. Penn State has previously added four-star players in Ken Talley, Tyreese Fearbry, and Zane Durant. Penn State also added Kaleb Artis, one of the top recruits out of New York to this recruiting cycle’s defensive line haul.

Penn State’s current recruiting class currently sits in a solid No. 2 overall in the nation, with the Nittany Lions still chasing Ohio State for the top spot (and the Buckeyes are unlikely to yield from the top of the pack any time soon). Penn State is on track to sign the best recruiting class of the James Franklin era. Not bad coming off a 4-5 season.

Penn State lands in top 7 for four-star RB in Class of 2022

Penn State is in the mix for Virginia running back Ramon Brown in the Class of 2022.

Penn State continues to be building momentum in the Class of 2022. Already with a top 10 class to look forward to as of right now, the Nittany Lions are hoping to land a commitment from four-star running back Ramon Brown of Virginia. As Brown’s recruiting process continues into the summer, Penn State remains in the hunt.

Brown released his top seven schools this week, and Penn State lands squarely in the thick of the race. Brown announced his seven schools included Penn State, Maryland, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

Only one crystal ball prediction is on record with 247 Sports, and it names Penn State as the favorite. Brown currently has an official visit set for June 11. It is the third official visit on the calendar for Brown. Brown will visit West Virginia (June 4) and South Carolina (June 7) prior to his trip to Happy Valley. Visits to Maryland (June 18) and Virginia Tech (June 25) will round out his June college tour. Brown has offers from all of these schools.

UGA football offers big Virginia WR Leon Haughton Jr.

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to wide receiver Leon Haughton Jr. of Benedictine College Preparatory in Richmond, Virginia

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to wide receiver Leon Haughton Jr., who is a member of the class of 2022. Haughton Jr. is a junior at Benedictine College Preparatory in Richmond, Virginia.

Leon Haughton Jr. is rated as a three-star recruit. He’s got good size for a possession wide receiver at six-foot-four and he weighs about 200 pounds.

Nebraska, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Penn State, and more have already offered Haughton Jr. a football scholarship. We’ll let you know when he releases a list of top schools.

The three-star wide receiver announced his scholarship offer from the University of Georgia via his Twitter account:

Congratulations to the young man. We wish him the best moving forward.

UGA football among top six for 4-star RB Tevin White

The Georgia Bulldogs, Penn State, and more are among the top six for 4-star running back Tevin White, who plays for North Stafford HS.

The Georgia Bulldogs and a pair of SEC schools are competing to land the talented running back Tevin White. White plays high school football for North Stafford High School in Stafford, Virginia. He’s a member of the class of 2022, so he’s a junior in high school.

White will have a year to decide on his commitment, but is already confident in six schools: UGA, Arizona, Penn State, Duke, Tennessee, and Arizona State. White announced his top six schools via his Twitter account:

White is currently favored to attend Penn State, but you can never count the Georgia Bulldogs out in recruiting, especially when it comes to running backs.

Kirby Smart and UGA have two commitments in the class of 2022. One, C.J. Washington, plays inside linebacker, and the other, Marquis Groves-Killebrew, is a defensive back. The Dawgs have a long way to go in the class of 2022.

Fans should anticipate Georgia taking in one or two running backs in the class of 2022. This will depend on when players like Zamir White, James Cook, and Kenny McIntosh declare for the NFL Draft.

Tevin White is six-foot-one, weighs 205 pounds, and runs a 4.49 forty yard dash. At the moment, he’s received 18 college football scholarship offers.

UGA football target 4-star WR Jayden Thomas sets commitment date

The Georgia Bulldogs made the top five schools for Pace Academy WR Jayden Thomas

The Georgia Bulldogs made the top five schools for Jayden Thomas. Thomas is a four-star receiver who plays high school football at Pace Academy. He’s from Atlanta, Georgia, and is a member of the class of 2021. Now, Thomas is ready to make his commitment.

Pace Academy is a bit of a University of Georgia pipeline high school. Georgia has recruited talented players Andrew Thomas and Jamaree Salyer from Pace Academy.

Jayden Thomas announced his commitment date via Twitter:

In case you can’t see the tweet, Thomas will be committing Oct. 2. That is a special day for him because it is his grandma’s birthday.

At 6 feet, 1 inch, 200 pounds, Thomas has solid size. He will decide between UGA, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan and Arkansas.

Kirby Smart and Georgia have 15 commitments in the class of 2021. Thomas would be a great addition to the class. Can UGA persuade the four-star to stay in the Peach State?

Kirby Smart and the Dawgs have secured three straight elite recruiting classes. Look for the class of 2021 to be no different. Georgia has two wide receiver commitments: Adonai Mitchell, who flipped from Ole Miss, and Jackson Meeks.

Thomas frequently works out with Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver legend Terrence Edwards.
