Patriots announce 2023 rookie jersey numbers ahead of preseason opener

The jersey numbers for the Patriots’ 2023 rookies have been revealed.

The New England Patriots’ 2023 NFL draft class and undrafted free agents are ditching their temporarily assigned numbers for their actual game numbers.

On Thursday, the Patriots announced all of the new numbers ahead of their preseason opener against the Houston Texans.

With rosters being at 90 players at this stage, a lot of these numbers could change as rosters are finalized and numbers shift. It is also important to note that there are some players currently wearing the same number as another player on the roster. That is permitted in training camp, as long as the players aren’t not on the same side of the ball.

Let’s take a look at what numbers the rookies have decided to go with for the next few weeks of training camp.

Temporary jersey numbers revealed for Patriots’ rookies

Here are the temporary numbers for the Patriots’ 2023 rookies.

The New England Patriots have revealed the temporary jersey numbers for their rookies ahead of the open portion of voluntary OTAs, which is slated to start on Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the team revealed the jersey numbers for veteran acquisitions throughout the offseason, along with current roster players that changed their number from last season.

They followed that up with the randomly assigned numbers typically handed out to rookies in their first big practice session.

Those numbers will obviously change down the road as the NFL newbies settle into their respective roles for the team. But for now, here are the jersey numbers for the Patriots’ rookies at OTAs:

Jersey numbers revealed for newly-signed Patriots players

The jersey numbers for the new Patriots players have been revealed.

The 2023 season is starting to feel a bit more real with all of the newly-signed New England Patriots players officially being given jersey numbers on Wednesday.

It came through in a reveal from the team’s social media account.

Keep in mind, this list of players doesn’t include the 2023 rookie draft picks. So these are the veteran players the team picked up over the course of the offseason. It also includes a few current players that have switched jersey numbers.

The Patriots have already started voluntary OTAs, but those practices have been closed to reporters. That will change on Thursday, however, with the team finally set to open their doors and give people a sneak peek of what’s happening behind the curtains.

For now, here are the jersey numbers for the Patriots’ 2023 veteran acquisitions:

Patriots unveil new uniforms for the post-Brady era

With Tom Brady now a Buccaneer, the New England Patriots decided to change their uniforms for the post-Brady era.

When Tom Brady officially signed his contract to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, many media outlets and gaming companies quickly scrambled to create an image of Brady in a Bucs uniform. You know, those ones with the alarm clock lettering.

Fortunately, Brady won’t have to don that jersey this fall as the Bucs recently unveiled their new threads, which is a call back to their glory days of yesteryear, which included a Super Bowl championship in 2002. Brady will certainly look good in the Bucs color scheme after wearing those outdated Patriots uniforms the entirety of his 20-year career.

And while the Bucs have new unis to usher in the Brady era in Tampa Bay, the Patriots have decided to change their uniforms, as well, to usher in the post-Brady era in New England.

Take a look.

The Patriots promoted their Color Rush uniforms to their primary ones, something fans have been wanting for years since they were first introduced. As I noted the other week, the Patriots were in desperate need of a jersey upgrade and this is a great way to do it. Plus, those old jerseys belong to the Tom Brady era. Let them leave with him.
