The Brooklyn Nets announced on Wednesday that they have signed Kennedy Chandler and Patrick Gardner.

After the Brooklyn Nets beat the Miami Heat in their preseason finale on Wednesday, the Nets had more to announce after the game.

The Nets announced on Wednesday that they have signed Kennedy Chandler and Patrick Gardner.

Chandler, 21, was the 38th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and spent one season with the Memphis Grizzlies before being waived. Chandler played for Brooklyn’s summer league team in Las Vegas and made an impact using his speed and athleticism to make some jaw-dropping plays.

Gardner, 24, went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft and after that, he played in the summer league with the Miami Heat. Gardner, who is Egyptian, played for Egypt in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and had some solid games for them as well.

From looking at the roster, it seems that Chandler and Gardner will be part of Brooklyn’s G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets, for this upcoming season.

What can the Brooklyn Nets expect from Patrick Gardner?

Here’s some of what the Brooklyn Nets can expect in training camp from center Patrick Gardner.

Brooklyn Nets center Patrick Gardner has finished representing his country, Egypt, in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and is now looking towards trying to impress the Nets in training camp. Gardner could fill an important role for Brooklyn as a big off the bench who can shoot, but his performance in camp will determine if he’s ready to contribute at the NBA level.

Gardner, 24, signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Nets towards the end of July and with the deal, he is able to show what he can do against NBA competition and Brooklyn can go from there. The good thing for Gardner is he was able to put more decent tape out there for teams other than Brooklyn to see.

In five games with Egypt in the World Cup, Gardner averaged 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 38.9% from the field and 31.6% from three-point range. Here’s some of the skills that he brings into training camp with the Nets:

Brooklyn Nets center Patrick Gardner has been invited to come to training camp with Brooklyn in the fall, but until then, he is showing what he can do on a basketball court on the world stage. What Gardner has been doing thus far in the 2023 FIBA World Cup has been wonderful to watch.

In Egypt’s 100-72 win over Mexico on Tuesday, Gardner had 20 points and seven rebounds to help lead his team to the blowout victory. Impressively, Gardner went 7-of-12- from field, including going 4-of-7 from three-point land in a continuation of what he did at the college level.

Gardner is one of Egypt’s best players and while they are just 1-2 in this World Cup, Gardner has shown that he brings more to the table in addition to his shooting ability. Against Mexico, Gardner also had three assists to add more value to what he was already expected to do from his days at Marist College.

Brooklyn Nets center Patrick Gardner scored 13 points for Egypt in its 89-74 loss to Montenegro on Sunday. Gardner, who signed with the Nets this summer on an exhibit 10 contract, was tied for the second-leading scorer on the team with Anas Mahmoud.

Gardner played the second-most minutes for Egypt (34) and in that team, he did a little bit of everything for his squad. He scored 13 points, but it came on 3-for-12 shooting from the field and 2-of-6 from behind the three-point line.

A significant amount of Gardner’s point production came from the free-throw line as he went 5-of-7 from the charity stripe, an effort that shows how aggressive he was with the ball in his hands. Unfortunately, it was another loss for Egypt that dropped the team to an 0-2 record for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

For Nets fans looking to see what Gardner could bring to Brooklyn, Sunday’s game was a great example of that.

Brooklyn Nets center Patrick Gardner, who signed with the Nets on an Exhibit 10 contract earlier this summer, saw his first FIBA action for the Egyptian National team on Friday. Gardner had a subpar performance for Egypt as they suffered a 93-67 blowout at the hands of Lithuania in the first round of Group D play.

In a little over 13 minutes, Gardner had two points, two rebounds, and one assist while shooting 1-of-2 from the field. Gardner, 24, went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft and as a result, spent some time on the Miami Heat summer league before being signed by Brooklyn essentially for a look in training camp.

According to hoopsrumors.com, Exhibit 10 contracts are “one-year deals worth the minimum salary. They don’t come with any compensation protection, but can include an optional bonus worth as little as $5K and – in 2023/24 – as much as $75K.” Basically, Gardner will probably play in the G League for Brooklyn’s affiliate, the Long Island Nets, next season.

Nets to sign former Marist standout Patrick Gardner to Exhibit 10 contract

Gardner appeared in four games with the Heat in summer league, averaging 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds on 50% shooting from 3-point range.

Former Marist standout Patrick Gardner, who went undrafted this year, has reportedly agreed to a contract with the Brooklyn Nets, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

It was reported by NetsDaily that Gardner will sign an Exhibit 10 contract.

Gardner was named to the All-MAAC second team last season after averaging 19.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 38.3% shooting from 3-point range. He ranked second in the conference in scoring and sixth in rebounding.

The 6-foot-11 Gardner appeared in four games with the Miami Heat in summer league, averaging 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds on 50% shooting from beyond the arc. He produced his best game in his final outing on July 14 with 14 points and six rebounds.

Gardner will likely participate with the Nets in training camp and spend next season in the G League with the Long Island Nets as part of his Exhibit 10 contract. He can receive a bonus of up to $75,000 if he is waived and stays with Long Island for at least 60 days.

Report: Brooklyn Nets have agreed to deal with Patrick Gardner

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Brooklyn Nets have agreed to a deal with undrafted rookie big man Patrick Gardner.

[anyclip pubname=”2123″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8170″]

The Brooklyn Nets have one Two-Way spot left to fill before next season and it’s possible that they have a player who can fill that spot.

Per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Nets have agreed to a deal with big man Patrick Gardner. As of this writing, it is unknown what kind of deal Gardner agreed to, but it’s most likely a Two-Way contract given the fact that Brooklyn used its last spot on the active roster on forward Darius Bazley.

Gardner, standing at 6-foot-11 and 245 pounds, averaged 19.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 38.3% from three-point land last season for the Marist Red Foxes. Gardner, 24, comes into the NBA as an older prospect, but that’s because he spent six years in college with two of their seasons not being played because of a medical redshirt during his 2018-19 season at Nassau (NY) Community College and his 2020-21 season being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gardner played in the NBA summer league for the Miami Heat and in three appearances, he averaged 5.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 37.5% from the field and 45.5% from three-point range. As Scotto pointed out in his tweet, Gardner will be playing for the Egyptian National Team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup later this summer.
