Panthers Week 15 inactives: WR DJ Moore is a go

Panthers WR DJ Moore is active for the Week 15 tilt with the Bills. Cult favorite and rookie OL Deonte Brown, however, is not.

With the Buffalo Bills trying to hang on to their playoff lives and, ya know, just being a flat out better team, the Carolina Panthers certainly need all hands on deck this afternoon. And a pair of those hands, luckily, belong to their best wideout.

DJ Moore, who entered the weekend listed as questionable for the Week 15 matchup, is officially active. Moore had been a limited participant for the entire week of practice due to a hamstring tweak.

The fourth-year receiver is fresh off two of his better outings of the year, where he went for 103 yards on four receptions in Miami followed by a six-catch, 84-yard day against Atlanta last Sunday.

Guards Michael Jordan and John Miller are also getting the green light after missing the Week 14 loss to the Falcons. They’ll, presumably, regain their starting spots on the interior.

Here’s, however, who won’t be joining Moore, Jordan and Miller in uniform for Carolina today:

CB A.J. Bouye
WR Shi Smith
LB Kamal Martin
OL Deonte Brown
OL Trent Scott
DE Darryl Johnson

And for Buffalo:

WR Emmanuel Sanders
RB Zack Moss
DE A.J. Epenesa

Panthers Week 12 inactives: WR Terrace Marshall Jr. a healthy scratch

Panthers rookie WR Terrace Marshall Jr. is a healthy scratch for Week 12’s matchup with the Dolphins.

Expectations were high coming into 2021 for Carolina Panthers receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. Unfortunately, he has yet to get off the ground here in his rookie campaign.

The second-round pick was amongst the inactives for the Panthers in their Week 12 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Since he had not been listed on any of the week’s injury reports, the rookie will be sidelined on a healthy scratch.

Marshall Jr., who was expected to effectively take up the No. 3 spot behind  DJ Moore and Robby Anderson, has amassed just 14 catches for 116 yards and no touchdowns over nine games. He missed the team’s outings in Weeks 7 and 8 due to a concussion.

Fellow rookie wideout Shi Smith, instead, is active—presumably taking Marshall Jr.’s place.

Here’s the full list of inactives for Carolina:

WR Terrace Marshall Jr.
G John Miller
QB Matt Barkley
S Kenny Robinson
CB Rashaan Melvin
LB Kamal Martin
TE Colin Thompson

And here’s who’s down for Miami:

CB Trill Williams
S Brandon Jones
S Will Parks
LB Darius Hodge
TE Adam Shaheen
DT John Jenkins

Panthers Week 11 inactives: John Miller active, gets start at RG

Panthers RG John Miller is active and will get his starting spot back in Week 11 vs. Washington.

The Carolina Panthers’ offensive line pitched a shutout in their Week 10 upset win over the Arizona Cardinals, allowing zero sacks of either Cam Newton or P.J. Walker. Now, they’re getting a little relief this afternoon against the Washington Football Team.

Less than 24 hours after officially being activated, John Miller will be in uniform and will get the start back at right guard for the unit. He will take over for Trent Scott, who held down the duties on the interior last week.

Miller, thanks to a bothersome ankle, is fresh off a three-week stint on the injured reserve. He’ll slot in alongside left tackle Dennis Daley, left guard Michael Jordan, center Pat Elflein and right tackle Taylor Moton.

Here’s who won’t be slotting into anything for the Panthers today:

QB Matt Barkley
WR Shi Smith
S Kenny Robinson
CB Rashaan Melvin
DT Phil Hoskins

And for Washington, we won’t be seeing a few of old friends in action today:

WR Curtis Samuel
TE Ricky Seals-Jones
DE Shaka Toney
OT Saahdiq Charles
WR Antonio Gandy-Golden
CB Corn Elder

Panthers Week 1 inactives: New acquisitions out vs. Jets

We knew WR Shi Smith would be out for the opener against the Jets. What other Panthers will be joining him on the sideline today?

The Carolina Panthers released their list of inactive players an hour and a half ahead of kickoff against the New York Jets on Sunday. Here’s the group:

WR Shi Smith (shoulder injury)
G Michael Jordan (healthy)
DE Darryl Johnson (healthy)
DT Phil Hoskins (healthy)
G Deonte Brown (healthy)
LB Clay Johnston (healthy)

Smith’s status, of course, should come as no shock. The rookie receiver was already deemed out for this one as he nurses a shoulder injury.

Taking his spot, unofficially, will be wideout Alex Erickson. Erickson was just signed to and elevated from the practice squad to undertake punt return duties for the opener.

Jordan and Johnson, who were both acquired over the last two weeks, are also down.

Perhaps the most surprising inactive is the rookie Brown. With starting right guard John Miller out after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, some extra offensive line depth could’ve been useful, especially for a less-than-stellar unit. Nonetheless, Dennis Daley takes the starting nod for Miller.

Here’s who the Jets have out for the contest:

RB Josh Adams
RB La’Mical Perine
LB Quincy Williams
CB Jason Pinnock
DL Jonathan Marshall
WR Keelan Cole

Panthers Week 16 inactives: DE Brian Burns will play vs. Washington

Brian Burns will be in the lineup for the Panthers today, who are on the road against Washington.

Here is today’s inactives list for Carolina.

RB Christian McCaffrey
OT Russell Okung
CB Troy Pride Jr.
QB Will Grier
DB Natrell Jamerson
DT Woodrow Hamilton
DE Austin Larkin

Burns was listed as questionable coming in and defensive coordinator Phil Snow had said earlier this week that he couldn’t go, however, Burns was reportedly pushing to play. He will likely be on a pitch count though, and Marquis Haynes will start.

Meanwhile, here is Washington’s list.

QB Alex Smith
WR Terry McLaurin
RB Lamar Miller
OLB Kevin Pierre-Louis
OT David Steinmetz
LB Thomas Davis

Missing your starting quarterback and top wide receiver will hurt any team, especially this one. The embattled, recently de-captained backup QB Dwayne Haskins will be taking Smith’s place in the lineup.

Check back later for highlights and analysis.

Panthers Week 15 inactives: Christian McCaffrey, Russell Okung out vs. Packers

Here is the list of players who are inactive for tonight’s game.

The Carolina Panthers will kick off against the Green Bay Packers in a little over an hour.

Here is the list of players who are inactive for tonight’s primetime matchup.

RB Christian McCaffrey
G Dennis Daley
OT Russell Okung
QB Will Grier
DB Natrell Jamerson
OL Aaron Monteiro
DE Austin Larkin

With Daley and Okung both out, Carolina’s offensive line is a bit thin. To add more depth, the team called up offensive tackle Matt Kaskey from the practice squad. Monteiro was promoted as well but won’t be in the lineup.

In the early portion of the season Grier and P.J. Walker were trading places on the inactive list from week to week. However, over time Walker has clearly established himself as the No. 2 QB on the roster. He will back up Teddy Bridgewater again tonight.

As for Green Bay, here is their inactives list.

QB Jordan Love
TE Jace Sternberger
OL Simon Stepaniak
OLB Jonathan Garvin
CB Josh Jackson

Check back for highlights and analysis after the game.

Panthers Week 14 inactives: Christian McCaffrey, Greg Little out vs. Broncos

Here is Carolina’s list of inactives for today’s game.

We are about 80 minutes from kickoff between the Panthers and the Broncos. Unfortunately, some key players won’t be in the lineup.

Here is Carolina’s list of inactives for today’s game.

RB Christian McCaffrey
G Dennis Daley
OT Greg Little
QB Will Grier
DE Marquis Haynes
DT Mike Panasiuk
S Kenny Robinson

On the bright side, cornerback Donte Jackson is returning after missing the last few games to heal his lingering toe injury. Also, they aren’t listed here, but wide receiver D.J. Moore and defensive tackle Zach Kerr are out as they are on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

For the other side, here are Denver’s inactives.

WR Tyrie Cleveland
S Trey Marshall
LB Mark Barron
G Graham Glasgow
OT Garett Bolles
DT Sylvester Williams
OLB Anthony Chickillo

The Broncos are missing two starting offensive linemen with Glasgow and Bolles out. That should create more opportunities for Brian Burns and the other Panthers pass rushers.

Enjoy the game. We will be posting highlights throughout and analysis at halftime and afterwards.

Panthers Week 9 inactives: Jeremy Chinn ruled out vs. Chiefs

Panthers Week 9 inactives: Jeremy Chinn ruled out vs. Chiefs

The Panthers will be playing without their star rookie Jeremy Chinn against the Chiefs today. He has been ruled out due to a knee injury which had him limited in practice this week. Starting left tackle Russell Okung was also downgraded on Saturday and is not traveling with the team.

Here is the full inactives list for Week 9.

DB/LB Jeremy Chinn
OT Russell Okung
QB P.J. Walker
WR Marken Michel
S Sean Chandler
G Michael Schofield
DT Bruce Hector

The Panthers will apparently go with a by-committee approach to replace the numerous things Chinn does for this defense, according to Phil Snow.

On offense, expect another rotation at left tackle with Okung out yet again. Dennis Daley will get the start, though. Walker being listed here means that Will Grier is the backup QB behind Teddy Bridgewater this week, a change from the last several games.

Here is the list for the Chiefs.

WR Sammy Watkins
S Tedrick Thompson
LB Darius Harris
DE Demone Harris
OT Mitchell Schwartz
TE Ricky Seals-Jones
DT Khalen Saunders

Kansas City has enough weapons for Watkins ‘absence to not matter much. Schwartz is a blow, though. Former Panther Mike Remmers has been playing right tackle in his place.

Check back after the game for highlights and analysis.

Panthers Week 7 inactives: G John Miller ruled out vs. Saints

The Panthers are short a few players for today’s game against the Saints.

The Panthers come into today’s game against the Saints suffering from bad luck with injuries, especially along the interior of the offensive line and in the defensive backfield.

Here is a look at the players who won’t be in the lineup.

G John Miller
G Mike Horton
QB Will Grier
CB Stantley Thomas-Oliver
WR Marken Michel

With Miller and Horton both being inactive, Dennis Daley will be starting at right guard today. Meanwhle, P.J. Walker is the backup for Teddy Bridgewater for the second straight week.

On defense, they aren’t listed here, but cornerback Rasul Douglas (COVID-19) and safety Juston Burris (IR) are both out. Rookies Troy Pride Jr. and Sam Franklin will start in their respective places. Eli Apple and Donte Jackson were questionable, but both are in uniform.

As for New Orleans, they’ll be without the following players:

WR Michael Thomas
S D.J. Swearinger
G Nick Easton
OL Derrick Kelly
DL Malcolm Roach

Losing Thomas is obviously a huge blow for the Saints. No. 2 wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is also on the team’s COVID-19/reserve list, so the Saints are really hurting at this spot.

Check back for highlights and analysis after the game.

Panthers Week 6 inactives: WR Curtis Samuel ruled out vs. Bears

The Panthers have released their inactives list for today’s game at home against the Bears.

The Panthers have released their inactives list for today’s game at home against the Bears.

Here are the players who won’t be in the lineup.

QB Will Grier
WR Curtis Samuel
CB Eli Apple
G Dennis Daley
DT Woodrow Hamilton

Samuel being ruled out is a blow. However, the team will have wide receiver Keith Kirkwood available for the first time this season. He was activated off the injured reserve list yesterday.

They aren’t listed here, but both defensive tackle Kawann Short and defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos are now on IR. Short is out for the season and Gross-Matos can return in three weeks. Starting running back Christian McCaffrey remains sidelined with his high ankle sprain. Also, backup center Tyler Larsen was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list yesterday.

Chicago will be without the following players:

CB Duke Shelley
S Deon Bush
G Arlington Hambright
WR Riley Ridley
OLB Trevis Gipson

Check back later for highlights and analysis after the game.
