4-star LB Aaron Chiles names top schools

Georgia football makes the top schools list for linebacker Aaron Chiles, who is the top-ranked player in Maryland

Aaron Chiles, a four-star linebacker, has named his top 10 schools including the Georgia Bulldogs. Chiles is one of the best linebacker recruits in the junior class.

Chiles plays high school school football for Our Lady Of Good Counsel in Onley, Maryland. Onley is located north of Washington D.C. and southwest of Baltimore.

Chiles received a scholarship offer from the Georgia Bulldogs football program back in April 2022. Chiles is a member of the class of 2024. He’s considered the No. 88 recruit in his class, the top-ranked player in Maryland, and the seventh-ranked 2024 linebacker.

The Our Lady Of Good Counsel standout considers Georgia, LSU, Florida State, Clemson, Penn State, Florida, Maryland, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Ohio State to be his top schools.

Chiles plans to play in the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game. The four-star linebacker has recent scholarship offers from Texas, Indiana, and Oregon.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker has taken a recent visit to Michigan. Aaron Chiles announced his top 10 schools via Twitter:

Georgia football is always looking for linebackers. The Bulldogs produce as many NFL draft picks at the position as any other school in college football.

Kirby Smart and Georgia previously signed four-star linebacker recruit Jamon Dumas-Johnson from Maryland as a member of the class of 2021. Dumas-Johnson is an example of Georgia’s excellent development. He recorded 70 total tackles and four sacks in his sophomore season in Athens, Georgia.

Freeman visits Maryland High School that has been kind to Notre Dame

Could two more Good Counsel players be headed to South Bend?

Although Maryland isn’t known across the country for having a large contingent to football players to matriculate to play at the Power-5 level, but that doesn’t mean the state doesn’t have solid football. The Irish have still recently found two players from the state to make contributions in South Bend.

Most notably defensive back Cam Hart, who played a huge role his past fall and Davis Sherwood who just completed his first season playing for the Irish. Today, new head coach Marcus Freeman visited Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and the question is, who is on his radar.

If I had to guess, it isn’t a 2022 prospect but 2023 defensive end’s Dylan Gooden and Neeo Avery. Currently, both prospectus hold Irish offer’s so there is a very good chance Freeman was there to see them. Due to NCAA recruiting rules, he was not able to speak to them, but visiting the school is more than enough to show to Avery and Gooden that they are wanted in Blue and Gold.

Inside linebacker recruit Davis Sherwood commits to Notre Dame

St. Patrick’s Day has been terrific for Notre Dame’s linebacker corps on the recruiting front.

St. Patrick’s Day has been terrific for Notre Dame’s linebacker corps on the recruiting front. Earlier in the day, the Irish got a commitment from the highly touted Joshua Burnham. While Burnham won’t arrive for another year, the Irish’s linebackers will get an immediate addition from another recruit who also committed Wednesday. His name is Davis Sherwood, and he’s set to graduate from Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, Maryland:

The Irish definitely could use some reinforcements at inside linebackers after the graduations of Drew White and Bo Bauer. Sherwood, who weighs in at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, is a good candidate to keep Notre Dame’s recent success at that position going. He was a captain and all-conference player in high school, and he also plays lacrosse. At the very least, he has the toughness to compete with athletes at the next level.

Sherwood scored a 1450 on the PSAT and has a 4.6 GPA, so it should come as no surprise that many Ivy League schools and nearly all military schools were after his services. Instead, he’ll go with the university with a richer football history and a solid academic reputation of its own. It’s difficult to argue against that, so kudos to Dave Peloquin for working his magic.
