Injury Report: Otto Porter Jr. doubtful (foot soreness) for Game 4 vs. Mavs

After exiting Game 3 early due to foot soreness, Otto Porter Jr. is considered doubtful for Game 4 against the Dallas Mavericks.

During the second quarter of Game 3 against the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors forward Otto Porter Jr. appeared to suffer an injury after finishing a strong layup at the rim.

Porter Jr. later exited the contest and did not return due to left foot soreness. Although Porter Jr.’s postgame X-rays came back negative, the veteran is considered doubtful for Game 4, per Steve Kerr.

Via @anthonyVslater on Twitter:

Despite his recent injury struggles, Porter Jr. is coming off an impressive stretch. The eight-year pro has tallied double-figures in scoring off the bench in four of his last six games. During the postseason, Porter Jr. is averaging 5.5 points on 46.7% shooting from the floor with 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 20.7 minutes per contest.

If Porter Jr. is ruled out for Game 4. the Warriors will need to go deeper into their bench. Steve Kerr could opt to play rookie Jonathan Kuminga or veterans Nemanja Bjelica and Juan Toscano-Anderson off the bench in Porter Jr.’s place.

The Warriors will have the chance to sweep the Mavericks in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on Tuesday. Game 4 is set to tip at 6 p.m. at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Tuesday.

Injury Report: Otto Poter Jr. exits Game 3 vs. Mavs with left foot soreness

During the second quarter of Game 3 against the Mavericks, Otto Porter Jr. exited the contest with left foot soreness.

During the second quarter of Game 3, the Golden State Warriors lost a key piece of their rotation due to injury. Otto Porter Jr. exited the contest against the Dallas Mavericks after suffering an apparent injury while finishing a contested layup at the bucket.

Porter Jr. appeared to be in pain after converting the bucket at the rim. Porter Jr. was subbed out of the contest after hobbling on the court.

Via @NBCSWarriors on Twitter:

Porter Jr. was ruled out for the remainder of the contest due to left foot soreness. Porter Jr.’s injury was the second foot injury he’s dealt with during the Warriors’ current playoff run. Porter. Jr missed Game 6 against the Grizzlies with soreness in his right foot.

Via @WarriorsPR on Twitter:

Despite Porter Jr.’s X-Ray returning negative, Steve Kerr called the veteran’s foot injury “definitely concerning,” per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Via @anthonyVslater on Twitter:

The Warriors were still able to hold off the Mavericks without Porter Jr. for a 109-100 win on the road in Dallas. Porter Jr. finished the game with two points on 1-of-2 shooting from the floor with a rebound in seven minutes before leaving the game.

Outside of games where he’s made an early exit due to injury, Porter Jr. has registered double-figures in scoring in four consecutive contests. Without Porter Jr., the Warriors will have to continue to stretch out their bench. Juan Toscano-Anderson and Moses Moody received minutes off the bench in Game 3.

If Porter Jr. isn’t available for Golden State’s chance to close out in Game 4, Jonathan Kuminga, Nemanja Bjelica or Toscano-Anderson could see an increased role against the Mavericks.

Injury Report: Otto Porter Jr. (foot soreness) probable for Game 1 of Western Conference Finals vs. Mavs

After missing Game 6 against the Grizzlies due to foot soreness, Otto Porter Jr. is probable for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Mavs.

To punch a ticket to the Western Conference Finals, the Golden State Warriors had to close out the Memphis Grizzlies without a key veteran off the bench in Game 6.

After an early exit in Game 5, Otto Porter Jr. was ruled out for Game 6 against the Grizzlies due to soreness in his right foot. Despite Porter Jr.’s absence, the Warriors were still able to seal a victory over the Grizzlies to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

Following a few days off before the start of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, Porter Jr. could be close to returning to the rotation.

Prior to Game 1, Porter Jr. is listed as probable for Wednesday’s contest at Chase Center.

Via @kendra__andrews on Twitter:

Before leaving Game 5 with an injury, Porter Jr. recorded his two best performances in the postseason. The veteran got hot from beyond the arc, drilling nine total 3s while tallying double-figure scoring performances in both Game 3 and Game 4 against the Grizzlies.

During the postseason, Porter Jr. is averaging 4.8 points on 38.3 % shooting from the floor with 3.9 boards and 2.3 assists in 21.5 minutes per contest.

Along with giving the Warriors a proven veteran scorer in the rotation, Porter Jr.’s return will give Steve Kerr some flexibility with his lineup. The Warriors can manage to use a combination of Porter Jr., Jonathan Kuminga, Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney alongside their core group that features Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins.

Game 1 against the Mavs is set to start at 6 p.m. PT on Wednesday in the Bay Area.

On the second night of a road back-to-back, the Golden State Warriors will give veterans Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Otto Porter Jr. a rest night against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

Both Juan Toscano-Anderson and Otto Porter Jr. are listed as questionable against the Denver Nuggets on Monday.
