Ohio State basketball’s freshman and transfers get their new numbers

Might have to get a Devin Royal jersey soon #GoBucks

It’s that time of year again where [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] men’s basketball’s newest players are given their number assignments for this coming season.

In this day and age of most collegiate sports, there is plenty of turnover from year to year. That is no different for the Buckeye hoops team as they welcomed in four new freshman along with three transfers during the 2023 offseason.

The seven new players represent over half the active roster, so this coming seasons team will look much different than last year’s disappointing squad. Find out below what number each new member of the Ohio State men’s basketball team will be wearing when the season tip’s off.

Ohio State basketball offers instate 2026 small forward

The Buckeyes are looking at keeping the best instate in 2026 #GoBucks

Over the last two recruiting classes, [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] basketball has signed 3 out of 9 players from their home state. If the offers going out to 2026 prospects are any indication, it seems like head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] is trying to create a fence around the states top prospects.

Recently point guard Marcus Johnson was offered a scholarship and now another Ohioan from his class has been, small forward [autotag]T.J. Crumble[/autotag].

At 6-foot, 8-inches, and 195 pounds, Crumble brings an element of size that the Buckeye roster would love to have. Although he isn’t ranked at the moment, not many 2026 prospects are, he is still viewed as one of the best players in the country.

These two offers are very big, especially considering how far out Crumble and Johnson are. The two know each other as well, as they are shown here working out together. Smart move by Holtmann offering both of them.

What we learned about Ohio State basketball’s loss to Minnesota

It feels like we keep saying it, but this loss hurts #GoBucks

This wasn’t how the Ohio State basketball team envisioned playing against a [autotag]Minnesota[/autotag] team that had yet to win a conference game this season. The Gophers battled [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] all game, and never folded and kept playing hard.

The Buckeyes wouldn’t be able to match the visitors’ energy, resulting in a third loss in a row and potentially some panic starting in Columbus. The loss sends the Buckeyes to a 10-6 record.

Head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] got his starting center back, [autotag]Zed Key[/autotag] (even though he came off the bench), but it wasn’t enough for Ohio State to get back into the win column.

It obviously wasn’t all pretty for the Buckeyes and here is what we learned about their 70-67 disappointing loss to Minnesota.

What we learned about Ohio State’s road loss to Maryland

Not the Buckeyes best effort #GoBucks

The Buckeyes held a lead going into the half, but the start of the second stanza would be crushing for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag]. [autotag]Maryland[/autotag] would build a 14-point lead and never relinquished it through the end of the game, winning 80-73.

It was the second loss in-a-row for the basketball Bucks, who fell to 10-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play. It is the first losing streak this season and the Big Ten portion of the schedule is just getting started.

There wasn’t much good to come out of this game, as it was a struggle for Ohio State much of the contest even with the halftime lead. Find out what we learned from this Buckeye defeat.
