One of the best running backs on the west coast recent listed the Ducks firmly in the mix for his commitment.

[jwplayer tbRfbrux]

One of the best running backs in the 2023 class, 4-star Jayden Limar, recently announced his recruiting cutdown and made sure to keep the Oregon Ducks firmly in the mix.

Limar, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound player who is ranked as the No. 12 RB in the 2023 class, listed the Ducks along with Arizona, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Washington State.

He took a visit to Eugene earlier in the year, and I had the chance to sit down and talk to him about his time seeing the facilities, while also meeting new head coach Dan Lanning for the first time.

ā€œI think it went great,” Limar said about the visit. “I went down there really just to get to know the whole new staff and I felt like I got to know just about everybody. So I think it went great. What stood out most was probably just the staff, they just got there and a lot of them are new and from out of the state and everything, but just how passionate they are about the program is what impressed me the most.ā€

Oregon Ducks projected to miss out on coveted 5-star QB in 2023 class

A new recruiting projection has one of the best remaining QBs in the 2023 class passing on the Oregon Ducks.

[jwplayer Jp7cQS86]

A couple of days ago, the Oregon Ducks missed out on arguably their biggest quarterback target in the 2023 recruiting class, with 5-star Nico Iamaleava Jr. announcing his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers.

While it is a bummer for Oregon fans to miss out on Iamaleava, who is the No. 4 QB in 2023 and the No. 7 player overall, there are still a number of QB prospects that the Ducks will be after. However, a recent prediction from On3’s Chad Simmons has one of those highly-rated prospects ā€” 5-star QB Jaden Rashada ā€” landing with Ole Miss, rather than the Ducks, as many Oregon fans would hope.

The recruitment for Rashada, who stands at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds, and is the No. 5 QB in the 2023 class, is believed to be between Ole Miss, Oregon, UCLA, Miami, and BYU. Now that Iamaleava is off of the board, the Ducks are expected to ramp up their recruitment for Rashada and try hard to get him to Eugene this spring and ultimately earn his commitment.

The 10 best remaining quarterbacks in the 2023 recruiting class

You can count on the Oregon Ducks to try hard to sign one of these remaining QBs in the 2023 class.

A major domino in the college football recruiting world fell on Monday morning, with 5-star QB Nico Iamaleava Jr. announcing that he would be committing to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Iamaleava Jr. chose Tennessee over schools like the Oregon Ducks, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Miami Hurricanes.

With Nico off the board, there are still a number of highly-rated QB prospects left without a commitment announced, but as we get closer to spring games across the nation, you can expect some more dominoes will start to fall. It is always thought that getting a QB to commit to your team early on will help with the rest of the recruiting class because they can help draw other talents to your roster.

So when looking at the 2023 class as a whole, who are the top passers remaining that will likely commit to a school in the next couple of months? Let’s take a look:

Where does Oregon go now when it comes to recruiting a QB in the 2023 class?

With the expected news that Nico Iamaleava Jr. has committed to Tennessee, Oregon’s efforts will likely ramp up on recruiting a new 5-star QB to Eugene.

[jwplayer IYJYqt0T]

On Monday morning, the unfortunate but expected news that 5-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava Jr. was committing to the Tennessee Volunteers came out, confirming what many believed was a foregone conclusion at this point.

Iamaleava, who is the No. 4 QB in the 2023 class and No. 7 player overall, listed the Oregon Ducks in his top-5 a week ago, and was projected by many to be heading to Eugene after a wildly successful visit to the facilities earlier in the year. However, a late visit to Knoxville flipped many of the predictions, and rumors about a potential $8 million NIL deal with Tennessee are expected to be the culprit.

So with Iamaleava now off the board, where do the Ducks turn? What does Oregon do?

Looking at the remaining QB class, they’re likely going to be just fine, and it’s because they are expected to be in the running for 5-star QB Jaden Rashada, who they’ve made a strong push for over the past couple of weeks.

Rashada is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound QB from Pittsburgh, CA, who is rated as the No. 5 QB in the nation, and No. 31 player overall. He has visited Oregon and was said to love the facilities and coaching staff, On top of that, it’s become clear recently that the Ducks ā€” and more specifically offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham ā€” really want him on their team.

With all quarterback recruits, it is important to try and get them to commit early on in the process so they can help build out the rest of the class by helping draw other players to your school. We just recently saw this with Iamaleava, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Rashada move quickly in the next few weeks and months as well.

In the recruiting game, the top-rated QBs can have a domino effect on each other. The first domino just fell. Now it’s time to see if the next one falls in the direction of the Ducks.

Breaking: 5-star QB Nico Iamaleava Jr. commits to Tennessee over Oregon Ducks

5-star QB Nico Iamaleava Jr. is off the board, choosing to commit to the Tennessee Volunteers over the Oregon Ducks.

[jwplayer LCTahqD7]

One of the top quarterbacks in the 2023 recruiting class is now off the board, with 5-star Nico Iamaleava Jr. announcing on Monday that he would be committing to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Iamaleava, who is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 QB in the class, and No. 7 player overall, listed the Oregon Ducks in his top-5 just a week ago, and was predicted by many to be headed to Eugene after taking a visit earlier this year to the Oregon facilities. However, a recent trip to Knoxville swayed some things, and a hefty NIL offer from the Volunteers looks like it has done the trick in sending this elite QB prospect to the SEC.

While it is a bummer to miss out on a player like Iamaleava, there are still a number of highly-rated 5-star QBs in the 2023 class, and the Ducks are certainly in the mix for a few of them. We will see over the coming weeks which guys Oregon really makes a run after, but things have certainly changed now that Nico is off the board.

Oregon Ducks make the cut for 5-star Francis Mauigoa, No. 2 OT in 2023 class

With Dan Lanning and Adrien Klemm, Oregon is routinely in the mix for blue-chip offensive linemen. They recently made the cut for the No. 2 OT in the 2023 class.

[jwplayer epvL0j19]

The Oregon Ducks have made a habit of putting their name in the mix for some of the top talent in the country under Dan Lanning and the new coaching staff.

That’s not to say that Mario Cristobal and his crew of recruiters were not contending for highly-rated players during his time in Eugene, but it feels like over the past month or two, the Ducks have been connected to a lot of high school recruits who happen to be rated as some of the very best players in the nation.

[lawrence-related id=21137]

That trend is continuing with 5-star OT Francis Mauigoa listing the Ducks in his most recent recruiting cut-down, narrowing his list of potential schools to 13. Mauigoa is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2023 class, and the No. 8 overall player in the nation. Standing at 6-foot-6, 325 pounds, it’s easy to see how Mauigoa could be rated so highly.

“Massive two-way lineman who shows high level potential on both sides of the offensive line,” 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggens says of Mauigoa. “Projects as an offensive tackle or a defensive tackle and where his body is at in a few years will likely determine what side of the ball he plays on. Was a more dominant player on defense where he showed a ton of raw power and physicality. He can dominate at the point of attack, has a very quick first step and can run down plays from behind. He might have more upside as an offensive tackle as heā€™s already 6-6 and young for his grade.”

[lawrence-related id=21082]

With the hiring of Adrien Klemm, who is thought to be one of the best offensive line recruiters in the nation, it has been great to see Oregon in the mix for these blue-chip linemen. Just this past weekend, 5-star OT Josh Conerly, the No. 1 unsigned player in the 2022 class, was down in Eugene for a visit, and has kept the Ducks firmly in the mix for his recruitment, which is expected to come this spring.

Now it appears that Oregon is in a good position for the 2023 offensive line recruiting class as well. We will keep an eye on Mauigoa going forward.

4-star DL Hunter Osborne sets sights on Oregon Ducks in ongoing recruitment

Hunter Osborne, a 4-star DL with 50 D1 offers, listed the Oregon Ducks as a prominent team in his latest recruiting cutdown.

[jwplayer tc32fvPQ]

One of the most coveted defensive linemen in the 2023 class has narrowed down his recruitment as we get further into the spring period.

Hunter Osborne, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive lineman from Trussville, Alabama, listed the Oregon Ducks in his top-10. The 4-star prospect who holds 50 D1 offers also included Alabama, LSU, Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Auburn, and USC.

Osborne is listed as the No. 13 DL in the 2023 class, and No. 113 player overall, according to 247Sports. As he gets closer to his senior season, we will watch Osborn continue his recruitment and hopefully make it out to Eugene for a visit with Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

Autzen Stadium projected as one of NCAA’s toughest environments to play in 2022 season

There’s a reason Dan Lanning wants recruits to come and see the Oregon Spring Game; when Autzen Stadium is rocking, there’s nothing quite like it.

There’s a reason that Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has been making such a push to get some of the top recruits in the nation to Eugene for the spring game in April. He wants them to see what the competitive environment can be like, and feel the energy of a gameday in Eugene.

Because when Autzen Stadium is rocking, there are few places in the college football world that can match it.

[lawrence-related id=20828]

That’s not just the opinion of a lifelong Duck and Oregon alumni, but one shared by 247Sports as well. They recently went through to ranks and projected the top 10 “most terrifying places to play” in 2022, and made sure to make mention of Eugene, saying in particular that when the Utah Utes come to town on November 19, there is going to be some vitriol in the stands as fans are searching for some vengeance.

It’s difficult toĀ simulate the rowdiest environment in the Pac-12. Opposing teams can pump in crowd noise all they want at practice, but Autzen Stadium is one of those venues you have to experience up close to really feel the sound traveling from over top of you down to the field level. Because of the stadium’s strange design, the volume seems to be turned up a notch and rarely escapes. You’re not going to find a bigger game out West this season than the Ducks’ matchup with defending league champ Utah at home on Nov. 19. That’s a potential College GameDay setting and Oregon’s fan base will be ready.

After losing to the Utes both in the regular season and Pac-12 championship game last season, the Ducks will certainly be looking to make amends for their past shortcomings. The fact that they get Utah at home this year will help, and the stakes are likely to be high, with both teams potentially in the running for another meeting in the Pac-12 title game.

Elite 5-star forward Mookie Cook has Oregon Ducks as a finalist ahead of commitment

The Ducks seem to be in a great position when it comes to the recruitment of 5-star Mookie Cook, a 6-foot-7 SF from Portland.

[jwplayer JXDRsNH3]

And then there were three.

When it comes to the recruitment of 5-star small forward Mookie Cook, a native from Portland, Ore., there are three schools that he is still taking a look at ahead of making his commitment likely later this year. Those teams are the Oregon Ducks, Gonzaga Bulldogs, and Kentucky Wildcats.

Cook stands at 6-foot-7, 200 pounds, and is listed as the No. 4 player in the nation, according to 247Sports. Also, according to 247Sports, Cook has a couple of Crystal Ball predictions that suggest he will land in Eugene with Dana Altman and the Ducks after his most recent recruiting visit to see the team.

As we continue in Cook’s recruitment, there seems to be a good chance that Oregon will be able to once again land one of the best players in the nation to their upcoming class.

Spring recruiting party: Updated list of prospects visiting Oregon Ducks this weekend

Some really big names are coming to Eugene for recruiting visits this weekend. Here’s an updated tracker of players expected on campus.

After the recruiting dead period was lifted following the month of February, the Oregon Ducks have hit the ground running when trying to attract some of the best prospects in the nation and sell them on what Dan Lanning and Co. are starting in Eugene.

Last weekend, we saw a handful of incredibly talented players flock to Eugene to take both official and unofficial visits to Oregon, and on this second weekend in March, the Ducks are taking it much a notch.

The list of confirmed visitors is still growing, but already we can confidently say that it is among the biggest recruiting weekends of the spring for the Ducks, who will play host to a number of high-profile players in the 2022 class, as well as the 2023 and 2024 classes as well. On top of that, there is even an all-Pac-12 pass-rusher coming to town fresh off of his transfer from the UCLA Bruins.

So who can we expect to see in Eugene this weekend? Here is an updated list:
