Ducks become favorites to land 4-star DL from Arizona, 3-star DL from Texas

The Ducks are now the leader in the clubhouse to land a pair of defensive lineman, one a 4-star from Arizona, and the other a 380-pound player from Texas.

It was another busy day for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting front. A pair of predictions came in for at least one blue-chip prospect and one massive, 380-pound player to commit to the Ducks this summer.

The first prediction came for four-star defensive lineman A’mauri Washington, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound player from Arizona. 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong gave a level 6 confidence prediction that Washington would end up at Oregon, which is the first crystal ball Washington has picked up.

Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 14 DL and No. 111 overall player in the 2023 class, Washington would be a big addition to Oregon’s defensive line.

The second prediction is for Samu Taumanupepe, a three-star defensive lineman out of Texas. The first thing that stands out about Taumanupepe is his incredible size. He stands at 6-foot-3, 380 pounds. Despite that, he appears remarkably agile.

Tuamanupepe will announce his commitment on July 31st.

Recruiting Wish List: 15 prospects Oregon would love to get a commitment from next

The Ducks added their two highest-rated players in the 2023 class last week. Here’s who we hope could be next.

The Oregon Ducks have been on a recruiting hot streak over the past couple of weeks, landing their highest-rated offensive prospect, five-star quarterback Dante Moore, and defensive prospect, four-star cornerback Caleb Presle, in the class since the start of July.

Dan Lanning and his staff aren’t finished, though. Given many highly rated prospects have visited Eugene over the past couple of months, there’s a good chance we may start to see some commitments flood into Oregon this month.

But who might we see make that decision to join the Ducks? Here are a few names Oregon would be more than thrilled to land:

Ducks soar into top-10 of ESPN recruiting rankings after adding 5-star QB Dante Moore

The Ducks added both 5-star QB Dante Moore and 4-star CB Caleb Presley last week, causing ESPN to bump them up drastically.

We knew when Dan Lanning was hired as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks that he would have a positive impact on recruiting, hoping that he would further the success that Mario Cristobal left behind in Eugene.

We didn’t quite know that he would be able to make such a big impact this early on, though.

After closing out the 2022 recruiting cycle on a high note with the addition of 5-star OT Josh Conerly and 4-star WR Kyler Kasper, the Ducks just made a splash in the 2023 cycle as well, adding 5-star QB Dante Moore last week, and 4-star CB Caleb Presley just a few days before that. With these additions, Oregon vaulted up the ESPN recruiting rankings. Here’s where they now stand:

4-star OL sets commitment date; Oregon listed as a finalist

4-star Micah Banuelos, one of the top offensive linemen in Washington, announced his commitment date.

The Oregon Ducks’ 2023 recruiting class could get some more strength in the coming weeks.

After adding 5-star quarterback Dante Moore at the end of last week, the Ducks have a number of prospects who will be announcing their commitments at some point this month. Among them is 4-star offensive lineman Micah Banuelos, who announced on Tuesday that he will be making his decision on July 25th at 3 p.m. PT.

Banuelos is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 56 IOL in the 2023 class. He currently has two Crystal Ball Predictions on 247Sports to commit to the Ducks.

We will see later this month if Oregon’s offensive line can pick up another core member.

Oregon becomes favorite to land 4-star DL out of Texas

The Oregon Ducks are the favorites to land 4-star DL Terrance Green after picking up two predictions over the weekend.

The Oregon Ducks added the marquee member of their 2023 recruiting class last week, landing five-star Dante Moore, the highest-ranked quarterback in school history.

Now we can expect more recruiting dominoes to fall as fellow players choose to join the movement that is going on in Eugene.

According to a couple of recent predictions, four-star defensive lineman Terrance Green is likely to choose the Ducks in the coming weeks. Over the weekend, Steve Wiltfong from 247Sports placed a crystal ball prediction for Green to commit to the Ducks, as did On3 Sports.

Rated by 247Sports as the No. 39 DL in Texas and No. 246 player in the 2023 class, Green would be a great addition to Oregon’s defensive front.

Breaking: 5-star DE Jayden Wayne chooses Mario Cristobal and Miami over the Ducks

Jayden Wayne chose Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes over the Oregon Ducks. That’s a recruiting loss that should sting a bit.

Mario Cristobal may be getting the last laugh on this one.

After recruiting 5-star DE Jayden Wayne — the former No. 1 ranked player from the state of Washington before he transferred to IMG Academy in Florida — heavily while at Oregon, Cristobal was able to bring Wayne down to Miami and get him to commit to the Hurricanes.

Wayne announced his commitment on Saturday, choosing Miami over the Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan State Spartans, and LSU Tigers.

This is the second local talent that Oregon has lost to Cristobal down in Miami, with 4-star TE Riley Williams — the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Oregon — committing to the Hurricanes last week.

Over the past several months, it seemed like Oregon was in pole position for Wayne, but things switched after he took an official visit to Eugene at the end of June. Now he is headed to Miami.

Oregon fans may love to tout how good of a recruiter Dan Lanning is, and while that’s still true, don’t let that make you forget how impressive Cristobal is when he sets his sights on an elite talent.

5-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba lists Ducks in newly-released top-7

5-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba listed the Oregon Ducks in his top-7 after taking a visit to Eugene last month.

The Oregon Ducks are in the running to land yet another 5-star player this summer, with Samuel M’Pemba, one of the top-ranked athletes in the 2023 class, announcing his top-7 on Friday.

M’Pemba, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 3 EDGE and No. 26 player overall in the 2023 class. He recently took an official visit to Eugene in the month of June, and seems to have enjoyed his time.

Currently, there is a prediction on On3 that M’Pemba will end up committing to the Georgia Bulldogs, but as his recruitment goes on this summer, we will see how teams position themselves. Could the Ducks sneak in there and get a look from the elite pass-rusher as a finalist? Time will tell.

Where Dante Moore ranks among the highest-ranked QB commits in Oregon Ducks history

The Ducks just landed 5-star QB Dante Moore. Where does he rank among the highest-rated QBs in Oregon history?

The Oregon Ducks just scored the biggest recruiting win of the Dan Lanning era, landing a commitment from 5-star quarterback Dante Moore, an elite player from the Detroit area.

Moore, who is ranked as the No. 4 quarterback and No. 8 overall player in the 2023 class, is in the conversation among the best players in his year, and he is currently the talk of the college football world after turning heads at the Elite 11 camp with an impressive performance.

With his commitment, the Ducks scored the marquee member of their 2023 class and picked up one of the highest-ranked players in program history. But where does Moore rank among the best quarterbacks to ever commit to the Ducks? We take a look:

BREAKING: 5-star QB Dante Moore announces commitment to Oregon Ducks

The biggest win yet in the Dan Lanning era at Oregon. 5-star QB Dante Moore is going to be a Duck.

The Oregon Ducks finally got their marquee guy in the 2023 recruiting class.

After things have been trending in this direction for the past couple of weeks, it was finally announced on Tuesday that 5-star quarterback Dante Moore was committing to the Ducks, offering up the biggest win yet for Dan Lanning, Kenny Dillingham, and the Oregon coaching staff.

Moore was the last high-ranking signal-caller to verbally commit after Avery Johnson committed to Kansas State earlier this week. Oregon’s newest 5-star went on ESPN2 this morning to announce that he is indeed a Duck.

Moore is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 4 quarterback in the 2023 class, and the No. 8 overall player. He has turned a lot of heads in the past few weeks, winning MVP honors at the Elite 11 QB camp, which hosts the nation’s top quarterback recruits for a talent showcase.

The Ducks picked up a slew of predictions to land Moore a few weeks ago after he decided to fly out to Eugene on his own dime for an official visit and join Oregon in a massive recruiting weekend that included fellow 5-star recruits like RB Richard Young, DE Matayo Uiagalelei, DE Jayden Wayne, and DE Samuel M’Pemba. There was some belief that it was that visit that sealed the deal for Moore, and it’s been a waiting game to see when he would commit ever since.

As it stands now, Moore is the highest-rated QB commit that the Ducks have ever had, and he is among the top-ranked recruits in school history as well.

Lanning and his staff may be new on the job, but they certainly didn’t waste any time getting down to business.

Breaking: 4-star CB Caleb Presley commits to Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks landed a commitment from 4-star cornerback Caleb Presley, the No. 1 ranked player from the state of Washington.

The Oregon Ducks added another massive piece to their 2023 recruiting class on Tuesday night, getting a verbal commitment from 4-star cornerback Caleb Presley, the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Washington.

Presley, who was high school teammates with 5-star Oregon OT Josh Conerly, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 9 CB and No. 78 overall player in the 2023 class. He trimmed his potential schools down to six, with the Ducks listed alongside Alabama, UCLA, Michigan State, Texas A&M, and Washington.

It’s not a shock, however, that Presley ended up picking the Ducks, as a slew of Crystal Ball Predictions have all come in over the past couple of weeks indicating that Oregon will be the landing spot for Presley.

With Presley’s addition to the secondary, the Ducks have done a magnificent job of bolstering their defensive backfield in this recruiting class, not to mention the 2022 class as well. Since Dan Lanning and his new coaching staff have taken over, here are the defensive backs that Oregon has added:

  • 4-star Caleb Presley
  • 4-star CB Cole Martin
  • 4-star S Kodi DeCambra
  • 4-star S Tyler Turner
  • 3-star CB Collin Gill
  • 4-star CB Jahlil Florence
  • 4-star CB Jalil Tucker
  • 4-star S Trejon Williams
  • 4-star CB Khamari Terrell

That is a loaded secondary that, with Coach Demetrice Martin coaching them up, could easily turn into one of the strengths of the team in the coming years.
