Where Oregon stands in 2023 recruiting rankings after big-time OL addition

The Ducks picked up two massive commitments on Monday. While only one counts towards the 2023 national rankings, let’s take a look at where Oregon stands.

Monday was a big day for the Oregon Ducks as far as recruiting goes, which make sense after the big weekend in Eugene highlighted by a statement win over the UCLA Bruins on Saturday.

On Monday afternoon, Dan Lanning and the Ducks received a commitment from four-star Iapani Laloulu, the No. 18 inside offensive lineman and No. 310 overall player in the class. A few hours before that, Oregon gained a commitment from four-star tight end AJ Pugliano, the No. 1 player in the state of Oregon and the No. 5 TE nationally in the 2024 class.

While only one of those additions counts toward the national recruiting rankings we are about to go over, it was still a banner day for the Ducks who are reaping the rewards of tough work and on-field success.

So where do the Ducks now stand in the 247Sports 2023 national rankings? Let’s take a look:

Oregon Ducks land commitment from 4-star IOL Iapani Laloulu

Double QUACK on a Monday. Oregon landed their second commitment of the day, this time from 4-star IOL Iapani Laloulu

Not too long after landing a commitment from 4-star TE A.J. Pugliano, the Oregon Ducks landed a second big commitment on Monday afternoon.

4-star IOL Iapani Laloulu announced that he will be joining Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class, further bolstering the offensive line that coach Adrian Klemm is putting together in Eugene. Laloulu is the youner brother of current Oregon player, Faaope Laloulu.

Iapani Laloulu, a 4-star IOL from Hawaii who is rated as the No. 18 IOL and No. 310 overall player in 2023. The Ducks currently have the No. 12 ranked recruiting class in the nation in 2023, but after the run that they’ve been on, it would not be a shock to see that start to go up in the near future.

Breaking: No. 1 ranked 2024 prospect in Oregon commits to the Ducks

Oregon’s top talent staying in the state of Oregon. 4-star TE A.J. Pugliano is committing to the Ducks.

The Oregon Ducks just landed a massive commitment, getting their 2024 recruiting class off to a hot start.

4-star tight end A.J. Pugliano, the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Oregon, announced his commitment to the Ducks on Monday morning. Over the weekend, it was projected by multiple sources that he would be committing to the Ducks, and he didn’t waste much time doing so.

As someone who grew up in Oregon, the Ducks have always been close to Pugliano’s heart, he told me earlier this year.

“I grew up a Duck fan my whole life prior to my recruitment and all of that. I would go to a couple of Duck games a year because both of my parents graduated from Oregon,” Pugliano told me back in February after his visit to Eugene. “From a fan perspective, they’ve been my number one for as long as I can remember.”

Pugliano is rated as the No. 5 tight end in the 2024 class, and the No. 91 overall player in the nation.

Ducks become heavy favorite to land 2024 4-star TE, top-ranked player in state of Oregon

Dan Lanning wants to keep the best talent in Oregon, in Oregon. It looks like he’s doing a good job of that.

One thing Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning stressed when he took over in Eugene was his team needed to do everything it could to recruit its backyard before anywhere else.

Lanning and his staff appear to be doing a good job of keeping the best talent in Oregon in Oregon. A pair of new predictions have come in for Oregon to land a commitment from four-star tight end A.J. Pugliano, the No. 1 player in the state’s 2024 class. Pugliano plays at North Medford High School and has frequented Oregon games for much of his life.

“I grew up a Duck fan my whole life prior to my recruitment and all of that. I would go to a couple of Duck games a year because both of my parents graduated from Oregon,” Pugliano told me in February after his visit to Eugene. “From a fan perspective, they’ve been my number one for as long as I can remember.”

Pugliano is rated as the No. 5 tight end in the 2024 class and the No. 91 overall player in the nation. He doesn’t have a long offer list just yet, but that is likely going to change as his recruitment goes on. However, it’s clear that the Ducks have an early lead to land him. Both 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman and Steve Wiltfong place crystal ball predictions for Pugliano to commit to the Ducks.

5-star Notre Dame commit to take official visit to Oregon for UCLA game

Big-time visit incoming for Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

A couple of weeks ago, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning said that he expected the visitor list of recruits would be pretty big for the top-10 showdown against the UCLA Bruins on Saturday.

While the list was long, it lacked the massive star power, outside of a few Oregon commits and blue-chip 2024 and 2025 prospects.

That changed on Thursday night, though. Now it has some star power.

According to a report from On3, 5-star ND commit Peyton Bowen will be heading to Eugene this weekend for an official visit. Bowen committed to the Fighting Irish on January 1 of this year and is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 safety in the 2023 class, and the No. 24 overall player in the nation.

It’s unclear whether he is considering a flip in his commitment, but the fact that the Ducks are even getting him on campus is certainly a big deal.

Recruiting Party: Updated list of prospects visiting for No. 9 Oregon vs. No. 10 UCLA game

Headlined by Jordon Davison, the No. 1 RB in the 2025 class, Oregon has an impressive list of recruits coming to Eugene this weekend.

Some of the biggest names in the college football media world — Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Reece Davis, Josh Pate — will be coming to Eugene over the weekend for the showdown between No. 9 Oregon and No. 10 UCLA, so it makes sense that some of the biggest-named recruits will be in attendance as well.

When meeting with media members last week ahead of the bye, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said that regardless of whether or not ESPN’s College GameDay came to Eugene — something we didn’t know for sure would happen at the time — the Ducks expected a big recruiting weekend, with a lot of visitors coming for the game.

That statement has turned out to be true, and as the week has gone on, the visitor list has grown.

So far, these are the players who we have confirmation from that will be here on Saturday. Make sure to check back in, because the list will undoubtedly grow throughout the week.

5-star Oregon QB Dante Moore puts on a show with Dan Lanning, Kenny Dillingham in attendance

5-star QB Dante Moore had some impressive throws on Friday with Lanning and Dillingham in attendance.

The Oregon Ducks don’t have a game to get ready for on Saturday afternoon, and the afternoon off gave the coaching staff a great opportunity to get out on the road and hit the recruiting trail.

One of the most important visits that was made on Friday night was by head coach Dan Lanning and offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham, who flew over to Detroit, Michigan to get in contact with 5-star QB commit Dante Moore, the highest-rated verbal commit that Oregon has ever got from a quarterback.

Moore is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 overall player in the 2023 class, and he stands as the cornerstone of Oregon’s incoming class. Of course, paying him a visit is a good idea.

So with Lanning and Dillingham looking on, Moore flexed his muscles a bit and put on a show. Check out the highlights and best social media reactions from the night in Detroit:

Oregon Ducks get verbal commitment from 3-star OL Lipe Moala

The Oregon Ducks picked up a commitment on the offensive line Friday night, getting a verbal pledge from offensive lineman Lipe Moala, who plays at Mater Dei in California.

Moala stands at 6-foot-6, 330 pounds, and is rated as the No. 83 IOL in the 2023 class. He may not have been among the biggest names on Oregon fans’ radar, but he’s a big-bodied player who OL coach Adrian Klemm obviously liked and wanted to bring into the fold.

The Ducks extended an offer to Moala on October 1st, and he turned around and committed a couple of weeks later.

Dana Altman extends offer to 4-star center Jayden Quanintance in class of 2025

Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks extended an offer to 2025 4-star center Jayden Quanintance, becoming the third Pac-12 school to do so.

Dana Altman has had an incredibly busy summer. In addition to prepping for what should be an exciting 2022-23 season, Altman built one of the best recruiting classes in school history for 2023.

Mookie Cook, KJ Evans, and Jackson Shelstad is an elite class, and the staff has continued to keep tabs on Bronny James and Andrej Stojakovic as well.

Additionally, Altman has continued looking for talent in the 2024 and 2025 classes, reportedly making an offer to 2025 4-star center prospect Jayden Quanintance out of Hillcrest Prep High School.

Quanintance is just a sophomore, but his 6’9 frame and athleticism have him already ranked among the top 30 players in his class, per 247Sports.

Altman is the fifth head coach to officially offer Quanintance, although he will almost certainly pick up many, many more in the next year depending how he performs at Hillcrest and over the summer circuit.

Regardless, it never hurts to get your name in on someone early. Here is more about Quanintance and his recruitment up to this point.
