Ducks flip 4-star DL Tionne Gray from Missouri to Oregon

Recruiting flip for Dan Lanning and Co. 4-star DL Tionne Gray decided to commit to the Ducks over Missouri after his visit to Eugene.

The recruiting buzz is continuing for the Oregon Ducks in Eugene.

After a big weekend of visitors, things are starting to pay off for Dan Lanning and the Ducks, this time flipping 4-star defensive lineman Tionne Gray from the Missouri Tigers and getting a verbal commitment from him on Thursday.

Gray was in Eugene over the weekend and was reportedly blown away by the visit. He announced on Thursday that he would be de-committing from Missouri and instead joining the Ducks.

Gray is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 34 DL in the 2024 class, and No. 327 overall player.

Gray is now the 8th member of Oregon’s 2024 class, which is ranked inside the top 10 nationally.

Oregon QB target Luke Moga announces commitment date

Luke Moga, an Oregon QB target in the 2024 class, will announce his commitment later this month.

The Oregon Ducks could be finding out about one of their major recruiting targets in the coming weeks.

3-star quarterback Luke Moga, one of the top QB targets for Oregon in the 2024 class, announced that he would be making his commitment official on April 28th. Moga, who is rated as the No. 33 QB in the 2024 class, has the Ducks among his top schools, and will be taking another visit to Eugene in the coming weeks.

Though Moga is not considered highly rated, the Ducks have been keen on his abilities and high on his potential to grow as a passer. He has quickly started to rise up a lot of recruiting boards, and could very well see his recruiting ranking improve over the coming months.

Oregon Ducks make the cut for top-5 cornerback in 2024 class

The Ducks landed among the top schools for 4-star Aaron Scott, the No. 4 CB in the 2024 class.

The Oregon Ducks are working hard on the recruiting trail, and putting themselves in a great position to land some top-end talent down the road.

The latest highly-rated player to have eyes for Oregon is 4-star cornerback Aaron Scott, a blue-chip player from Ohio who recently included the Ducks in his top-12 cutdown.

Scott is rated by 247Sports as the No. 36 player in the 2024 class, and No. 4 cornerback overall. He currently is predicted to end up landing with his home state Ohio State Buckeyes, but after receiving an offer from the Ducks a couple of months ago, it is likely we see him at least take a visit to Eugene to check out what Dan Lanning and his staff have cooking.

4-star QB Michael Van Buren sets announcement date, will visit Oregon next week

4-star QB Michael Van Buren, a primary target for the Ducks, has reportedly set his commitment date. Van Buren will visit Eugene next weekend.

We now have a timeline for when one of the major recruiting pieces will be coming off of the board for the Oregon Ducks.

4-star quarterback Michael Van Buren, one of the primary targets for Dan Lanning and Co. during the 2024 class, will reportedly announce his college commitment on July 8 this summer, per 247Sports’ Brian Dohn. It is a long way out, but a notable date to put on the calendar, because it potentially could impact Oregon’s 2024 class in a significant way.

Van Buren is rated by 247Sports as the No. 128 overall player in the 2024 class, and the No. 11 QB. He has visited Oregon before, and will reportedly be in Eugene for another visit this coming weekend to take in Ducks practices and see the facilities once again while meeting with coaches.

In the world of recruiting, getting your quarterback committed early is often important, because it can help build out the rest of the class. Last year, 5-star QB Dante Moore announced his commitment to the Ducks on July 8, the same day that Van Buren plans to announce his commitment.

There are no current 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Van Buren, but Penn State is the leader to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Twitter Reaction: Ducks leave recruits buzzing after successful weekend of visits at Oregon

Once again, recruits raced to Twitter to rave about their weekend visits to Oregon after checking out the Ducks.

It was another successful weekend of recruiting visits for the Oregon Ducks, and many of the high school recruits who were on campus over the past few days have left Eugene raving about what Dan Lanning and his staff have cooking up in the Pacific Northwest.

With spring practice back in session, and the 2023 Coaches Clinic taking place at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex, it was an incredibly busy weekend for the Ducks. Throughout the week and into Saturday, a number of highly-ranked recruits flocked to campus to check out the practices and get a feel for how Oregon works in the offseason.

The recruits also got to tour the Oregon facilities and go through the highly-popular photoshoot process, donning the Duck colors and seeing all that Nike has to offer.

Here are some of the best reactions from recruits in town over the weekend.

Where Oregon Ducks stand among biggest spenders in football recruiting world

College football recruiting has turned into an arms race. So where does Oregon rank amongst the biggest spenders in the nation?

The world of recruiting in college football has become an arms race over the last decade. No longer do the teams with the best coaching staff and the best track record of development get all of the best players to come to their program, but instead, it’s usually the schools with the nicest facilities and the most grandiose sales pitch that is king.

Now in the world of NIL, it often becomes he who can write the biggest number on a check that is king, as well.

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes in the world of recruiting that fans often never think of. We see the pictures of the visits and the uniform try-ons for young players considering a school. However, your average fan probably rarely considers all of the logistics and legwork that has to go into making a weekend visit a success. You have transportation, lodging, meals, and personnel all in this mix, with many other things incorporated as well.

Recently, USA Today released a list of the top spenders in college football. Unsurprisingly, some of the names you would expect are near the top of the list. However, recruiting expenses didn’t always translate directly to recruiting success in the 2023 class for some schools, while others lower on the list saw a great bang for their buck in the recruiting world.

Where do the Oregon Ducks rank as far as recruiting expenses went in 2022, though? Take a look:

5-star 2025 RB Jordon Davison schedules visit to Oregon

5-star RB Jordon Davison, the No. 11 player in the 2025 class, will be in Eugene for a visit next week.

The commitments are coming, and the recruiting visits continue to stack up for the Oregon Ducks.

On Friday afternoon, Dan Lanning and Co. landed a big commitment from 4-star safety Aaron Flowers, the No. 109 player in the 2024 class, helping to bolster their newest signing class and stack talent in the defensive secondary.

Not long before that commitment, the Ducks also got the great news that Jordon Davison, a 5-star RB in the class of 2025, will be taking a visit to Oregon next week.

Davison is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 11 overall player in 2025, and the No. 2 RB in the nation. The highly-rated RB was in Eugene last year for the Ducks’ game against the UCLA Bruins.

Where Oregon’s 2024 class ranks nationally after latest commitment

With the addition of 4-star Aaron Flowers, the Ducks took a big jump in the 2024 recruiting rankings.

Early in the year, the Oregon Ducks had a top-10 class nationally after landing a flurry of four-star players, including a pair of top-100 wide receivers in Tyseer Denmark and Jordan Anderson, as well as a top-150 player in OT Fox Crader.

Over the last couple of months, that top-10 national ranking started to slip a little bit as the Ducks got passed by other teams picking up commitments. While Oregon was experiencing positive momentum as far as making recruiting cutdowns and scheduling visits, the commitments were infrequent.

That changed on Friday afternoon, with 4-star safety Aaron Flowers announcing his commitment to the Ducks. Flowers is rated by 247Sports as the No. 109 player in the 2024 class, and the No. 9 safety. He is the sixth player to join the Ducks’ 2024 class, all of whom are rated as 4-stars.

So where did his addition bump Oregon to in the national recruiting rankings? Let’s take a look:

Ducks land commitment from 4-star S Aaron Flowers

Big-time commitment for the Ducks. Oregon lands 4-star S Aaron Flowers, the No. 109 player in the 2024 class.

There has been a lot of positive recruiting buzz for the Oregon Ducks over the past several weeks, but not many commitments to show for it. That changed on Friday afternoon, with Dan Lanning and Co. picking up one of the top defensive backs in the 2024 class.

4-star safety Aaron Flowers announced on Friday that he would join the Ducks, picking Oregon over the USC Trojans.

Flowers is rated by 247Sports as the No. 109 player in the 2024 class, and the No. 9 safety. He took a visit to Oregon earlier in March, and left Eugene with glowing reviews.

Flowers is now the sixth player in the 2024 class for the Ducks, all of whom are rated as 4-stars. He is the first defensive back in the class, but joins an impressive group recruited by defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin and new safeties coach Chris Hampton that includes Daylen Austin, Roderick Pleasant, Jahlil Florence, Jalil Tucker, and many others.
