USC transfer Gary Bryant Jr. locks in commitment date; Ducks favored to land WR

USC transfer Gary Bryant Jr. locks in commitment date with the Ducks still favored to land him currently.

The Oregon Ducks seem to be well-positioned to land one of the top available players in the transfer portal, and they now know when the final announcement will come.

On Tuesday, it was reported by 247Sports’ Greg Biggins that former USC Trojans wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. would announce his commitment on May 13.

Bryant took a visit to Eugene at the end of March, and the Ducks are currently favored to land him according to 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions.

Bryant is also considering Arizona, Texas A&M, Miami, and UCLA.

Ducks extend offer to North Texas tight end Var’Keyes Gumms

The Ducks have reportedly offered former North Texas TE Var’Keyes Gumms, a 6-foot-6 player who had 5 TD as a freshman in 2022.

The Oregon Ducks are looking to fill out their tight end room in the wake of the injury to Terrance Ferguson that will keep him out for the remainder of spring camp.

On Monday, the Ducks reportedly extended an offer to North Texas tight end Var’Keyes Gumms, one of the top tight ends available in the transfer portal. In one season with North Texas, Gumms played in 14 games, catching 34 passes for over 450 yards and 5 TD.

Since entering the portal on Saturday, Gumms has received scholarship offers from a number of schools, including Oregon, Utah, Colorado, West Virginia, and others.

We will see if the Ducks can get him on campus for a visit and bring him into the fold, but landing a player like Gumms would be a big help for an Oregon team that needs depth at the TE spot.

Ducks land in top-5 for WR Gatlin Bair, No. 1 rated player in Idaho

The Ducks landed the No. 1 player in Idaho during the 2023 cycle. They’re trying to do it again in 2024.

The Oregon Ducks landed the top-ranked player from Idaho during the 2023 class with ATH Kenyon Sadiq, one of the 100 best players in the nation.

It appears that they are going back to the well, and recent news shows that they are in a good spot to get Idaho’s best once again in the 2024 class.

On Sunday night, 4-star WR Gatlin Bair revealed his top five schools, keeping the Ducks in the mix along with a handful of others. Bair is rated as the No. 1 played in Idaho, as well as the No. 40 overall player in the nation, and the No. 9 WR in the 2024 class.

Bair took a visit to Eugene earlier this year, and will likely find his way out to Oregon again this summer before making his ultimate decision.

Ducks extend offer to Wyoming transfer OL Emmanuel Pregnon

The Ducks are one of over a dozen teams to extend an offer to former Wyoming OL Emmanuel Pregnon, who entered the portal on Saturday.

The offensive line is not a major position of need for the Oregon Ducks this off-season. After four starters from the 2022 season graduated, Dan Lanning and the team brought in both Ajani Cornelius and Junior Angilau from the transfer portal, and they boast an incredibly talented group of players at that position.

However, that did not stop the team from offering a scholarship to former Wyoming Cowboys OL Emmanuel Pregnon, who recently entered the transfer portal.

The 6-6, 318-pound redshirt sophomore entered his name into the portal on Saturday and quickly received numerous offers, including from UCLA, Arizona, Purdue, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and Oregon.

After redshirting as a freshman in 2021, Pregnon took over as the starting right guard for the Cowboys in 2022. He graded out as the No. 3 guard in the Mountain West according to Pro Football Focus and earned Freshman All-American status.

Former Georgia DL Bear Alexander could be transfer target for Ducks

Former Georgia DL Bear Alexander — who had a pair of sacks in the national championship game this year — is in the transfer portal.

Whenever a defensive player for the Georgia Bulldogs enters the transfer portal, ears start to perk up in Eugene, Oregon.

So on Saturday, when freshman DL Bear Alexander, a former high-end 4-star recruit announced that he was looking for a new team, some ideas started to formulate in Eugene.

Of course, the Ducks don’t necessarily have a need on the defensive line, but head coach Dan Lanning has long said that if they see a player in the portal who they think can make them better, then they are going to do what they can to try and get him.

Alexander fits that billing. Although he played in just 8 games as a true freshman, Bear broke out in the national championship game, notching two sacks against the TCU Horned Frogs in Georgia’s blowout victory.

We will see over the coming days and weeks if the Ducks end up reaching out to Alexander and trying to get him to Eugene, but this is certainly a name to be aware of.

Ducks pick up prediction to land commitment from USC WR Gary Bryant Jr.

The Ducks are now favored to land USC transfer Gary Bryant Jr. out of the transfer portal.

It looks like some veteran playmaking could be on the way for the Oregon Ducks’ wide receiver room in the coming weeks or months.

After entering the transfer portal and making a round of visits, former USC Trojans WR Gary Bryant is set to make a decision about where he will transfer in the coming weeks or months. On Saturday afternoon, 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins put in a prediction for Bryant to end up in Eugene.

The Ducks have a handful of talented and experienced WRs, led by Troy Franklin, but outside of the top four guys — Franklin, Kris Hutson, Traeshon Holden, Tez Johnson — there isn’t a ton of depth at the position.

Adding Bryant to the mix could be big for Oregon, as he could provide instant production to the offense. We will see in the coming weeks when he decides to announce his final decision.

Ducks now projected to land pair of top-100 players, rising QB in 2024 class

The Ducks seem to be as hot as any team on the recruiting trail at the moment.

If you hadn’t been paying attention over the past couple of weeks, it’s now become incredibly clear that the Oregon Ducks are among the nation’s hottest teams in the recruiting world right now.

The last seven days saw them pick up commitments from 4-star CB Aaron Flowers and 4-star DL Tionne Gray, as well as an in-state commitment from 3-star OL Trent Ferguson, moving them to well inside the top 10 rankings nationally. On top of that, a flurry of recruiting predictions has started to come in over the past couple of days, predicting that more high-end 4-star talent is on the way.

On Thursday, 247Sports Recruiting Director Steve Wiltfong put in a prediction that Oregon would be the landing spot for 4-star WR Dillon Gresham.

On Friday, Wiltfong and fellow 247Sports colleague Greg Biggins logged multiple predictions for the Ducks. Here’s more info on the players that Oregon is projected to land, and where that would leave them in the national rankings should it all come to fruition.

Oregon lands among top schools for No. 1 RB in 2025 class

Oregon’s momentum in the 2024 class is seeping into the 2025 class, it appears.

The Oregon Ducks are among the hottest teams in the 2024 recruiting cycle right now, and it appears that some of that momentum is carrying over to the 2025 class as well.

On Friday, 4-star RB Gideon Davidson, the No. 1 ranked running back in the class of 2025, announced his top 10 schools, keeping the Ducks in the mix with the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and others.

While it’s still early in Davidson’s recruiting process and he has dozens of visits to go on before now and when he ultimately signs with a school, Oregon is in a good spot early on, to say the least.

Davidson is rated as the No. 19 overall player in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports. It’s fair to assume that as he continues to put highlights on tape, he will eventually rise to a 5-star recruit.

Ducks pick up prediction to land commitment from 4-star WR Dillon Gresham

The Ducks picked up a new projection to land a 4-star WR out of California this week.

It’s starting to look like the Oregon Ducks are among the hottest teams out west when it comes to recruiting at the moment.

Over the last week, Dan Lanning and Co. Have landed three new commitments, vaulting them to well inside the top 10 of the national recruiting rankings.

They aren’t done yet, either.

On Thursday afternoon, 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for Oregon to land 4-star WR Dillon Gresham, a rising prospect from California.

Gresham is rated as the No. 61 WR and No. 414 player in the 2024 class.

The Ducks already have a loaded WR room in the 2024 class, with 4-star Jordan Anderson and 4-star Tyseer Denmark already committed, both of whom are among the best WRs in the class.

Gresham has yet to take a visit to Eugene, but we will see if the Ducks can land a verbal commitment from him soon.

Ducks again make big jump in recruiting rankings after flurry of commitments

With the flip of 4-star Tionne Gray, the Ducks once again made a big jump up the national rankings in the recruiting world.

It was only a few days ago that we dove into the updated 247Sports recruiting rankings to take a look at where the Oregon Ducks stood.

The Ducks had just gotten a commitment from 4-star safety Aaron Flowers, the No. 109 player in the 2024 class and one of the higher-rated players to join the team this cycle.

Since then, though, there has been some additional movement.

On Wednesday, the Ducks added 3-star OT Trent Ferguson, a 6-foot-7 OL who is unproven with a lot of upside. That led us to Thursday, where Oregon was able to flip 4-star DL Tionne Gray from his commitment to the Missouri Tigers and land him with the Ducks instead.

Of course, these two additions caused the Ducks to move up again in the rankings. Here’s a look at where they now sit nationally.
