USC transfer Gary Bryant Jr. locks in commitment date; Ducks favored to land WR

USC transfer Gary Bryant Jr. locks in commitment date with the Ducks still favored to land him currently.

The Oregon Ducks seem to be well-positioned to land one of the top available players in the transfer portal, and they now know when the final announcement will come.

On Tuesday, it was reported by 247Sports’ Greg Biggins that former USC Trojans wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. would announce his commitment on May 13.

Bryant took a visit to Eugene at the end of March, and the Ducks are currently favored to land him according to 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions.

Bryant is also considering Arizona, Texas A&M, Miami, and UCLA.

Ducks pick up prediction to land commitment from USC WR Gary Bryant Jr.

The Ducks are now favored to land USC transfer Gary Bryant Jr. out of the transfer portal.

It looks like some veteran playmaking could be on the way for the Oregon Ducks’ wide receiver room in the coming weeks or months.

After entering the transfer portal and making a round of visits, former USC Trojans WR Gary Bryant is set to make a decision about where he will transfer in the coming weeks or months. On Saturday afternoon, 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins put in a prediction for Bryant to end up in Eugene.

The Ducks have a handful of talented and experienced WRs, led by Troy Franklin, but outside of the top four guys — Franklin, Kris Hutson, Traeshon Holden, Tez Johnson — there isn’t a ton of depth at the position.

Adding Bryant to the mix could be big for Oregon, as he could provide instant production to the offense. We will see in the coming weeks when he decides to announce his final decision.

A dozen WR options in the transfer portal for the Oregon Ducks to look at

There are a few interesting names in the transfer portal if Oregon wants to try and find another veteran WR to add to the roster.

The Oregon Ducks will likely be looking to make another splash signing in the transfer portal over the coming couple of months, this time to try and fill a hole on the roster left by the dismissal of wide receiver Traeshon Holden.

With the WR depth chart being topped by Troy Franklin and Kris Hutson, Oregon has a handful of young receivers who may be able to play their way onto the field this spring and secure a share of the target load. However, I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see Dan Lanning and his staff go back into the transfer portal to look and see if they can add another veteran pass-catcher that could be an instant contributor on the field.

We went into the portal on Wednedsay to look at who is still available, and were quite pleased with the results. Of course, the transfer portal is currently closed to new entries until May 1, but players who are currently in the portal are able to commit to new schools. It’s also likely that we see a handful of players choose to enter during that window after spring football, but for now, these are some of the names that could be intriguing for the Ducks going forward:
