The Oklahoma Sooners will meet the Iowa State Cyclones in the Big 12 Championship game on Saturday afternoon from AT&T Stadium.

Oklahoma comes into this matchup on a six-game winning streak and is 3-0 on the road this season. Spencer Rattlers has thrown 24 touchdowns on 2,512 yards passing, he’ll be facing one of the toughest defenses in college football today.

Iowa State is on a five-game winning streak and looking to end their season with six wins when they take the field today. Brock Purdy has thrown for 2,272 yards and 17 touchdowns. Iowa State’s defense is out of this world good and a fantastic matchup against Oklahoma.

This game will put Iowa State on the map, here’s everything you need to know to stream the Big 12 Championship game this afternoon.

Prediction: While this may not be the popular pick I’m sticking with it, taking Iowa State with the points. We know Oklahoma can score at ease but today I think Spencer Rattler is tested and he’ll definitely make some mistakes with this Iowa State defense. They might be the best in college football.

How Texas could find its way into the Big 12 title game

If either OU or ISU is not able to participate in the Big 12 championship, UT would replace them. UT finished in third place ahead of OSU.

Texas’ season might not be over just quite yet. Yes, there is still a bowl game to be played before the New Year but the Longhorns could be suiting up at AT&T Stadium on Dec. 19.

Per Ralph D. Russo of the AP, if either Oklahoma or Iowa State are not able to participate in the Big 12 championship on Saturday, a replacement team would take their spot. The current standings and tiebreaks would be the determinants.

Texas (6-3) and Oklahoma State (7-3) are currently tied for third in the Big 12, despite the Cowboys having one more win. Being tied in the loss column is more important in this scenario, putting Texas ahead due to the head to head win on Oct. 31.

Of course, this would require Oklahoma or Iowa State to be dealing with COVID-19 complications while not being able to fulfill Big 12 position guidelines.

Even then Texas may not be able to participate. Football operations are still shut down because of positive coronavirus tests. In the latest report, there were at least 23 players and a few staff members who had tested positive or would have been held out due to contact tracing.

Rematches against Iowa State and Oklahoma would be revenge games for Texas. Both teams beat the Longhorns by a combined 11 points, with the Red River Shootout going to a fourth overtime.

It is unlikely that this scenario plays out. Both Big 12 championship participants will have had two weeks to make sure they are fully healthy.

Oklahoma will be aiming for its sixth consecutive conference title, four of which have come under fourth-year head coach Lincoln Riley. Iowa State is in search of its first conference title since 1912. They have never participated in a Big 12 championship.

Three things we learned from Oklahoma’s loss to Iowa State

OU is now 0-2 in the Big 12, something that has only happened twice since 1996. Here are three things we learned from the loss to Iowa State.

Texas was not the only Big 12 powerhouse to fall on Saturday as Oklahoma fell on the road to Iowa State for the first time since 1960. The Sooners are now 0-2 in the Big 12, something that has only happened twice since the conference’s founding in 1996.

With Lincoln Riley in his fourth season, Oklahoma have lost two games in all of them. The difference? The Sooners won the Big 12 championship and made the College Football Playoff in the previous three seasons. This is unchartered territory for the young head coach.

A young team with a bright future, Oklahoma will be searching for answers before traveling south to Dallas. A win that could save their season, the former Big 12 killers will be looking to make adjustments before the Red River Shootout.

Here are three things we learned from Oklahoma’s loss to Iowa State.
