Jason Kersey of The Athletic reported on Saturday that defensive end Ronnie Perkins would be unsuspended before Saturday’s Red River Shootout. However, Lincoln Riley stated on Monday Perkins’ status is “unchanged before the game.

Oklahoma’s pass rush desperately needs the defensive end to return before the Texas game. Through three games, the Sooners’ have recorded six sacks, four of which came against Missouri State. The other two were split between the Kansas State and Iowa State matchups.

According to PFF, Oklahoma’s defense has accumulated 47 quarterback pressures this season. Perkins has 49 himself over the past two seasons. The Sooners’ pass rush has struggled mightily and Perkins would resurrect it before Texas.
