DT Cam Heyward blasts Urban Meyer for Ohio State alumni disrespect

Cam Heyward criticizes Urban Meyer for dismissing alumni like Mike Vrabel and praises Ryan Day for restoring Ohio State’s connections.

It is safe to say Pittsburgh Steelers DT Cam Heyward may share something in common with much of the Jacksonville Jaguars fanbase: their dislike of former HC Urban Meyer.

On the defensive tackle’s podcast, Not Just Football with Cam Heyward, the veteran Steeler was asked his opinion on the recent comments fellow Ohio State alumnus Mike Vrabel made about Meyer. Vrabel had worked with Meyer, who was the head coach of Ohio State from 2012 to 2018 and defensive line coach from 2012 to 2013, but when the two met in the NFL, Meyer pretended he didn’t know who he was.

Heyward didn’t hold back with his comments: “I got a lot of respect for Vrabes, so to hear someone like Urban Meyer, who won a championship with that guy, kind of spit in his face with that comment, I’m not for that. There’s a reason why when I left there, there was a drop-off in communication with alumni.”

Heyward continued to air his frustrations with Meyer but credited current Ohio State HC Ryan Day with repairing the damage Meyer had done.

Tale of the Tape: Notre Dame offense vs. Army defense

The Irish have their work cut out for them on this side of the ball.

A common criticism by Notre Dame fans this season is that their team’s offense isn’t up to snuff with the best in college football. While the numbers don’t necessarily support that theory, at least when it comes to running and scoring, Irish fans have pushed it all the same.

Fans particularly have criticized [autotag]Riley Leonard[/autotag] for acting more like a running back than the gun-slinging quarterback they so desire. Never mind that Leonard has played very well lately.

If the Irish are to be exposed as a run-first offense, Army might be the opponent to do just that. The Knights are highly ranked in most defensive categories and even tied with Ohio State with the fewest points surrendered in the country.

Granted, the Knights haven’t played a ranked opponent all season, and the Irish will break that streak. Still, it’s something the Irish will need to keep an eye on as they prepare for this game.

Here’s how the Irish’s offense compares to the Knights’ defense nationally:

Ohio State men’s soccer down Michigan to win Big Ten Tournament

Ohio State men’s soccer took down the Michigan Wolverines to win the Big Ten Tournament Sunday.

Ohio State football has been the talk of the town, as it typically is, but the Ohio State men’s soccer team has been quietly just as dominant throughout the last few months.

The Buckeyes faced the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday in the Big Ten Tournament, and they came out victorious, downing their opponent 1-0.

With the win, the Buckeyes are the 2024 Big Ten Tournament Champions. This was expected as Ohio State entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and beat the No. 4-seeded Washington Huskies on November 10.

Michigan was the No. 7 seed and had an impressive run, beating the No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers and then No. 6 UCLA Bruins before failing short to the Buckeyes.

Ohio State also earned a first-round bye and the No. 1 seed in the 2024 Division I men’s soccer tournament and will face the winner of Western Michigan vs. SIUE, which will take place on November 21.

Unlike in college hoops, the Buckeyes are the lone No. 1 seed in the tournament. Ohio State ended the season with a 14-1-3 record, and it was 7-1-2 in conference play. The Buckeyes finished the year 5-1 on the road.

Texas A&M vs Ohio State predictions, picks, odds

Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Friday, 11/15

This game could go either way and it will come down to who will hit their free throws. I see this as an extremely physical game that’s going to put both teams on the line a lot through four quarters. I believe Wade Taylor will have a monster game allowing them to pull away late and maintain a single digit lead to close out the contest.

Prediction: Texas A&M 75 – Ohio State 71

Odds: Texas A&M by 5.5

O/U: 147.5

Pat McAfee hypes up Ohio State QB Will Howard on ESPN’s College Gameday

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been led by Will Howard, and so far this season, Pat McAfee likes what he sees from the quarterback.

The Ohio State Buckeyes saw Kyle McCord start last season, and after Marvin Harrison Jr. left for the NFL and McCord transferred to Syracuse, the Buckeyes were left looking for options.

That’s where you insert Will Howard, a Kansas State transfer who spent four years with the Wildcats.

Howard ended last season with 24 touchdowns and 2,643 passing yards. He was impressive, and he’s mimicked those performances with the Buckeyes in his first and final season in Columbus.

While Howard did have a questionable decision against Oregon, he has, for most of the season, played at a high level and has a Big Ten-high 19 touchdowns (technically tied with Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel).

On ESPN’s College Gameday, Pat McAfee praised Howard, also commenting on his ability to hurt defenses on the ground. Overall, McAfee seemed to think Howard has what it takes to have the Buckeyes in National Championship contention.

McAfee has had some hot takes throughout the years, but this one is correct. Howard is a proven veteran quarterback that plays clean football and doesn’t turn the ball over often.

That’s what you need when playing against competent opponents that also make few critical mistakes He should be able to keep this Ohio State football team playing at an elite level throughout the remainder of the season.
