WATCH: Ohio State head coach Ryan Day discusses Toledo win

Watch and listen to everything Ryan Day said after the Toledo win. #GoBucks

You have to take the opponent into account, but the Ohio State football team sure looks like a team that is starting to figure things out. After a slower-than-expected start to the 2022 season on the offensive side of the ball, the Buckeyes broke out in a big way with 77 points and more than 750 yards of offense.

While the defense didn’t look like a dominant force like we thought through the first couple of weeks, there were still plenty of flashes of brilliance on that side of the ball as well.

Buckeye headman Ryan Day met with the media after the contest as he does after every game and took some time to discuss what he saw and field questions from the media.

We have the full video for you in case you missed any of what was said thanks to our very own Josh Keatley and the Buckeyes Wire YouTube channel. Play the below video and listen to Day discuss the performance of the offense, some injury news, the challenge of keeping the Toledo quarterback in check and much more.

Ohio State will now turn its focus to a big step up in competition as Wisconsin will come to town next Saturday for another nighttime affair. It’s time to get things cranked up in the Big Ten.

Five things we think we learned from Ohio State football’s win over Toledo

Here are five main things we think we learned from Ohio State’s blowout win over the Toledo Rockets. #GoBucks

Well, that was fun. After hearing criticism from the national media about its offense, Ohio State put up a bushel of points, yards, and highlights in a 77-21 beatdown of instate, MAC opponent Toledo.

With so many big plays, there’s a lot to take from this game, and that’s exactly what we’re here for, to give you the analysis you didn’t even know you needed. In fact, after every Ohio State football game, we take what we saw on the field of play and try to pull out five things that we think we learned from the action.

So yeah, here we are doing the same thing for the people with inquiring minds. Here are five things we think we learned from Ohio State’s impressive showing against the Toledo Rockets on Saturday night.

Toledo vs. Ohio State three and out halftime review

The Ohio State Buckeyes are currently leading the Toledo Rockets, 42-14, and the offense is hitting on all cylinders. OSU was favored by more than four touchdowns so this kind of domination isn’t that surprising, but the Buckeyes are on track to beat the spread for the first time this season.

There isn’t a whole lot to dislike other than the defense allowing a few big plays from the slippery scrambler at quarterback, Dequan Finn, but that was to be expected with that type of gunslinger. Most of the positives come from the offensive side of the ball, which shouldn’t be surprising with that many points on the board. Let’s dive into three glaring things we noticed from the first half.

Watch: social media reacts to jaw-dropping Marvin Harrison Jr. catch

Watch: social media reacts to jaw-dropping Marvin Harrison Jr. catch #GoBucks

We are only halfway through the first quarter and Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr is picking up right where he left off from his game-breaking performance last week against the Arkansas State Red Wolves. At this point, still in the first quarter, Harrison has already snagged three receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown.

His longest catch of the night so far is for 17 yards, but his most jaw-dropping so far came with 7:52 left in the first quarter for eight yards and gave the Ohio State Buckeyes a 14-7 lead over the Toledo Rockets. Everyone in the stadium went insane watching the catch and it looks like everyone on Twitter did too.

Ohio State football issues availability report for Toledo game

Ohio State football issues availability report for Toledo game #GoBucks

The fine folks with the Ohio State football team have issued the availability report for the game against Toledo, and there are a few notable names that will not be taking part in game No. 3.

With the game under Arkansas State under its belt, Ohio State has a few guys that were bumped and bruised against the Rockets, but most of the names on the list just transitioned over from the previous week. The most notable name on this list is star wide receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is listed as a game-time decision.

All of the reports from this week were that we would see Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Julian Fleming back in action, which would completely change this offense, which has looked less than dynamic lately.
