Five reasons Ohio State beats Nebraska Saturday

Five reasons the Ohio State #Buckeyes beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday.

The Ohio State Buckeyes now sit at 7-1 and undefeated in the Big Ten after slipping by the Penn State Nittany Lions last week, 33-24. Now a section of the online community is poo-pooing on this win as Penn State lost to a suspect Illinois Fighting Illini team in nine overtimes, but we all know that the Nittany Lions are the most talented team on Ohio State’s 2021 schedule from a pure talent perspective.

The Buckeyes are heading to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers next, who are having a disappointing season currently sitting at 3-6 overall, and just 1-5 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers are coming off a disappointing loss to the Purdue Boilermakers and are underdogs to Ohio State by over two touchdowns.

It’s time to explore five reasons why it might get ugly for Nebraska.

Five reasons Nebraska could be a problem for Ohio State Saturday

Nebraska might be 3-6, but there are some reasons that the Cornhuskers could cause problems for Ohio State Saturday. Here are five. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team travels to Nebraska to take on a Cornhuskers team that has been snakebitten this season. Despite a 3-6 record, Scott Frost’s squad has been in every single game. In fact, every loss this year for the ‘Huskers has been eight points or less, and it’s been even better in Lincoln. They’ve only lost two games at Memorial Stadium by a combined eight points.

And so, you can forgive Ryan Day for being cautious about this road trip. When speaking to reporters Tuesday, Day said he was impressed with what he’ve seen from Nebraska.

It’s March Madness right now. If you win, you move on,” Day said. “I don’t care what Nebraska’s record is, I watched film and they’re good.”

So, there are some reasons to believe that Nebraska could cause some issues for Ohio State this weekend if the team isn’t focused and executing at a high level. We’re here to uncover some things that could have Day up at night as he preps to jump on the plain and head further west in America’s heartland.

Here are five reasons the Cornhuskers could be a problem for the Buckeyes this weekend.

The Ohio State football team takes the next step on its 2021 season journey when it gets on the plane to take a trip to Nebraska this weekend. Game time is set for Noon, with Fox having the call.

Despite what the Cornhuskers’ record might suggest, they are a dangerous team, having not lost a game by more than eight points against all levels of competition this season. The game is in Lincoln and the Buckeyes will need to stay focused, engaged, and execute at a high level both in preparation and during the game.

OSU head coach Ryan Day knows this well. As he does every Tuesday during the season, Day met with the local media to talk about the game with Penn State and to preview Nebraska. If you’re interested in what the Day said leading up to Saturday, we have the full video here thanks to the folks at Ohio State. As an added bonus, wide receivers coach Brian Hartline was also made available to answer questions and talk about his unit.

Watch below and hear Day discuss the challenges Ohio State faced in executing on the offensive end against Penn State, the play of the defense, how impressed he is with Nebraska on film, and more.

Stay with us as we’ll have more preview pieces the rest of the week as we lead into this weekend.

Former Ohio State receiver Evan Spencer remembers trip to Lincoln, gracious fans

Former Ohio State receiver Evan Spencer was taken aback by how nice Nebraska fans were on a visit to Lincoln in 2011.

It’s widely known throughout college football how nice Nebraska fans can be. It’s a bit of a break from the norm because a usual road stop typically results in vitriol and hate directed toward the visiting team, especially when you get into deep, deep rivalries in the Big Ten.

Former Ohio State receiver Evan Spencer reflected on his travel to Lincoln as a visitor to Memorial Stadium back in 2011 when Luke Fickell was the caretaker of the OSU team for a year. By and large, that was a season to forget for the Buckeyes, the trip to Nebraska being one of seven losses the team experienced that year. Ohio State raced out to an early lead but dropped a heartbreaker 34-27 on October 8, 2011.

However, it was how the team was treated while traveling to the stadium that stood out to Spencer. He reflected on it during one of the latest podcast episodes of Glory Days: Dreams and Nightmares.

“I remember Nebraska, and we went there and had that awful loss,” Spencer said. “They were so nice and it was weird.  We are driving and granted we are used to getting like eggs thrown at our bus and all that other crap.  We’re driving and we have ‘The Ohio State’ written on the side and they are like, ‘Hi there.’ They are waving. We thought, ‘What’s this?’  And we lost. So maybe there’s more to it.”

So, that begs the question: Are Nebraska fans just nice in general because they are good people, or is it a sly ploy that subdues the opponent to sleep?

We’re pretty sure it’s the former, and there’s sure to be a few bad apples in any fanbase, but remember this when you either travel to Lincoln to take in a game or see one on television. The fans are also known to applaud the visiting team when they leave the field.

Come to think of it, we could all probably learn a lesson from how Nebraska fans treat fans and players of the opposing team.

Ohio State vs. Nebraska football preview and prediction

We’ve got everything you need to know, including a prediction, as Ohio State travels to Nebraska this weekend. #GoBucks

We found out a little more about this Ohio State football team after a nine-point victory over the best team they’ve seen since week 2. The good news is the Buckeyes still look like a much-improved team from the beginning of the year to now.

Don’t be concerned that the game wasn’t a blowout. Penn State matches up well athletically with OSU, they just don’t have the same kind of depth. Not to mention, the Nittany Lions always seem to get up for the Ohio State game as it’s probably the closest thing they have to a rivalry.

Now the Bucks travel to Lincoln to take on a curious Nebraska team. While the Husker’s record is unimpressive, their largest margin of defeat is a mere eight points. Scott Frost has had his team in position to win every game they’ve played thus far, and nothing would help job security more than an upset win over mighty Ohio State.

Ohio State basketball heavily favored over Nebraska Cornhuskers according to BetMGM

Ohio State is set to host Nebraska in a key Big Ten basketball contest Wednesday. According to BetMGM, the Buckeyes are heavily favored.

We know you’re getting pumped up for Ohio State to take on Clemson in the Sugar Bowl in just a couple of days, but until then, we’ve got some Buckeye hoops to watch.

OSU is off to a decent start to the season, but now that the Big Ten games have started, it’s been a little harder to snatch victory away from opponents. Ohio State sits at 7-2 overall, but just 1-2 in the conference thanks to some close losses on the road.

The Buckeyes are set to get back home Wednesday night, and they’re facing a Nebraska Cornhuskers squad that’s trying to turn things around. It’s the Big Ten, so an off night by any team can result in a less than desirable outcome, but the oddsmakers don’t see that occurring in this one.

In fact, according to BetMGM, Ohio State is favored by -12.5 against Nebraska.

Odds courtesy of BetMGM, The King of Sportsbooks.

As we know though, games aren’t played on paper, so let’s just look for a win from the Buckeyes. Here’s to hoping that’s exactly what we see.

Ohio State basketball vs. Nebraska: How and where to watch and listen to the game Saturday

Ohio State hosts Nebraska in a key Big Ten matchup Wednesday. We’ve got the information you need to find and watch or listen to the game.

The Ohio State basketball team will be back in action Wednesday night, playing a game it desperately needs in the win column because of a nip and tuck affair it couldn’t quite pull out on the road against Northwestern over the weekend. It’s a home affair against a struggling Nebraska squad, but in the Big Ten, any team can ruin the best of plans, so no team can afford to take a night off.

The Buckeyes have a string of difficult games on paper after this one against the Cornhuskers, so taking care of business is a must if they don’t want to get too far behind in the race for the postseason.

We know you’re looking for how to watch this game, so we have all the information you need to find it on television, radio, or streaming through an app. Find everything you need on the next page, and Go Bucks!

Ohio State basketball vs. Nebraska preview, prediction, and odds

Ohio State heads back home to take on Nebraska in a key Big Ten basketball contest. We’ve got a preview and prediction for the game.

Records

Ohio State 7-2 (1-2), Nebraska 4-5 (0-2)

Broadcast, TV, Game Time

Date: Wednesday, December 30
Game Time: 6:30 p.m. EST
Venue: Value City Arena, Columbus, OH
Network: BTN

The Ohio State basketball team heads back home to host Nebraska after what can only be explained as a gut punch at Northwestern. After squandering the lead late in Evanston and losing by one measly point, the Buckeyes now must get back in the win column.

If the rest of the Big Ten season looks anything like the beginning of it, the winner of the conference is going to have a few losses saddled around their neck. One-game here or there could make all the difference between finishing atop the standings vs. being stuck in the middle of the pack.

So far, Nebraska hasn’t gotten off to the best of starts, but the ‘Huskers still have a team capable of creating some fits and will get their fair share of upsets and moments during the season.

It’s just another day in the rough and tumble Big Ten, and OSU desperately needs to even its Big Ten record to 2-2 if it can.

Five reasons Ohio State beats Indiana on Saturday

Ohio State is set to host a top ten clash at the ‘Shoe against the Indiana Hoosiers. Here are five reasons the Buckeyes come out victorious.

After an unexpected week off, we get to see Justin Fields and Ohio State back in action this weekend against a somewhat surprising top-ten matchup against the Indiana Hoosiers. Believe it or not, it’s a tussle to determine first place in the Big Ten East, with the winner having the serious inside track to Indianapolis in a very shortened season.

Indiana has a sensational dual-threat quarterback in Michael Penix, Jr., and a defense that’s been one of the best so far in the Big Ten. In other words, this isn’t your father or grandfather’s Indiana team. Head coach Tom Allen has quietly assembled an upgrade in talent in Bloomington.

But Ohio State is still Ohio State, and it’s a prohibitive favorite in this one. Here are five reasons we believe the Buckeyes will beat back the upstart Hoosiers and remain undefeated.

Scott Frost responds to Ryan Day’s apology for final touchdown

Nebraska coach Scott Frost responded to Ohio State coach Ryan Day’s apology by saying his team needs to play better for different outcome.

At the conclusion of Ohio State’s 52-17 drubbing of Nebraska, Ryan Day said in his post-game press conference that he was going to apologize to Nebraska head coach Scott Frost for a touchdown in the final minutes when the game was already in hand. Day made a point to specifically call the situation out without being asked about it.

“At the end of the game there, if I could do that again, I would have taken a knee,” Day said.

Not only did Day make a public apology, but he also said he was going to text Frost and apologize personally as well, which apparently he did. The Nebraska head coach responded today when asked about the condolences.

Frost owned it and basically took responsibility for the final score.

“If we want the score to be different, we need to play better. That’s the bottom line,” said Frost.

It isn’t often you see an opposing coach making apologies for the score. And there are many Buckeye fans who were none too happy about the issued apology. However, there is something to be said for good sportsmanship. My guess is that if Coach Day had to do it over, he probably pulls the starters a series or two earlier to give the backups more time and then takes a knee in the final minutes.

Hindsight is 20/20 and it sounds like there are no hard feelings from the Cornhusker sideline. At least not publically, but I imagine that internally, it might be used for motivation down the road.
