Arch Manning, nephew of Peyton and Eli, hopes to visit Ohio State

According to 247Sports, there’s a Manning hoping to plan a visit to Ohio State. Arch Manning, the top 2023 QB, is getting noticed.

The Manning name is legendary when it comes to the quarterback position. Archie Manning had a Hall of Fame career with the New Orleans Saints. His son, Peyton, is also headed that way, and his other, Eli, has two Super Bowls to his credit and also has a shot at being enshrined.

Now comes the next Manning that could be next in line, and he seems to have Ohio State on his radar.

Arch Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli — and grandson of Archie — is already listed as a five-star prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He lives in New Orleans and has already drawn significant interest from the blue-bloods of college football. It’s early, but he’s the top-ranked quarterback in the class as of right now out of Isidore Newman.

According to 247Sports Steve Wiltfong, Manning’s father Cooper says his son has visits planned to Clemson, SMU, Texas, Alabama, and Georgia in June. But that’s not all. After that, he hopes to schedule visits to Stanford, USC, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. It may not all happen in June, but the hope is to schedule them soon.

“He’s been enjoying getting to know these schools from other parts of the country,” Cooper Manning told Wiltfong. “You kind of knock out what’s close to you and he’s enjoyed having conversations with Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford and USC. They just kind of came on the scene in the last month or so, the last few months.”

OK. Well, at least the Buckeyes seem to have their foot in the door. Manning has been fairly private with his recruitment, and who can blame him since he’s in the 2023 class, but there doesn’t appear to be a clear favorite at the moment. You’d have to think the teams close to home are high on the list, and then go from there.

There’s still a long way to go on this process, but we’ll stay on top of it as more news emerges on where Manning is leaning.

Ohio State makes shortlist for yet another top rated cornerback

Ohio State has made the top six for three-star defensive back Jayden Bellamy out of New Jersey.

Can you ever have too many cornerbacks? Ohio State recently got a verbal commitment from three-star corner Ryan Turner earlier this week, and from Kyle Stokes just a few days prior to that. The Buckeyes have now made the cut for yet another defensive back.

Jayden Bellamy out of Oradell, New Jersey, trimmed his list and has Ohio State firmly in the mix. Bellamy is rated as a three-star prospect and is a top 40 cornerback in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Others making the list for Bellamy’s services include Clemson, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, and Rutgers. Clemson, somewhat late to the game,  just made its offer a couple of weeks ago.

Some may find it surprising that the Scarlet Knights are included in a list with some of college football’s blue bloods. However, Rutgers is close to home, and maybe more telling is the fact that Bellamy’s dad, Jay Bellamy played his college ball in Piscataway.

Bellamy has an official visit set with Ohio State for June 25 and will be visiting Penn State and Notre Dame earlier in the month.

Ohio State lands commitment from Florida defensive back

For the second time in a matter of days, Ohio State has landed a commitment from a 2022 defensive back recruit in the state of Florida.

Just a few days after landing a commitment from one defensive back from Florida, the Buckeyes have secured another for the class of 2022. According to an announcement on his Twitter account Wednesday, three-star cornerback Ryan Turner out of Hollywood, Florida has verbally committed to OSU. This comes on the heels of Seffner, Florida product Kyle Stokes also making the Buckeyes his college choice.

Turner may not be the four or five-star prospect we’ve been accustomed to seeing pledge their services to Ohio State, but rest assured the coaching staff has done its homework and likes what it sees from the 6-foot, 180-pounder. Turner is ranked as the No. 34 cornerback in the class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. But that doesn’t tell the whole story.

Turner chose OSU over the likes of Boston College, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Penn State, and others. He becomes the twelfth commitment for the 2022 class that has now vaulted back up to No. 2 just behind Georgia.

The news may not excite Buckeye fans, but just look at the list of schools that desperately wanted to land his services and that’s all you need to know. It’s also some good momentum for a recruiting class that had been stuck in neutral for a while.

Ohio State makes final eight for top 2022 defensive end

Ohio State is in the hunt for one of the nation’s top defensive ends/ The Buckeyes have made the cut for top 2022 defensive end Enai White.

One of the top-rated defensive ends in the 2022 recruiting class has narrowed his list the final eight and Ohio State has made it to the next round in the Enai White sweepstakes.

White is a four-star prospect and is rated as the No. 2 weakside defensive end and the No. 39 overall player in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings. Recruiting analyst Brian Dohn has compared White to current NFL star, Jason Pierre-Paul.

Other teams to make White’s shortlist include Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Miami (FL), Oregon, and Texas A&M.

White currently resides in Florida and plays his high school ball at Imhotep Institute, but is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With the Keystone state roots, it is somewhat surprising that Penn State was not included in White’s list of top schools.

White has set June 25-27 as his official date to visit Ohio State which will conclude a whirlwind, month-long tour. He’ll visit Florida on June 4-6, Georgia on June 11-13, and Alabama on June 18-20. The Buckeyes will have a great opportunity to leave the final impression.

Ohio State center Ibrahima Diallo to enter transfer portal

After two seasons, Ibrahima Diallo will be transferring from Ohio State to seek playing time elsewhere. He will enter the transfer portal.

After two seasons with the Ohio State basketball program, center Ibrahima Diallo has entered the transfer portal. The 6-foot, 10-inch post player will look elsewhere to get playing time.

With lack of size inside this past season, Diallo probably could’ve helped the Buckeyes with some valuable minutes. However, the Senegal native was battling an MCL injury most of the season and was limited to just five games.

Diallo came to Ohio State as a three-star center in the 2019 class out of Prolific Prep in Napa, California. He was rated as the No. 64 center in the nation coming out of high school according to 247Sports. As a freshman, Diallo played in just eight games, averaging 1.3 points per game and 1.9 rebounds in limited action.

With Diallo announcing his decision to leave, it leaves the Buckeyes shorthanded once again inside. However, this does open up another scholarship spot on the basketball roster.

Does this open the door for another center to come to Columbus… maybe five-star center Efton Reid? Reid is the No. 3 center in the 2021 class and should be making his decision known soon.

Either way, Chris Holtmann now has another spot to fill and not much time to do so.

Ohio State get commitment from three-star safety

Ohio State football landed its first commitment since February in a three-star safety from the state of Florida.

After a weekend that saw ten Ohio State players drafted and many others signing undrafted free agency contracts, Ryan Day and the coaching staff got more good news on Sunday. Three-star safety, Kye Stokes gave a verbal commitment to play for the Buckeyes.

Stokes hails from Seffner, Florida, and is the No. 56 rated athlete in the nation according to 247Sports. Although listed as an athlete, Stokes projects to play safety for the Bucks. He has great size at 6-feet, 2-inches, and speed to burn. Stokes clocked a 10.80 personal best in the 100-meter dash in a high school track meet.

Don’t let the three stars fool you, Stokes was a wanted man spurning the likes of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, and Notre Dame. And from the looks of his personal Twitter account, Stokes is stoked to be coming to Columbus.

Stokes is a nice pick-up for Ohio State and its first verbal commitment since February.

Tennessee transfer Henry To’o To’o picks up crystal ball prediction to Ohio State

Henry To’o To’o to Ohio State is starting to pick up steam as the Tennesse transfer picked up a crystal ball prediction to the Buckeyes.

The waters have begun stirring as rumors that Henry To’o To’o is close to making his transfer decision. Alabama has been the favorite for a while now, but the SEC still has not lifted their rule on interconference transfers. If To’o To’o were to choose the Crimson Tide at this point, he’d have to sit out a year.

Last night, the Buckeyes got some good news from Ohio State recruiting insider, Bill Kurelic who now has the Tennesee transfer crystal balled to OSU.  There are two other predictions that have To’o To’o still landing in Tuscaloosa, but Kurelic has a pretty good track record when it comes to Buckeye recruits and usually doesn’t give his crystal ball pick until he feels closer to certain. And that’s good news for Ohio State.

To’o To’o has been arguably the best linebacker on Tennesee’s roster both as a freshman and sophomore. He was on the Butkus and Bednarik watch lists as in his second year in Knoxville and has totaled 140 tackles with 12.5 of those coming for a loss in his two years.

This would be a big catch either way, but it would especially be huge after losing Dasan McCullough to Indiana earlier this week. We’ll keep you updated as further news develops.

Ohio State basketball makes cut for 2022 four-star center

Ohio State basketball is looking to add a center to the 2022 recruiting class and has made the cut for one of the top bigs in the country.

If there was a glaring need from last year’s Ohio State basketball squad, it was the absence of a true center. Chris Holtman has been working hard to fill that void this year bringing in Indiana transfer, Joey Brunk who stands at 6- feet, 11-inches.

The Buckeyes are also still in the running for five-star center Efton Reid who was set to make his decision on April 15, but has pushed his commitment date back and has kept college choice very quiet. While Reid, who is the No. 3 center in the 2021 class would be a huge get, there are no guarantees he ends up in Columbus. And even if he does, can you ever have too many bigs?

Even if the Bucks miss out on Reid, Brunk will fill a need for this coming year but will be out of eligibility at season’s end. So, Holtman and company are looking to add a center to the 2022 class and have made the shortlist for Donovan Clingan out of Bristol, Connecticut.

Clingan is a seven-footer and is ranked as the No. 6 center in the 2022 recruiting class according to 247 Sports composite rankings. Joining the Buckeyes on Clingan’s list are Michigan, Georgetown, Syracuse, Providence, Rutgers, Notre Dame, and UConn.

There is no crystal ball prediction as to where Clingan lands at this point, but we’ll keep you up to date as things develop.

Dasan McCullough decommits from Ohio State, flips to Indiana

Four-star 2022 prospect Dasan McCullough decommitted from Ohio State on Sunday, instead joining his father and brothers at Indiana.

They say blood is thicker than water, and we seem to have just got evidence of that when it comes to Ohio State’s recruiting efforts.

The Buckeyes got a commitment from four-star linebacker Dasan McCullough last August, but that changed on Saturday. According to an announcement on McCullough’s Twitter account, he will now be joining his father and two brothers at Indiana. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, McCullough is ranked as the No. 6 athlete in the entire class, and No. 50 overall recruit.

McCullough’s father, DeLand, accepted a position as the Hoosiers’ associate head coach and running backs coach in February under head man Tom Allen. He previously worked for Indiana from 2011-2016, so it’s a coming home party in a way.

Since that time, two of McCullough’s brothers have made announcements that they will be joining Indiana. His younger brother Daeh, committed as a member of the 2023 class as a defensive back on April 13, and his older brother DeLand McCullough II, announced a transfer from Miami (Oh) to Indiana on Saturday.

On Sunday, it was Dasan’s turn despite reiterating his commitment to Ohio State on more than one occasion in the face of the mounting questions. But you really can’t blame a kid for going to a school to be a part of a pretty cool family dynamic.

McCullough did release a statement on Twitter thanking Ohio State and looking forward to the future at Indiana with his family.

The loss is a big one for the Buckeyes and pushes the class to the No. 3 rated one overall for 2022 behind Georgia and LSU.
