Report: Elite 2026 defensive end will visit Ohio State football for ‘The Game’

This is great news for the Buckeyes

One of Ohio State football’s top 2026 targets is Louisiana defensive end, [autotag]Jahkeem Stewart[/autotag].

The 6-foot, 6-inch and 270-pound pass rusher is one of the country’s best, ranking as the No. 2 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. According to a report from 247Sports Bill Kurelic (subscription required), Stewart will return to Columbus to see the Buckeyes host the Michigan Wolverines.

This will be the second trip to Ohio State for Stewart, as he participated in one of the June camps. He also has visits to Texas, Georgia and LSU, and either Miami or Auburn set up as well.

Stewart mentioned to Kurelic that he has a great relationship with defensive line coach Larry Johnson, as he said “everything is fine, it’s going great.”

Like many southern prospects, it’s never easy to land a player of Stewart’s caliber by a northern school. Fortunately for Ohio State, it has the pull to get it done and hopefully that ends up being the case.

Is Trey McNutt postponing his commitment good news for Ohio State football?

Are the Buckeyes making a move in McNutt’s recruitment?

One of the top 2025 Ohio prospects is safety [autotag]Trey McNutt[/autotag], who was supposed to make his commitment on August 3 with Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida and USC as his finalists.

Multiple reports came out on Friday that the 6-foot, 180-pound star will not make his choice in a few weeks. The nation’s No. 19 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings seemed to be favoring the Ducks, but a recent wave of commitments for them clearly has McNutt questioning if that is the place for him.

This can only be viewed as a positive development for the Buckeyes, as they now have more time to recruit the legacy.

Without a timeframe for a commitment, it’s hard to guess what McNutt is thinking. Hopefully he comes to his senses and eventually suits up for the Scarlet and Gray.

Ohio State football is in 5-star offensive tackles top group

The Buckeyes are one of the schools that advance with the nation’s top offensive tackle

It is still very early for the 2026 cycle, but you have to get excited when the nation’s top offensive tackle prospect is still considering Ohio State football.

Missouri’s [autotag]Jackson Cantwell[/autotag], a 6-foot, 8-inch, 300-pound tackle, trimmed his list down to fourteen schools on Thursday afternoon. It’s an impressive list of teams that include Georgia, USC, Oregon, and Michigan that are trying to lure him to play for them.

Cantwell is a 5-star prospect and the country’s No. 3 overall recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is surely a priority recruit for the Buckeyes, but you have to expect that it’s the same for many of the remaining colleges that are on his list.

Ohio State wasn’t the first major school to offer him, but it was still on the early side. Hopefully the longer relationship with the Buckeyes staff wins out in the end for Cantwell.

North Shore High School has been runner-ups in the 6A class of Texas high school football the last two seasons and expectations are high for Sanchez his senior season. Ohio State football nabs another defensive lineman

In case you missed it, Ohio State football nabs another defensive lineman in the class of 2025 #GoBucks

Ohio State football is setting up to have an explosive 2025 recruiting class and today the class got even better. Jarquez Carter is a highly sought after three-star defensive lineman from the state of Florida and announced his intentions on playing for the Buckeyes Thursday.

Ohio State has added some serious talent to the defensive line this recruiting cycle and Carter will be joining Trajen Odom and Maxwell Roy. The consensus top 50 defensive lineman in the country was offered by Ohio State last November during a gameday visit and the Buckeyes have been at the top of his list ever since.

He chose the Buckeyes over Miami, who swooped in and stole Justin Scott last year. He also chose Ohio State over another Big Ten power in Penn State.

Ohio State football five-star commit dispels any rumors of him flipping

Great news for the Buckeyes! #GoBucks

It’s pretty normal with Southern recruits to commit to a program, even when they are still looking at others schools.

Multiple Ohio State football commits have taken official visits, and with that comes rumors of flipping. One of those players who has done so is Alabama cornerback, [autotag]Na’eem Offord[/autotag], who has taken official visits to Oregon, Alabama, and Auburn.

The 6-foot, 1-inch, 185-pound corner also took one to Columbus, and it just confirmed what he already knew, he’s a Buckeye. That still won’t stop rumors, and on Tuesday night, Offord dispelled any ideas of a potential flip with this statement.

As one of the highest ranked current 2025 commits, the No. 7 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Offord is one of the gems of the Ohio State class. Hopefully his statement cools off other teams from trying to flip him.

Ohio State football recruiting scouting report: Jaylen McClain

Ohio State football recruiting scouting report: Jaylen McClain #GoBucks

Ohio State football had another dominant recruiting class for the 2024 haul and landed a consensus top-five class in the country. Once again, the class features serious star power and the Buckeyes were able to snag some amazing talent on the defensive side of the ball including a fascinating prospect from the state of New Jersey.

Name: Jaylen McClain

High School: Seton Prep (West Orange, NJ)

Height: 6 feet, 0 inches

Weight: 185 pounds

Position: Safety

Strengths

Right now Jaylen McClain has the size to play in the Big Ten and his frame should allow him to weigh over 200 pounds with ease. He knows how to utilize his size in his play too as he has no problem putting some pop behind his pads. His length also helps a great deal with wrapping up ball carriers.

NEXT … Weaknesses

Ohio State football trending to add 2025 Florida defensive lineman Jarquez Carter

The Buckeyes are looking good with the Florida star who commits later this week #GoBucks

Although Ohio State football has a very good collection of 2025 defensive line commits, it’s still looking to add a few more.

One of those targets is Florida defensive tackle, [autotag]Jarquez Carter[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 2-inch, 284-pounder has the look of an interior player. He’s currently ranked as the nation’s No. 395 overall prospect and 42nd defensive lineman according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

With Carter making his commitment in just a few days, on July 18, it’s looking like the Buckeyes will get a BOOM! on Thursday. 247Sports insider, Bill Kurelic, has logged a crystal ball pick for Ohio State to come out on top in his recruitment. Miami insider, Gaby Urrutia, also changed his pick today to the Buckeyes as well.

His four finalists are the Buckeyes, Miami, UCF and Penn State. The expectation is that he will announce in Ohio State’s favor.

Ohio State football left off 2026 in-state offensive lineman’s top-five

Interesting news. #GoBucks

Ohio State football has done very well over the last few recruiting cycles to lock up the state’s top players.

That won’t be the case for 2026 offensive lineman [autotag]Will Conroy[/autotag], who on Monday morning announced his top-five schools, with the Buckeyes nowhere to be seen. The 6-foot, 3-inch, 275-pounder named Arizona State, Oklahoma, Miami, Michigan and Florida in his top group.

It’s a bit interesting to see Ohio State omitted on his list, as the only current 247Sports Crystal Ball pick was for the Buckeyes. It looks like the nation’s No. 328 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings won’t end up in Columbus.

Ohio State is still in a good position to land the top in-state offensive lineman in Maxwell Riley along with another top-150 local prospect in Sam Greer.

Former Illinois basketball commit now hearing from Ohio State

Multiple Big Ten schools are after the former Illini commit

Basketball runs in the Fears family, and what was a loss for the University of Illinois, could ultimately be Ohio State’s gain.

[autotag]Jeremiah Fears[/autotag], brother of Michigan State guard Jeremy, at one point was committed to his home state school, Illinois. On July 1, the 6-foot, 3-inch, 175-pound combo guard decided to reopen his recruitment. Unlike his brother, Jeremiah has left the state of Illinois to finish his high school career at Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona.

Since the nation’s No. 32 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings has decommitted from the Illini, he has heard from multiple schools, with the Buckeyes being one of them.

Ohio State recently got its first commitment from a 2025 class prospect as in-state guard Dorian Jones verballed to the Buckeyes on the same day Fears changed his mind. It seems like OSU will be looking to add more than a few more players to join Jones in the class, with the hope that the former Illini commit could join him.
