Report: Ohio State to host 2025 5-star Texas linebacker

A couple of big visits on tap for the Buckeyes

The James Laurinaitis effect is once again having a positive impact on Ohio State football recruiting.

We have recently seen it with the commitment of Florida linebacker, Tarvos Alford. It is happening again with Texas linebacker, [autotag]Johan Williams[/autotag]. According to a report by On3’s Steve Wiltfong, the 6-foot, 3-inch, 203-pound prospect will take a visit to Columbus next weekend with an official visit to come in June.

Williams is an elite prospect, a 5-star according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings as the No. 13 overall player and top linebacker in the country. It won’t be easy for the Buckeyes to lure him north, but anytime multiple visits are set up, it’s a great sign.

With two commits at the position, Alford and Eli Lee, adding Williams would be the icing on the cake.

Ohio State gets crystal ball prediction to land four-star running back

This would be another huge addition to the 2025 class! #GoBucks

Ohio State football got some good news to kick off April. Four-star running back, Jordon Davison has been crystal balled to the Buckeyes by recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong. This coming fresh from a visit to Columbus this past weekend.

Davison is ranked as the No. 7 overall running back in the 2025 class according to 247Sports composite rankings. The timing of the news coincides with the hiring of new running backs coach, Carlos Locklyn.

Even though Texas recruiting insider, Hank South has logged a prediction for Davison to land with the Longhorns, Wiltfong believes this past weekend’s visit was enough to sway the California native to head east to OSU.

The Buckeyes still face an uphill battle for the talented running back. Davison has recently made visits to Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M and is yet to narrow his choices.

Many Michigan fans felt like the addition of Tony Alford would lead Davison to the Maize and Blue, but it doesn’t look like that is currently the situation at hand. However, we all know things can change at a moment’s notice in the recruiting world. We’ll keep you posted as things develop.

Ohio State offers 2026 North Carolina linebacker

Another offer going out. #GoBucks

It was a big weekend for Ohio State football recruiting as the Buckeyes landed commitments from four players in the 2025 class.

This included a big addition at linebacker as Tarvos Alford, a four-star recruit on all four major recruiting resources committed to the Buckeyes on Saturday. He joins Eli Lee who committed to Ohio State in October as the two linebacker commits for the Buckeyes in the 2025 class.

In the 2026 class, Ohio State has put out offers to linebackers including Thomas Davis Jr. who received an offer today. The 6-foot-2, 195 pound linebacker is the son of former Carolina Panthers all pro linebacker Thomas Davis.

Davis attends Weddington high school in North Carolina. He is rated as a four-star recruit by On3, 247Sports, and Rivals. He is highest rated by Rivals who currently rates him as the top linebacker in the class.

Davis will be a highly sought after player in the 2026 class as he now holds 21 offers. NC State appears to be an early favorite to land him, however it is still very early in the recruiting process as he also holds offers from USC, Penn State, LSU, Notre Dame, and others.

BOOM x 4! Ohio State lands its fourth commitment of the weekend

BOOM x 4 for the Buckeyes this weekend

Ohio State football is in the midst of another hot recruiting streak, as the positive momentum continued on Sunday with another 2025 commit.

On Friday it was defensive end London Merritt, Saturday saw two BOOM’s with linebacker Tarvos Alford and wide receiver De’zie Jones. Sunday was safety [autotag]DeShawn Stewart[/autotag] making his pledge to the Buckeyes, giving Ohio State four commits on the weekend.

Stewart, who preps at the same high school as Jones in New Jersey, stands 6-foot, 2-inches and weighs 185-pounds while being ranked as the No. 284 overall prospect and 24th safety according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is the first safety commit for the Buckeyes in the class.

Ohio State now holds 11 total commitments and is ranked as the No. 2 overall class in the nation in 247Sports Team Rankings. The Buckeyes are in contention to land the nation’s top class come next February.

Four-star receiver commits to Ohio State

Four-star receiver commits to Ohio State. #GoBucks

Ohio State football is moving hot and heavy this recruiting cycle with the defensive train looks to be chugging and moving along, but the offensive momentum is building a bit slower.

The Buckeyes have had a busy weekend with a few other recruiting tidbits dropping and with student appreciation day complete, but some of the bigger news is the commitment from De’Zie Jones.

Jones is a four-star wide receiver prospect from the state of New Jersey in the class of 2025. He is widely considered a top-ten prospect from the talent-rich state of New Jersey. Standing at 6-foot and 180 pounds, Jones has the size and talent to continue his dominance from DePaul Catholic to Columbus, Ohio.

Ohio State stays hot recruiting, lands 2025 Florida linebacker

The Buckeyes are on fire recruiting once again. #GoBucks

It looks like Ohio State football is starting another recruiting hot streak, as it secured its second commitment of the weekend.

The Buckeyes landed Florida defensive end, London Merritt, on Friday and backed it up on Saturday with another Sunshine State star, linebacker, [autotag]Tarvos Alford[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 210-pound defender chose Ohio State over Florida, Florida State, Miami, UCF and Tennessee.

The linebacker is ranked as the No. 63 overall prospect and 8th ranked player at his position according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Alford joins Eli Lee as the two current players who will line up in the second level of the defense in the Ohio State 2025 class.

The group now sits at nine total commitments, 7 of them being on the defensive side of the ball.

Ohio State lands a commitment from 4-star 2025 Florida defensive end

A BOOM! to start the Buckeyes weekend. #GoBucks

It’s a big weekend for Ohio State football in regards to recruiting and on Friday night it started off with a BOOM!

[autotag]London Merrit[/autotag], the Georgia native who currently preps in Florida at IMG Academy, is a 2025 defensive end who committed to the Buckeyes to start off the weekend’s festivities. The 6-foot, 3-inch, 250-pound pass rusher is one of the best players in the country, ranking as the No. 10 defensive lineman and 101st overall according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Now the 2025 Buckeye recruiting class is back to eight commits, a group that is viewed as one of the best in the country, even though the volume is not there yet.

Merritt is the second defensive lineman to commit to Ohio State in the cycle, as Pennsylvania’s Zahir Mathis joined in January.

Ohio State misses out on 2025 four-star Texas running back

The Buckeyes missed on the running back. #GoBucks

Ohio State football was on recruiting hot steak recently, but things have cooled off a bit, and Friday afternoon continued with that trend.

The Buckeyes were one of six schools that 2025 Texas Running Back, [autotag]Tory Blaylock[/autotag], selected from on Friday afternoon, and it was Oklahoma winning out for his commitment. He is a solid recruit, as he ranks as the nation’s No. 17 running back and 219th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Although his ranking seems a bit low, Blaylock had offers from virtually every major school in the country. It did seem like Ohio State had a few others higher on its recruiting board though, so a small silver lining.

Running back recruiting is something to watch for the Buckeyes, as we all know that Tony Alford left for Michigan and no one occupies the position currently. Will it hurt recruiting? We will find out soon.

Ohio State trending heavily to land 2025 linebacker who commits on Saturday

A BOOM is building for Saturday

It was a big question coming into 2025 Florida linebacker [autotag]Tarvos Alford[/autotag]’s visit to Ohio State last week. Just ow serious was he considering the Buckeyes?

Short answer, very serious. On Wednesday a flood of 247Sports Crystal Ball picks went in for the 6-foot, 2-inch, 210-pound prospect to pick Ohio State when he announces his commitment on Saturday.

It’s not just that the picks were made, it was who did them. Two of the national recruiting analysts, Steve Wiltfong and Brian Dohn, were among the predictions, along with Florida insider, Blake Alderman, and Buckeye insider, Bill Kurelic. It very much looks like Ohio State will add to its class the No. 63 overall prospect and 8th ranked linebacker according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings on Saturday.

Even if Alford does commit to the Buckeyes, they’ll have to recruit him until signing day as he is still schedule to take official visits to other schools after making his verbal.

Top 2025 offensive tackle to visit Ohio State

On campus this weekend! #GoBucks

Ohio State’s offensive tackle recruiting in recent classes has drawn some criticism as the Buckeyes failed to land a top 20 On3 Industry ranked offensive tackle in the 2023 and 2024 classes.

The Buckeyes’ 2025 recruiting class is off to a great start. This does indeed include an offensive tackle with Ohio State landing a commitment from Carter Lowe, who is the 38th ranked player and sixth ranked offensive tackle in the class.

Ohio State has also put out offers to 11 other offensive tackles in the class — including David Sanders.

The 6-foot-5.5, 275 pound offensive tackle who attends Providence Day High School in North Carolina is a five star on all four of the major recruiting resources and the second ranked player on On3 Industry rankings.

He is a high priority recruit for many teams around college football, including Ohio State as Sanders is set for a visit with the Buckeyes on Saturday, March 30.
