Updated ESPN FPI game-by-game Ohio State football predictions for remainder of schedule after Week 5

So, what about that last game of the year now? Is Ohio State getting more predictive love from the ESPN Football Power Index?

The Ohio State football team is beginning to look like a bunch that is coming together. The wins haven’t exactly been against the best in the country, but Rutgers more than hung with Michigan, and OSU ran the Scarlet Knights off the field early in the game Saturday.

It all has Buckeye fans feeling more optimistic about what might happen in 2021, and has many now pointing toward a team in Columbus that might be getting its act together just in time to make a run at some pretty special things.

Now, all the caveats and disclaimer apply here about the level of competition, but OSU struggled against the likes of Tulsa a couple of weeks ago, so it’s definitely better than the alternative.

With the last couple of improving weeks in the rearview mirror, it feels like a good time to check in with what the ESPN FPI now says about predicting the remainder of the Ohio State football schedule. Has OSU made any progress in the percentage chance of winning each game? Is Michigan still favored to take down the Buckeyes in the Big House at the end of the year?

Let’s get into it, shall we?

ESPN FPI predicts Ohio State football’s remaining win probability for remaining schedule

The ESPN FPI has revised its game-by-game predictions for the remainder of the Ohio State football season. See how things have changed.

OK, we’ve made it through three weeks now of Big Ten and Ohio State football. Yes. Believe it.

It sure didn’t look like we’d even get this far just a couple of months ago when the Big Ten decided to postpone the season due to coronavirus concerns. But, here we are.

We’re approaching the middle of the schedule after three games, and we’ve now had a decent look at the product on the field. So too, has the ESPN Football Percentage Index. Based on the play on the field, the worldwide leader has further updated the FPI predictions for the remainder of OSU’s schedule with five weeks to go in the regular-season schedule.

You’ll see that the FPI favors Ohio State heavily in its remaining games, but the win probability is changing in some surprising ways with future opponents.

Here’s what ESPN sees happening with the future of the Ohio State football schedule.

Five way too early bold predictions for Ohio State football in 2020

We’re looking way ahead to this fall and throwing out five way too early bold predictions for Ohio State football in 2020.

If you feel like you’re in the college football equivalent of purgatory, you are not alone. It may have only been less than two months since Ohio State lost in shocking and depressing fashion to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl, but it feels much longer.

We’ll have spring ball soon enough, but until then, we’re left to question what if, why, and for what reason? But enough about the past, we’re here to look ahead — perhaps way ahead to next season.

We always roll out some bold predictions for the upcoming football season, but this time we’re getting ahead of the game with five way-too-early bold predictions for this fall. By the way, we nailed every single one of our bold predictions before the season last year.

That means we’ll probably be way off this time, but nonetheless, we’ll give it the old college football try.

Re-visiting our five preseason bold predictions for Ohio State in 2019

We made five preseason bold predictions for the 2019 Ohio State football season. Here’s a look at how we did when all the dust settled.

Sadly, the 2019 football season for Ohio State has come to an end. It is one that started with some pretty modest expectations — at least from the national media. In the end, it was one for the ages, but one that feels like it finished before it should have in a College Football Playoff semifinal loss.

We started the year banging out five preseason bold predictions for this team and we figured it would be worth re-visiting now that the season is over. We did the same thing at mid-season, and now we can look back and see exactly how we did.

So here it is — we are holding ourselves accountable by time re-visiting our five bold predictions for 2019. As you’ll see though, we did pretty good. Tell your friends because it’s unlikely we are this spot on like this ever again.
