Ohio State football commit making cross-country trip for Indiana game

Ohio State football’s wide receiver commit Phillip Bell will be making a cross-country trip for the top-five battle on Saturday.

The Ohio State Buckeyes bring in some of the best wide receivers in the country, and next season is going to be no different with talent like Phillip Bell joining the program.

Bell, who is the 28th-best recruit via 247Sports Composite Rating, committed to Ohio State in August and will be making the trip back to Columbus for the Buckeyes battle with Indiana.

He told the public that via Twitter/X.

Bell was recruited by Brian Hartline and visited back in June as well. With Ohio State having beaten out other Big Ten programs like USC and Penn State, getting a commitment from Bell was huge.

Bell will join Tavien St. Clair, the No. 2 quarterback in the class, and Devin Sanchez, the No. 1 cornerback, in Columbus next season. Let’s just say the Buckeyes will again have high expectations with this array of talent.

A four-star commit, Bell is playing his high school football with Mission Viejo in California, so to make this game, he’ll have quite the mission ahead of him. But, for a top-five battle, it should be worth it.

Ryan Day chirps back at Pat McAfee’s comment about Indiana

Ryan Day joined the The Pat McAfee Show, and he delivered a mic-drop worthy exit to close out his appearance on the show.

Ryan Day hasn’t proven to be a real mic-drop head coach during his tenure with Ohio State. He is leading one of the best college football programs in the country but isn’t the most outspoken coach.

However, he recently joined The Pat McAfee Show as the Buckeyes are set to face the No. 5-ranked Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday.

With ESPN’s College Gameday in Columbus, this game is the premier college football game on the weekend slate. Let’s just say Day gave quite the headline-producing last line.

“Coach, thanks so much for making time for us. Good luck tomorrow. This Hoosiers team is the real deal,” McAfee said.

However, Day got the last life. He said, “So are we.”

Boom!

Day knows that the Hoosiers are getting quite a bit of love heading into this battle, but there’s also the conversation about who they’ve really beaten this season. Nonetheless, it should be a thrilling battle.

That said, the Buckeyes have a road win over top-ten Penn State on their resume and have proven they are the real deal. Even the one-point win on the road over the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks was an impressive outing.

Nonetheless, all parties know that talk is just that, and on Saturday at noon ET we’ll see what the Hoosiers (and the Buckeyes for that matter) are made of.

Ohio State football legend, Justin Fields announced as ESPN College GameDay guest picker

Ohio State football legend, Justin Fields announced as College Gameday guest picker #GoBucks

Ohio State football will have the opportunity to play in its third top five match-up of the season against the Indiana Hoosiers and this game is receiving some insane hype. Come Saturday, Columbus, Ohio, will be hosting Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff as well as ESPN’s College GameDay.

ESPN recently announced its guest picker for the pregame show and former Ohio State quarterback, Justin Fields, will be joining the crew. The show typically either gets celebrity or professional athlete alumni and the Fields pick makes perfect sense considering his current team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, have already played on Thursday night.

The former All-American will join C.J. Stroud, who was a guest in 2023, A.J. Hawk in 2022, Eddie George in 2019 and 2017, Orlando Pace in 2016, Archie Griffin in 2015, and Santonio Holmes in 2009, as the only former Ohio State football players who were guest pickers.

For those heading to the game the College GameDay set will be near St. John Arena and the Big Noon Kickoff set will be near the RPAC.

Why Justin Fields is the perfect guest picker for Ohio State vs. Indiana

ESPN’s College Gameday is coming to Columbus for Ohio State vs. Indiana, and Justin Fields has been announced as the guest picker.

ESPN’s College Gameday is coming to campus, and they will treat the hundreds of Ohio State football fans with a guest appearance from a former superstar.

That star quarterback was none other than Justin Fields, who is one of the most memorable quarterbacks in recent history for the Buckeyes.

Other former players, like Joe Burrow, could’ve been possible candidates as well, but Fields won the prize. Coming off a win against the Browns on Thursday Night Football with his Pittsburgh Steelers doesn’t hurt either.

Here’s the official release.

Having been back to Columbus since being a first-round pick, Fields is the perfect pick because he’s a fan favorite.

While Burrow’s name might have been thrown out and even Keanu Reeves, who has played Ohio State quarterbacks in movies, made some sense, it is Fields who will get this crowd going.

However, the dominos also had to fall in the right way as the Steelers will have the next few days without a game as they did play on Thursday Night Football.

Had that not been the case, we might not be typing this article up. Fields spent two seasons with the Buckeyes and went for a total of 63 passing touchdowns in those.

Let’s just say it is pretty easy to guess who Fields is going to pick on Saturday!

An ESPN analyst actually suggested Indiana sit Kurtis Rourke vs. Ohio State

Should Indiana bench Kurtis Rourke against Ohio State on Saturday? ESPN analyst Joey Galloway makes the case for it.

Could the No. 5 Indiana not play its starting quarterback, lose the game against Ohio State by a significant margin and get into the playoffs?

Well, that’s a tough question that only the College Football Playoff committee could answer.

Most would think an 11-1 Indiana team could get in, especially with a easy win over Nebraska, a team that beat top-20 Colorado, earlier in the season, but does that rely upon what happens on Saturday?

While those questions don’t have real answers for now, one could argue that Indiana’s best option is to bench its starting quarterback and eat the loss to avoid his being injured.

That’s at least the take that ESPN’s Joey Galloway had. His main point was that Florida State could’ve won a National Championship had Jordan Travis not been hurt late in the season. No one on Twitter/X was a fan of that suggestion as it would void fans a real top-five battle.

Here’s the full clip.

Now, there hasn’t been any real discussion of this, just Galloway’s take. Rourke, who led the MAC in passing yards and passing touchdowns at Ohio in 2022, has played well this season and has a 21:4 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

On top of that, should Ohio State blow out Indiana and the Hoosiers not have a top-25 win to end the season, they might not get in, especially if they pulled off a move like this. Nonetheless, it was a take thrown out.

Just, for all parties, hopefully it won’t be one that Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti takes any real consideration of.

‘College GameDay’ announces Week 13 location: Where will Nick Saban be?

Where will College GameDay be this Saturday? Here’s what you need to know, as well as what happened the last time Alabama football legend Nick Saban visited this iconic site.

ESPN’s “College GameDay” has announced where the iconic pregame show will be for Week 13 of the 2024 college football season.

The GameDay crew of Nick Saban, host Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee will be at Ohio Stadium in Columbus for the top five showdown between the Indiana Hoosiers (10-0) and the Ohio State Buckeyes (9-1).

It marks the 24th time that Ohio State has hosted GameDay, the most of any college football program. Alabama is second, having hosted 19 times. Kickoff for Indiana-Ohio State is at 11 a.m. CT. The game can be seen on Fox as part of the network’s “Big Noon Saturday” game.

Ohio State is No. 2 in both the College Football Playoff rankings and the US LBM Coaches Poll. Indiana is ranked No. 5.

“College GameDay” begins broadcasting live at 8 a.m. CT on ESPN.

Nick Saban returns to Ohio State years after monumental upset

For Saban, GameDay’s visit to Columbus will mark a return to the site of a monumental upset from his days as Michigan State‘s head coach. On Nov. 7, 1998, Saban and the Spartans pulled off a stunning 28-24 win over coach John Cooper’s No. 1 ranked Buckeyes. It was a game that altered the college football and BCS landscape.

Michigan State was a 27.5-point underdog entering the game but the win over Ohio State, coupled with a late-season UCLA loss to Miami at the Orange Bowl, paved the way for Bobby Bowden’s one-loss Florida State Seminoles to reach the inaugural BCS Championship Game against the Tennessee Volunteers.

During his time in East Lansing from 1995-99, Saban compiled a 2-1 record against the Buckeyes. After the 1998 win in Columbus, he led the Spartans to a 23-7 victory over Ohio State the following year in his final season at Michigan State in 1999.

Alabama football 2024 schedule

Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide (8-2) head to Norman to face the Oklahoma Sooners (5-5) at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Saturday. The Crimson Tide are ranked No. 7 in this week’s CFP rankings and Top 25 polls. The Sooners fell 30-23 to Missouri in their last game on Nov. 9 in Columbia.

Kickoff for Alabama-Oklahoma is set for 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ABC, with the broadcast crew of Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit calling the action.

CBS Sports analyst explains why he’s taking Indiana over Ohio State

One CBS Sports analyst is taking the Indiana Hoosiers over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday. Here’s his explanation as to why.

Ohio State football will welcome the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers to Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Saturday. The game is being featured as part of FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff series.

That said, the Buckeyes are widely seen across betting markets as a double-digit favorite, but CBS Sports’ analyst Aaron Taylor isn’t buying the hype as he’s taking the Hoosiers to win outright.

Why would he go for the upset?

Well, he outlines his points below, but the most notable reason is that he believes the Hoosiers defensive line will abuse the Buckeyes offensive line. Ohio State’s starting center, Seth McLaughlin going down for the season with an Achilles tear during practice certainly won’t help to argue against Taylor.

The Buckeyes have used their offensive line to their advantage numerous times throughout the season, and in their only top-five win, they stuffed the ball down Penn State’s throat late in the game.

Ohio State may not have that capability against Indiana on Saturday. While no one can predict the future, Taylor’s rationale at least makes sense, so let’s hope the Buckeyes offensive line can hold strong in this primetime battle.

Defensive back visiting Ohio State this weekend

Defensive back visiting Ohio State this weekend #GoBucks

Ohio State football is still working on the 2025 recruiting class and an interesting prospect has scheduled a visit to Columbus, Ohio this weekend. Aydan West is a three-star cornerback from the state of Maryland, but is currently committed to become a Michigan State Spartan.

The Buckeyes are hoping to flip the commitment of the impressive athlete as he will be in attendance to watch a top five match-up as OSU will be playing the Indiana Hoosiers. West has been committed to Michigan State since June, but as we know recruiting can be fickle and that is even more true today with the emergence of NIL.

The Maryland product is still being recruited by a number of schools including Virginia Tech. This weekend will no doubt be a big one for Ohio State in regard to recruiting and swaying another talented corner to this class would be huge for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State football could get key weapon back in time for Indiana matchup

Ohio State football has one of the most lethal offenses in the country, and it may get a key weapon back for its battle with Indiana.

The Ohio State Buckeyes will welcome the No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers to Ohio Stadium on Saturday for a top-five showdown, and they are likely getting back a key tight end who should amplify their offense.

Ryan Day said that Will Kacmarek is likely to play Saturday in the primetime battle. Kacmarek has been out since sustaining an upper body injury against Oregon several weeks ago.

Day said with some kind of certainty via Eleven Warriors’ Chase Brown.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end transferred from Ohio, where he spent the last three seasons.

He totaled over 240 receiving yards in both the last two seasons and had five receptions for 58 yards prior to his injury against Oregon. In that game, he did have a pivotal catch for 32 yards.

With the offensive line being banged up, having another big body in there that is capable of blocking and also being a safety net for Will Howard will be helpful.

The Buckeyes battle with Indiana kicks off at noon ET and will be on FOX. ESPN’s College Gameday will also be present in what should be the banner matchup for college football this weekend.
