Notre Dame does indeed flip former Iowa OL commit after official visit

A fast flip for the Irish

There was plenty of smoke surrounding 2025 in-state offensive lineman [autotag]Cameron Herron[/autotag]’s interest for Notre Dame.

The Indianapolis native committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes in late June of this year, but it didn’t seem like the Irish’s were interested. That all changed as the season began, as the 6-foot, 3-inch and 275-pound lineman made an official visit to South Bend this weekend.

Being on hand for a blowout victory over Stanford showed the nation’s No. 473 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings all he needed, as Herron flipped his commitment to the Irish on Monday morning.

With the in-state star joining Notre Dame’s 2025 class, they now have 22 commits. Herron is the only interior offensive lineman, which fills a need for the Irish. The group is ranked as the No. 13 in the country according to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings.

Notre Dame’s coaching staff has been working on more than a few other flip candidates as well, so it looks like they aren’t done cooking.

Notre Dame is in great position to flip a Big Ten 2025 in-state commitment

The Irish could soon flip the Big Ten commit

As had been reported late last week, in-state 2025 offensive lineman [autotag]Cameron Herron[/autotag] was taking an official visit to South Bend to see Notre Dame host Stanford.

The Irish are pretty straightforward when it comes to recruiting, when they bring in a local star later in the process, the intentions are simple. Get this young man to stay home and play for the Blue and Gold.

While Herron is committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes, it didn’t stop the 6-foot, 3-inch and 275-pounder to visit his home state school. It seems like the short trip went extremely well, as on Sunday night On3’s Steve Wiltfong put in a prediction for the nation’s No. 473 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings to flip to Notre Dame.

Herron fits everything that the Irish are looking for in a prospect, strong academically (he also has offers from Duke and Northwestern) and athletically. Hopefully the lineman flips his commitment and stays home to play for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame will host in-state offensive lineman committed to Iowa today

A flip candidate is on campus today

Notre Dame football is extremely picky when recruiting inside its home state of Indiana, but it seems like they have found another prospect that fits what they are looking for.

Indianapolis offensive lineman [autotag]Cameron Herron[/autotag], who is currently committed to Iowa, will be on campus for an official visit according to a report by On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

The 6-foot, 3-inch and 275-pound interior lineman is ranked as the country’s No. 473 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. While Herron’s ranking doesn’t seem like it will move the needle, the Hawkeyes, like the Irish, have a great eye for recruiting offensive lineman.

This visit shouldn’t surprise anyone, as the need for an interior lineman in the class is fairly obvious.

The Irish currently have only tackles committed in the 2025 class on the offensive line, so adding a prospect on the inside makes plenty of sense when looking at the construct of the group.

Hopefully Herron, like in-state athlete Brandon Logan, realizes that everything he wants to accomplish at the collegiate level can be done closer to home in South Bend.

Report: Notre Dame will officially host 2025 top-100 Florida Gators commit

The Irish are trying to flip one of the nation’s best

It is truly flip season in college football, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are right in the thick of it.

Some of the flips have gone their way, while others haven’t, but that hasn’t stopped Marcus Freeman from trying to assemble the best class he possibly can in the 2025 cycle.

One of those flip targets is Florida defensive line commit [autotag]Jalen Wiggins[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 4-inch and 225-pounder is ranked as the nation’s No. 94 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings has scheduled an official visit to South Bend when the Irish host Florida State according to a report by Tom Loy.

While Notre Dame does currently have five commits on the defensive line, none of them have the pedigree that Wiggins has. Getting an elite talent at the position goes a long way to impacting a game, and the Irish will do everything in their power to complete the flip.

247Sports predicts where star 2025 linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng ends up

Let’s hope they are correct

One of Notre Dame football’s biggest remaining recruiting class of 2025 targets is linebacker [autotag]Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng[/autotag].

The brother of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah did include the Irish in his top-6 that he released last month, as he officially visited in early June. He’s made trips to all of his top contenders, and it seems like a matter of time before NOB makes a decision.

On Thursday a 247Sports panel handicapped the race for his commitment (subscription required), and it looks like there could be some good news for Notre Dame in the future. Of the five that took part in this prediction, only one, Brice Marich, a Michigan insider, picked against the Irish.

Tom Loy, Eric Thomas and Gerard Martinez all believe that Owusu-Boateng will ultimately select Notre Dame, while Hank South couldn’t make a decision between the Irish and Wolverines.

I’ll take those odds for Notre Dame to land the nation’s No. 76 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. With a visit scheduled for November to South Bend, the Irish could put themselves in the drivers seat for his verbal.

Ben Davis High School senior Thomas Gotkowski (3) is hit by IMG Academy High School junior Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng (11) as he runs the ball out of the backfield during the first half of an IHSAA varsity football game, Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at Ben Davis High School.

Report: Notre Dame will host SMU wide receiver commit this weekend

Is another flip coming for the Irish?

It’s safe to say it is flip season in college football recruiting, with Notre Dame football already having been part of the highs and low.

The Irish have flipped a few like safety Brandon Logan and cornerback Antavious Richardson, but have seen a few get flipped like quarterback Deuce Knight, and safety Ivan Taylor.

It’s a rollercoaster of emotions at his point of the recruiting calendar, and Notre Dame is trying to take advantage of it. While SMU has gotten off to a 5-1 hot start also with a win over Louisville, it seems like they are a program on the rise.

However, the Irish are one of the few programs that have national pull, and they’re using it to try and lure wide receiver [autotag]Jalen Cooper[/autotag] away from the Mustangs. A visit to South Bend this weekend on deck according to this report by Rivals Marshall Levenson, an opportunity to flip his commitment. The 6-foot, 1-inch and 165-pound pass catcher is a 4-star, ranking as the No. 250 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman questions a call by an official during a NCAA college football game between Notre Dame and Louisville at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, in South Bend.

Notre Dame currently has two wide receiver commits, Jerome Bettis Jr. and Elijah Burress, and it’s been pretty clear they want a third. Logan could play there as well, but it looks like he’ll start his career on the defensive side of the ball.

Hopefully this coming weekend’s trip shows Cooper all he needs and eventually joins the Irish 2025 recruiting class.

Notre Dame football loses another 2025 commit, its second of the week

The Irish are having a bad recruiting week

The bad news regarding Notre Dame Fighting Irish football’s 2025 recruiting class continued on Thursday evening.

Earlier in the week, the Irish saw its only quarterback commit, [autotag]Deuce Knight[/autotag], flip his verbal and end up closer to home with the Auburn Tigers. While this move was expected, running back [autotag]Daniel Anderson[/autotag]’s decision on Thursday night to also leave the class was much more of a shock.

The 5-foot, 11-inch and 200-pound Arkansas native had committed to the Irish over year ago, in late September of 2023. It’s odd that Anderson came to this conclusion, as his social media has been very favorable for the Irish.

The nation’s No. 582 overall recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings had not announced any new offers since his final high school season began, so an immediate flip isn’t likely in the cards. With Anderson leaving the class, it leaves Notre Dame with just one commit at the position, [autotag]Justin Thurman[/autotag].

Micah Shrewsberry talks Notre Dame recruiting strategy with CBS Sports

Great job, Coach.

Notre Dame men’s basketball just had a recruiting week most programs only can dream of. Four commits since the beginning of last week, including new all-time highest-rated recruit [autotag]Jalen Haralson[/autotag], have propelled the Irish to the top of 247Sports’ recruiting rankings for the 2025 class.

Isaac Trotter of CBS Sports took notice of this and decided to reach out to [autotag]Micah Shrewsberry[/autotag] for some insights as part of a feature story about the Irish. Faced with a rebuild upon arriving to the program, Shrewsberry opted to hone in on high school recruiting as opposed to other programs that increasingly looked towards the transfer portal.

Shrewsberry focused on high school recruits almost out of necessity with the transfer portal about to lose the players who were granted an extra year of eligibility by COVID-19. But even taking that out of the equation, he now has the luxury of RALLY, Notre Dame’s new NIL collective, to keep players around.

When asked how this year’s Irish were able to keep almost all of their top scorers from a season ago, Shrewsberry said this:

“I think our guys believed in what we were doing, but they also believed in their teammates and the guys who were going to be their teammates. They could see the positives throughout last season and what we could look like going forward.”

The future in South Bend looks very bright, and it all has to do with the culture Shrewsberry is building. You can’t put a price on that.

Notre Dame has unofficial visit with top 2026 women’s hoops recruit

A positive first step in the Irish’s pursuit of her.

The Notre Dame women’s basketball team is primed for a great season. But as promising as the present looks, preparing for the future is the best way to know whether the program will thrive. If one certain thing goes the Irish’s way, that future will look extremely promising.

Kate Harpring, an Atlanta native and the daughter of 11-year NBA veteran Matt Harpring, is the top-rated player in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports. As of right now, the Irish have not made her an offer unlike seven other programs.

However, there is hope that Harpring could don the blue and gold someday. She took to social media to announce that she made an unofficial visit to the Irish. While there obviously is a long way to go before she decides to take her talents to South Bend, images like the following can’t help but make one excited about the possibility:

Best of luck to Harpring in her college search, but let’s pray that she picks the Irish.

2026 Notre Dame quarterback commit reemphasizes commitment to program

Does this make you feel better?

The news that 2025 Notre Dame quarterback commit Deuce Knight was flipping to Auburn understandably isn’t sitting well with many Irish fans. Not only was Knight their highest-rated commit in that recruiting class, but he was the only quarterback. And while some 247Sports top 100 2025 quarterback recruits remain uncommitted, none have better than a three-star rating.

The good news for Irish fans is that the program still has one quarterback commit, and that’s [autotag]Noah Grubbs[/autotag] in the 2026 class. Even better, Irish fans don’t have to worry about him going anywhere, at least for now.

Undoubtedly prompted by the Knight news, Grubbs took to social media to reiterate his commitment to the Irish. While Irish fans will have to wait a year longer for him to arrive, they can sleep easy knowing the quarterback commit cupboard is not completely bare. If anything, this should make Grubbs even more admirable in the eyes of the fan base:

So yes, the Knight news hurts. But this post should at least inspire some confidence in the future.
