Florida makes top 13 for 4-star IMG Academy linebacker

Florida made the first cut for one of the top linebackers in the class of 2025, IMG Academy’s Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng.

Florida’s connection with IMG Academy has stayed strong since the start of the Billy Napier era, and the latest blue-chip recruit from the in-state powerhouse to show interest in Florida is four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, who narrowed his options down to 13 on Sunday.

The Gators join Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford, South Carolina, Texas and USC in Owusu Boateng’s top 13, according to 247Sports.

He has official visits set up to three of those schools — South Carolina on May 31, Stanford on June 7 and Georgia on June 14. IMG Academy is only 198 miles away from the University of Florida, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get him back on campus, if not a few times.

Recruiting Summary

Owusu-Boateng is a consensus four-star recruit, ranked the highest by Rivals.com at No. 24 overall in the class of 2025. The On3 industry ranking puts him at No. 62 nationally and No. 4 among linebackers in his class, while the 247Sports composite has him slightly lower at Nos. 69 and 9, respectively.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine favors Florida with 27.9% odds to land a commitment from him, but South Carolina (19.6%), Georgia (12.7%) and Miami (10.6%) are still in the race, too.

Four-star IMG Academy recruit gets live look at new Florida LB coach

Four-star IMG Academy linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng visited UF recently and got a live look at the Gators’ new linebackers coach.

Like any serious recruit, IMG Academy linebacker [autotag]Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng[/autotag] wants to know more about the coaches in place to develop him at the universities he’s still considering.

At the University of Florida, that would be Ron Roberts, who the football program hired as an executive head coach, co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach over the offseason. Owusu-Boateng visited the Swamp for one of Roberts’ first weekend of spring practices.

The experience was an eye-opening one for the linebacker, according to Swamp247.

“I was seeing the way Coach Roberts does things with his linebackers,” Owusu-Boateng said to Swamp247. “Not only that, but seeing the way he interacts and the way they interact with him as well. It tells me a lot just about his coaching or about his leadership, and how he sees his linebackers being fit for the scheme he has for them.”

Owusu-Boateng got a chance to see where he’d fit in Florida’s scheme and how those practices would run. Should he sign with UF, Owusu-Boatgeng is likely to spend time at both the MIKE and WILL linebacker positions in Gainesville.

A return visit isn’t on the books just yet, but an official visit might be in the works. Right now, he has summer dates locked in with Georgia, Stanford and South Carolina. An official visit to Florida might have to wait until the season begins.

Owusu-Boateng is a consensus four-star recruit ranked the highest by Rivals.com at No. 24 overall in the class of 2025. The On3 industry ranking, which considers all four major services, puts him at No. 59 nationally and No. 5 among linebackers in the class.

Report: Brother of former Notre Dame star to visit this weekend

Will it run in the family for the Irish?

When former Notre Dame linebacker [autotag]Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah[/autotag] dropped out of the first round of the NFL draft, many were surprised.

He had a great career for the Irish and looked every bit like a player who should have been selected on day one. Now, many teams regret their decision, as he has been one of the best defenders on a stout Cleveland Browns team. The connection will surely help Notre Dame with his brother, [autotag]Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng[/autotag], a 2025 linebacker.

The 6-foot, 2-inch and 205-pounder is set for a weekend visit to South Bend according to this report by 247Sports Brian Dohn (subscription required), and will conclude his trips this month by going on shorter trip to in-state Miami (FL).

Owusu-Boateng is one of the best prospects in the country, ranking as the No. 6 linebacker and 53rd overall prospect nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. It’s clear that Notre Dame would love it if he followed in his brothers footsteps.

Report: Notre Dame football to host linebacker with a familiar name

Most Irish fans remember this name

Back in 2020, [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] had one of the most imposing linebackers in the country, [autotag]Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah[/autotag].

He won the Butkus Award that season, before getting drafted by the Cleveland Browns. Owusu-Koramoah isn’t the only big time athlete in his family, however. 2025 linebacker [autotag]Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng[/autotag], his younger brother, is also very good prospect.

The 6-foot, 2-inch and 205-pound linebacker is ranked fourth at his position and 32nd overall on the 247Sports composite.

Owusu-Boateng’s interest in Notre Dame is high as well. In a report by 247Sports Steve Wiltfong (subcription required), the IMG Academy linebacker said he wants to visit South Bend at some point this fall.

Owusu-Boateng told Wiltfong that his brother’s experience is South Bend helps him know the program and head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] “is a great coach.”

This is a good place to be in for his recruitment, but there is still a long way to go.

Florida football still pushing hard for blue-chip IMG Academy LB

There’s still plenty of time before the prospect’s final decision but the Gators are relentless in their pursuit of this IMG Academy LB standout.

Billy Napier and Co. continue their tireless work on the recruiting trail, including linebackers coach Jay Bateman who has been pounding the pavement on behalf of the Orange and Blue.

Among the targets Bateman has singled out is four-star linebacker [autotag]Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng[/autotag], who originally hails from his home state Manassas, Virginia, but currently attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. In addition to the fact that they come from the same area, the two appear to have forged a strong relationship through their discussions.

“Great guy, great coach,” Owusu-Boateng told Gators Online. “Since Aug. 1, he’s showing me that Florida is a school. And just letting me know I can come there and play the will position. I can blitz the quarterback, be out in coverage and just make plays.”

The 6-foot-2-inch and 210-pound defender has visited campus twice including a stop in June and has come away with a strong sense of family — a recurring theme for Napier’s program.

“Honestly, I just love the brotherhood there,” Owusu-Boateng offered. “And what Coach Napier is now building. Going there in June, just like stepping foot there, everybody shows you love. The trainers, the coaches. Everyone.”

When asked if Florida is among the schools pushing hardest for him, he simply answered, “Yes sir, they are.”

However, the high school junior is far from making his decision.

“Right now, everybody is equal-based,” he said. “Since it’s early for me, I don’t really have any schools at the top of my list but I have some schools that are showing me more love.”

Owusu-Boateng is ranked No. 33 overall and No. 4 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 27 and 3, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Florida with a 31.3% chance of signing him, followed by Miami (27.4%), Ohio State (12.3%) and South Carolina (10.3%).
