Notre Dame trending on adding 2026 4-star Florida quarterback Noah Grubbs

The Irish could be adding another elite talent to their quarterback room

One of the biggest differences in Notre Dame football’s recent recruiting success has been its pursuit of quarterbacks.

Head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] has put a major emphasis on stacking talent in that room, and has done a great job in doing so. The 2024 team might be the deepest the unit has been in a very long time, as starter Riley Leonard and his backup Steve Angeli are proven, while CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey bring tons of potential to the table.

As for the 2025 class, Deuce Knight is firmly committed and now the Irish seem to be leading the recruitment of 2025 Florida quarterback [autotag]Noah Grubbs[/autotag]. On3’s Steve Wiltfong made a prediction on Monday morning that the 6-foot, 4-inch and 190-pound signal caller would eventually commit to Notre Dame.

This would be a huge recruiting win for the Irish, as Grubbs also holds offers from other big time schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Colorado, Penn State and others.

Notre Dame football adds elite 2025 in-state cornerback

Another big-time member to the secondary is heading to South Bend

Notre Dame football did not have to travel for to recruit in-state cornerback [autotag]Mark Zackery IV[/autotag].

The Indianapolis native has long held the Irish in high regard during his recruitment and that paid off on Saturday as the 5-foot, 11-inch and 165-pound corner verbally committed to Notre Dame.

Zackery becomes commitment No. 22 for the Irish in the 2025 class, as it continues to be the top collection in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.

Notre Dame now has commitments from three of the nations top secondary members, as Zackery, who is ranked as the No. 135 prospect and 15th cornerback in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

There isn’t much room left in the 2025 class for Notre Dame, so they have to make sure any commitment they take going forward is a player they really want. Zackery fits that mold.

West Virginia, Notre Dame relishing being back at NCAA Men’s Golf Championship after long postseason droughts

A couple of long postseason droughts ended this year.

CARLSBAD, Calif. — It has been nearly 10 years to the day since Sean Covich took over the head men’s golf coaching job at West Virginia. The position the program was in then compared to now couldn’t have been more polar opposites.

Covich was hired May 22, 2014, to be the Mountaineers’ head coach. West Virginia was reinstating its golf team, and Covich was tasked with growing the program from nothing.

“They handed me a sheet of paper and said, ‘You’re the golf coach,'” Covich said. “I didn’t have an office. Didn’t have any players. Nowhere to practice.”

West Virginia last competed in men’s golf in 1982. Covich took over, and the team began playing in the 2015-16 season. However, this year, the Mountaineers reached a new peak: making the NCAA Championship.

West Virginia made the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship this year for the first time in 77 years and only the second time in program history. In addition, Notre Dame also made NCAAs for the first time since 1966, breaking a drought older than the coach’s at each school.

The response for Covich and Notre Dame coach John Handrigan have been incredible.

“It’s been wild, like gosh, I didn’t even know this many people paid attention,” Covich said. “My phone blew up.”

West Virginia shot 22 over during a difficult morning wave of scoring Friday in the opening round, but Covich said the start was easier to process considering all of the family and friends who were walking the canyons of Carlsbad sporting Mountaineer colors.

After advancing through regionals, Covich said the alumni and donors showed incredible support, but it was the messages from his coaching fraternity that meant the most. Messages from national championship winning coaches, top-ranked teams and conference foes came in.

“Those are the kind of messages that really mean a ton to me,” Covich said.

Handrigan said he wasn’t aware of how long it had been since Notre Dame had made nationals. He said John Anthony, a former player, pulled parents aside after the Fighting Irish punched their ticket to Omni La Costa, and told them that the team hadn’t been to the national championship since most of them had been alive.

“I didn’t know that at the time,” Handrigan said. “That’s when I knew we did something special.”

The Fighting Irish sit at 8 over after the opening round, having the second-best performance of teams who teed off in the morning wave.

Handrigan said his team, which features two freshmen in the starting lineup, has embraced playing on the biggest stage.

Even he had a hard time keeping up with messages from alums, boosters and fans. Notre Dame athletic director Peter Bevacqua is the former CEO of the PGA of America, so there’s plenty of love for the golf team’s success back in South Bend.

“He’s at the lacrosse final four right now,” Handrigan said. “He told me he really wants to see us out here competing next week.

“I look forward to seeing him here.”

247Sports answers if Notre Dame is a contender or pretender for the College Football Playoff

Are the Irish contenders or pretenders to make the CFP?

With so much time before the seasons starts, many are wondering how Notre Dame football will fare this coming season.

The goals are obvious, make the College Football Playoff, which head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] has yet to accomplish. 247Sports looked at multiple teams and decided if they were CFP contenders or pretenders.

Brad Crawford’s tone seemed at first like he was leaning on the Irish being a pretender, but he ends by saying that you should be “buying stock in this team now.” He cites the strong returning defense along with the impact that newly hired offensive coordinator [autotag]Mike Denbrock[/autotag] will have on the offense.

With the season less than 100 days away, will will soon know which side the Irish will lean to in 2024.

Notre Dame’s legendary softball head coach Deanna Gumpf is retiring

Thank you coach Gumpf!

For the last 23 seasons, Notre Dame softball has been coached by [autotag]Deanna Gumpf[/autotag], as she has complied an impressive record of 882-392.

Unfortunately for the Irish, Gumpf has announced that she will be stepping away from coaching and retiring. A streak of 21-seasons where Notre Dame made the NCAA Tournament along with being the winningest coach in any sport in Irish history will leave massive shoes to fill.

Her final season wasn’t the way that she wanted to go out, as the Irish struggled to a 27-23 record and an 8th place tie in the ACC. Gumpf will be remembered for having 13 seasons with over 40 wins as well.

Cam Hart explains how Notre Dame football prepared him for the NFL

The Irish do a great job of preparing their players for the next level

One of the biggest aspects of a high school players decision to go a school it getting to the NFL and for Notre Dame, there is plenty of data to back up getting to the next level.

Adding more fuel to the fire was cornerback Cam Hart, as he met with the media during the NFL combine. When asked why he felt so prepared, it was all about the Irish coaches.

Hart mentioned defensive backs coach Mike Mickens and defensive coordinator Al Golden for getting him prepared for the next level and even the Senior Bowl.

Notre Dame football offers 2026 Virginia athlete

The Irish offer an impressive two-way Virginia athlete

As one of the few schools across the country that have national recruiting pull, Notre Dame football isn’t afraid to offer any prospect in any region.

The point was made once again on Wednesday morning, as the Irish offered 2026 Virginia athlete [autotag]Conner Salmin[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 1-inch and 190-pound prospect isn’t currently ranked by any major service, but his offer list shows that he will be once the rankings are update.

Notre Dame joined Georgia, Penn State, North Carolina and others in offering Salmin, who could play either cornerback or wide receiver at the next level. Reading between the lines of the offer, since wide receivers coach Mike Brown was tagged, he is most likely being recruited as a receiver.

The Irish have just one current commit for the class, Dylan Faison, brother of Jordan, who is playing for a Lacrosse championship this weekend.

Watch: Notre Dame football commit show off videos previewed official visits

Great work done by the Irish social media team

Official visit season is starting to approach and Notre Dame football commits showed off their personalized videos of when they will visit.

Although they won’t all be making the trip at the same time, the Irish social media team did a great job of creating a short video for the recruits to share for when they will make their officials to South Bend.

It’s a small gesture, but an important one, especially considering how important social media has become in their lives. The 21 commits all will surely make the visits, as long as nothing changes between now and when they will arrive on campus.

As they have done recently since [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] took over the program, the social media team has once again has shown they are one, if not the best, in the country.
