Following his ugly injury, Chubb underwent a successful knee surgery on Sept. 29, 2023 for his media capsule, meniscus and media collateral ligament (MCL). Later, Chubb underwent another successful surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on Nov. 14, 2023.

Now, Chubb is back in the weight room in preparation for the 2024 NFL season. Chubb still does not have a timetable for his recovery, but he’s clearly making some impressive progress.

“What happened to Nick (Chubb) last year was very unfortunate. He had no desire to be anywhere besides Cleveland,” said Cleveland Browns General Manager Andrew Berry. “We had no desire for that to be the last snap that he would take in a Cleveland Browns jersey. And just, quite honestly, he’s the heartbeat and pulse of our team.”

“He’s a selfless individual,” added Berry. “He works hard… coming into the year, I had a respect level for Nick Chubb that was a 10 out of 10. And coming out of the season, it was probably a 20 out of 10 because this was a person who came in every day — 5:30 a.m. doing his rehab modalities — working as if he was preparing for Sunday. I think that says something about him individually and as a professional.”

Nick Chubb has 6,511 rushing yards and 52 total touchdowns during his six season NFL career. Chubb is a four-time Pro Bowl selection.

It is unclear when Chubb will try to return from his injury. The Cleveland Browns star successfully recovered from a serious leg injury during his Georgia career. Now, Chubb is trying to do it again in 2024.

“One of the moments we’re all most looking forward to is the first time he runs out of that home tunnel for his debut in the 2024 season,” said Berry.

He’s an incredible human being first and foremost. What kid still goes back to their high school weight room, strength coach, program, track and works out the way he does? It’s very rare in the sports world to find someone as humble and just a great person like he is.

Nick Chubb is one of the lowest maintenance superstars in the NFL. Kirby Smart noted that he did reach out to Nick Chubb after his serious injury.

I reached out to him. I know he’s probably flooded with all kinds of (messages) and people reaching out to him, so no expectation of anything in return. Just a lot of respect for him and what he did for this program in terms of toughness, buy-in, and giving back.

Tons of Nick Chubb’s former teammates and athletes across the NFL and NBA prayed for Chubb after his leg injury.

Smart and Georgia associate athletic director of sports medicine Ron Courson both think that Nick Chubb will be able to make a full recovery.

I talked to Ron (Courson) about it today, and I think he’ll make a full recovery and bounce back. That’s just who he is so he’ll be ready to get back after it.

If Nick Chubb could return from his latest serious leg injury, then he would be nearing uncharted territory.

Former UGA RB Nick Chubb cares about winning, not your fantasy team

Cleveland Browns and former Georgia Bulldog running back Nick Chubb ran out of bounds instead of risking a potential comeback loss.

The Cleveland Browns gave former Georgia Bulldog running back Nick Chubb the ball with the game on the line. Nick Chubb did not let Cleveland down.

On third-and-3, with a little more than a minute to go Nick Chubb took a toss play outside the hash marks, made a man miss and he was off to the races. Nobody was catching Nick Chubb, but that didn’t stop him from going out of bounds at the 1-yard line instead of scoring a touchdown.

Chubb knew the game’s situation well. If he scored, then Cleveland would be up 17-7, but the Houston Texans would’ve gotten the ball back. Sure, Houston would’ve needed multiple scores in under a minute, but NFL fans saw some crazy things this past week including a Hail Mary catch by DeAndre Hopkins.

Instead of scoring, Chubb put his team first and ran the ball out of bounds. Cleveland kneeled a few times and won 10-7. Here’s the play where Nick Chubb ripped out the clutch run to put the game away:

Chubb’s fantasy managers will be upset, but Nick Chubb cares about winning, not about fantasy sports. Chubb was happy to return from injury and improve Cleveland’s playoff hopes. The Browns are 6-3 overall and will look to lean on Nick Chubb moving forward.

Former Georgia Bulldogs star and current Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb will return for Cleveland this week. Chubb will provide a boost to the Browns, who need him in order to attempt to make the postseason.

Nick Chubb is returning to action following a right MCL sprain he suffered in Cleveland’s Week 4 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Chubb is averaging an impressive 5.9 yards per carry on the season. Fantasy football managers with Chubb on their roster will be happy to see him return. Despite his recent injury, Chubb is a must-start player in all formats. Chubb’s return reduces the value of Cleveland running back Kareem Hunt. Look for Hunt to continue to have a significant role in the passing game.

Cleveland is currently 5-3 overall. The Browns went 2-2 without Nick Chubb and will need him to defeat the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon. The Browns are in the mix in the AFC’s playoff hunt. The NFL’s expanded postseason gives the Browns a better chance to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
