Ravens make six roster moves ahead of Week 18 vs. Bengals

The Ravens made six roster moves prior to Week 18 vs. the Cincinnati Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens are preparing for Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals.  The Ravens need a win to go along with a Los Angeles Charges win and a win of a coin flip to host a Wild Card playoff game after new rules were put in place following the scary situation with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

The team made six roster moves prior to Sunday’s game, with multiple involving big names. Baltimore waived veteran tight end Nick Boyle and wide receiver DeSean Jackson, elevated quarterback Brett Hundley and defensive tackle Rayshad Nichols from the practice squad, and activated wide receiver Tylan Wallace and cornerback Daryl Worley from injured reserve.

The waiving of tight end Nick Boyle seemed inevitable.  His playing time has been significantly less this year and he hasn’t been the same player since before suffering a significant leg injury during the 2020 season.  The fifth-rounder out of Delaware was drafted by the Ravens in the 2015 NFL Draft. Known for his blocking skills, in 90 career games, Boyle had a total of 121 receptions for 1049 receiving yards and four total touchdowns.

Ravens announce inactives for Week 14 matchup vs. Steelers

The Ravens announced their inactive players for Week 14 against the Steelers

The Baltimore Ravens are in Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers in Week 14. Starting for the Ravens will be Tyler Huntley, and he’ll be going against rookie Kenny Pickett for the Steelers.  Reports have states that starting quarterback Lamar Jackson could be out for the next two weeks, setting up a potential return on Christmas Eve at home against the Atlanta Falcons.

The inactives list for Week 14 were announced by the team shortly before kickoff, and as expected, Jackson is on the list.  The Ravens get back offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley for this important game, but guard Kevin Zeitler is inactive. Zeitler hasn’t missed a game since 2019, so his knee injury must be tough enough for him to miss this division game.

The good news for Baltimore Ravens is that running back J.K. Dobbins and safety Marcus Williams return to the lineup after long absences. This will be the first time that Dobbins and Gus Edwards have played in the same game together since the 2020 season.

Ravens release first injury report for Week 13 matchup vs. Broncos

The Baltimore Ravens released the first injury report for Week 13.

The Baltimore Ravens return home to face the Denver Broncos in Week 13, looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12.  The Broncos might be disappointing this season, but they still have an elite pass defense and will look to find answers during the contest.

Baltimore released their first injury report for their Week 13 matchup with Denver on Wednesday. Quarterback Lamar Jackson was limited last week with a hip injury, but so far this week he was limited with a quad issue. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey missed a few snaps in Week 12 with an ankle injury, and was limited during Wednesday’s practice Tight end Nick Boyle as well as offensive linemen Daniel Faalele and Patrick Mekari missed the session with illnesses.

Tight end Isaiah Likely, offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and safety Kyle Hamilton all returned to practice after missing Week 12, a good sign for all three after logging a limited session each. Defensive end Calais Campbell, outside linebacker Justin Houston and cornerback Marcus Peters all had rest days.

Ravens TE Isaiah Likely downgraded to out for Week 12 vs. Jaguars

Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely has been downgraded to out for Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Baltimore Ravens travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars in Week 12 of the 2022 season.  It was announced earlier in the week that cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley would be out for the game, but another player has since joined them in not suiting up for the contest.

Rookie tight end Isaiah Likely won’t travel with the team as his status was downgraded to out on Saturday. Likely wasn’t on the injury report until Friday, when he made his appearance on the list with an ankle injury that limited him in practice.

Without Likely, it’s possible that fellow rookie tight end Charlie Kolar could make his NFL and season debut. Even though Likely is extremely talented, the Baltimore tight end department won’t have to worry about a lack of depth at the position without Likely, as the team still has veterans Mark Andrews, Nick Boyle, and Josh Oliver on the roster along with Kolar.

Ravens TE Josh Oliver continuing to impress in larger role

Ravens tight end Josh Oliver is impressing in a larger role

Going into the 2022 season, the Baltimore Ravens tight end position was overflowing with talent. The team had Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle to go along with rookies Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar. Josh Oliver seemed like the odd man out in the room, but has shown his perseverance of working hard and doing what he could to make the team and thriving in an increased role.

Oliver’s teammates and coaches have been impressed with what the tight end has achieved as well and are giving him his flowers. Before Baltimore’s Week 11 matchup with the Carolina Panthers, offensive coordinator Greg Roman was asked about Oliver and couldn’t say enough good things about him.

“First of all, I have to say Josh [Oliver] just flat out won a job; he won a roster spot in training camp. It was definitely not a sure thing, and he just won it. For him to not be on the team for us would have been ridiculous with how he was improving. So, he’s a classic example of someone who came into training camp, looked at the depth chart and said, ‘Wow, they have a lot of tight ends.’ He just made us put him on the team, and he continues to make us play him. As far as his blocking, it is so much improved from a year ago, probably as much as any player I’ve ever worked with over one year’s time. It’s a credit to him. I definitely think teams that are getting ready to play us around the league, they’re probably … I can envision them watching us and looking at him saying, ‘Holy cow, who is this guy?’ and then they start shuffling through their papers to dig down on him because he’s doing an excellent job. We want to continue that trend.”

Oliver has made the most of his time as a Raven this season.  He’s been solid at blocking and has made plays when called upon in the receiving game as well. He’s stepped up in the absence of injured players, and the front office appears to have gotten another underrated high-impact player via trade, sending just a 7th-round selection to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for him during the 2021 offseason.

Ravens announce inactives for Week 2 vs. Dolphins

The Ravens announced inactives for their Week 2 matchup with the Dolphins

The Baltimore Ravens will take on the Miami Dolphins at M&T Bank Stadium in their 2022 home opener. The Ravens suffered numerous injuries last season to key contributors before the year even began. However, one of those players will make his 2022 season debut on Sunday.

Baltimore released their inactives list for their Week 2 matchup with Miami, featuring a host of big names. Most of the players listed had a “questionable” tag on the team’s final injury report of the week on Friday. The Ravens have opted to take the cautious with some of their talent.

After speaking with the media earlier in the week and looking like he may suit up, Baltimore has decided to rest running back J.K. Dobbbins. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury during the 2021 preseason. The team also announced that offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, tight end Nick Boyle, wide receiver James Proche II, defensive tackle Travis Jones and cornerback Brandon Stephens will miss Week 2. However, the Ravens will be getting back star cornerback Marcus Peters after he missed all of 2021 with a torn ACL. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey will also suit up against the Dolphins after he was listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report.

The Dolphins also announced their inactives, headlined by running back Myles Gaskin.

Ravens release second injury report for Week 2 matchup vs. Dolphins

The Baltimore Ravens released their second injury report on Thursday ahead of their Week 2 matchup vs. the Miami Dolphins.

The Baltimore Ravens will play in their 2022 home opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in Week 2. The Ravens will look to get their second win against an AFC East opponent, but it could come with some key players not suiting up.

Baltimore released their second injury report of the week on Thursday ahead of their matchup with the Dolphins. The Ravens had nine players listed on the report, with more than half of them not participating in practice on Thursday.

Players featured on the team’s report were relatively the same from Wednesday aside from tight end Nick Boyle, who was given a day of rest, and defensive end Calais Campbell, who was removed from the list following his day of rest. Those who did not participate in practice on Thursday were wide receiver James Proche II (groin), fullback Patrick Ricard (calf), offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) and defensive back Brandon Stephens (quad).

Players who practiced in full on Thursday were running back J.K. Dobbins (knee), cornerback Marcus Peters (knee) and defensive tackle Travis Jones (knee). All three have a realistic shot of returning to the field on Sunday. Closing out the report is cornerback Marlon Humphrey (groin), who was limited in practice.

If Baltimore is to be without Humphrey, Peters, and/or Stephens, the secondary depth will be tested. Players such as Jalyn Armour-Davis and Pepe Williams might be called upon to play a much bigger role than they did in Week 1.

Ravens announce inactives for Week 1 vs. Jets

The Baltimore Ravens on Sunday announced players not suiting up Week 1 at the New York Jets.

The Baltimore Ravens will take on the New York Jets to open the 2022 season. The team suffered a plethora of injuries in 2021 that saw some players miss some or all of the year, with some of those same names headlining the injury report heading into the team’s season-opener this season.

On Sunday, Baltimore released their inactives list. Many players listed had a “questionable” tag heading into the week, but the Ravens have opted to take the precautious route with some of their talent including running back J.K. Dobbins, offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and cornerback Marcus Peters.

After plenty of optimism leading into the week on both, the Ravens have decided to rest Dobbins and Peters. Both suffered season-ending injuries in 2021 and Baltimore clearly did not feel it was time for them to be back on the field. The team also announced on Saturday that offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (knee) would not be playing in Week 1 and on Friday that Travis Jones (knee) would also not be suiting up. Tight end Nick Boyle and Daniel Faalele will also not play in the season-opener.

The Jets also announced their inactives, headlined by quarterback Zach Wilson.
