Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers meet in Game 6 of a best-of-7 Western Conference 2nd-round series Saturday. The Canucks lead the series 3-2. Puck drop at Rogers Place is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Canucks vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Vancouver is a win away from advancing to the Western Conference Finals after defeating Edmonton in Game 5 3-2, cashing as a (+112) home underdog. C J.T. Miller scored the game winner in the 3rd period, and each game of this series thus far has been decided by 1 goal.

Former Oiler Craig MacTavish writes that Miller, who has been matched up against Edmonton C Connor McDavid, “is big and strong and has a physical advantage over McDavid”. The Edmonton power play failed to score on 5 opportunities in Game 5.

Canucks at Oilers projected goalies

Arturs Silovs (5-3, 2.62 GAA, .907 SV%) vs. Calvin Pickard (1-1, 2.21, .915 SV%)

Silovs, a Latvian national hero, will be cheered on by Canucks fans and “literally everyone” from his home country of nearly 2 million people. The 2019 6th-round pick had dressed in only 9 career games before the postseason. He’s 5-3 with a 2.62 GAA and .907 SV% this postseason.

Pickard was a 2nd-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche back in 2010, and now the veteran journeyman has been asked to step up in the wake of G Stuart Skinner‘s struggles. Vancouver’s power play was 0-for-4 in Game 5, and NHL insider John Shannon called the 32-year-old “the best penalty killer for the Oilers”. He has a 2.21 GAA and .915 SV% in 3 games (2 starts) this postseason.

Canucks at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Canucks 4, Oilers 3

Moneyline

BET CANUCKS (+162).

Home ice has not provided the advantage as road teams are 36-30 this postseason. While unsuccessful in Game 5, the Canucks power play has proven that they can get traffic in front of the net and score, and at this price the suggestion is taking your chances with the plus-money.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

If you are comfortable laying the (-156) juice, backing the Canucks getting the insurance certainly makes sense. Unfortunately, we will not have any immediate potential dance partners for a parlay, as both Florida and Dallas wrapped up their 2nd series matchups Saturday.

Over/Under

BET OVER 6.5 (+102).

This is still an Edmonton team that has McDavid, C Leon Draisaitl, who is riding a 10-game point streak, and 54-goal-scorer LW Zach Hyman. Vancouver certainly has their scoring options, too, and perhaps C Elias Pettersson‘s game will get going after earning the 2nd Star in the Game 5 win. RW Brock Boeser scored 40 goals during the regular season and has registered a point in every game except 1 in this series.

Additionally, this game features the top regular season-scoring defenseman D Quinn Hughes (92 points), while Edmonton’s D Evan Bouchard had the 4th-most points (82) on the back end. While the netminders certainly both have nice stories, and their path to getting this Saturday night playoff start is admirable, these lineups have scoring options all over the roster. So I would rather bank on goals galore at plus-money.

Dallas Stars at Colorado Avalanche Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Dallas Stars at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche square off in Game 6 of their Western Conference 2nd-round series Friday. Puck drop from Ball Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Stars lead series 3-2. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Avalanche odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Stars won 3 consecutive games in this series after an epic Game 1 collapse. The win streak included a pair of victories in the Mile High City in Games 3 and 4 by a combined 9-2 score. Things were rolling along, but Dallas couldn’t finish things off on home ice in Game 5, falling 5-3 Wednesday.

The Avalanche had their season extended by D Cale Makar, who notched 2 goals on 5 shots, including a power-play marker in Wednesday’s victory as the Avs cashed as +132 underdogs. LW Artturi Lehkonen and C Nathan MacKinnon each added a goal and an assist in the win.

The high-scoring ways for Colorado continued in Game 5 as the Over improved to 3-1-1 in this series and 7-2-1 in 10 postseason games for the Avs. They have averaged 2.8 goals per game (GPG) in this series, and 4.2 GPG in the playoffs, while allowing 4.0 GPG to the Stars, and 3.5 GPG total in the postseason.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Stars at Avalanche projected goalies

Jake Oettinger (7-5-0, 2.27 GAA, .914 SV% — 2024 playoffs) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (6-4-0, 3.09 GAA, .890 SV% — 2024 playoffs)

Oettinger was tagged for 5 goals on 27 shots in Game 5 at home, the most goals he has allowed in a single game since inexplicably allowing 6 goals in a 7-6 OTW against the San Jose Sharks on the road back on March 5. He allowed 4 goals in the Game 1 loss in Dallas, bouncing back with 28 saves in the Game 2 victory.

Georgiev kicked aside 23 of the 26 shots in Game 5, and he has made 23 or fewer saves in 3 of the past 5 outings. When tasked with stopping more than 23 shots, he is 0-2 in this series.

Stars at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Stars 2

Moneyline

The AVALANCHE (-120) have a little bit of momentum after the stunning Game 5 win, staving off elimination. Now, Colorado looks to force a decisive Game 7 back in the Metroplex. First things first, though.

The Avalanche have lost both home games in this series to the Stars (+100), so home-ice hasn’t exactly been a certainty. Still, Colorado has found a way to get it back to its place, the home crowd should be able to spur the team on, and it has put the Valeri Nichushkin distraction in the rear-view mirror, or so it seems. The 29-year-old Russian right wing, who had a team-best 9 playoff goals, was suspended for at least 6 months Monday and placed in Stage 3 of the NHL/NHL Players’ Association player assistance program.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Stars +1.5 (-250) are way too expensive on the puck line if you were looking for a little bit of insurance and are a bit conservative and don’t want to bet Dallas straight up.

Over the long haul, risking that type of money for such a small return is not a good betting strategy.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 6 (+100) is a good play in this huge Game 6 in the Mile High City.

While we’ve seen the Over cash at a 3-1-1 pace in this series, the Under is 1-0-1 in the 2 games at Ball Arena. For whatever reason, the Avs offense has fallen flat at home against the Stars, averaging just 1.0 GPG.

Expect to see the Avs paying the price defensively, blocking plenty of shots, while Georgiev is leaned upon to give his best. If Colorado can do more defensively, it will get this series back to Dallas for Game 7, while cashing the Under in the process.

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins meet Friday for Game 6 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 2nd-round series. The Panthers lead the series 3-2. The opening faceoff at TD Garden is slated for 7 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Florida won Games 2, 3 and 4 but then failed to close out this series when it dropped a taut 2-1 contest in Game 5 Tuesday.

Boston coughed up 6 power-play goals over its 3 straight losses. The Bruins were 4 of 4 on the penalty kill in Game 5.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (36-17-4, 2.37 GAA, .915 SV%) vs. Jeremy Swayman (25-10-8, 2.53 GAA, .916 SV%)

Bobrovsky stopped 26 of 28 shots Tuesday. He has started all 5 games in this series and logged an .896 SV%.

Swayman had 28 saves on 29 Florida shots on goal in Game 5. After faltering in Games 2 and 3, he has rebounded to clock a .943 SV% in the last 2 games.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 3, Bruins 2

Moneyline

Per OddsShark, the PANTHERS (-145) are 5-2 across their last 7 games at TD Garden.

Florida is worthy of the edge in what we can expect to be tight, low-scoring, late-series playoff hockey. The Panthers are out-chancing the Bruins and in 8 playoff games have scored 3 goals or more 7 times.

Per Hockey-reference.com, in even-strength play, Florida owns a 60% Corsi number in this series. The Panthers have been held to fewer shots as the series has worn on, but that puck-possession number is worthy of attention. And in 5-on-5 play, Florida shooting just 7.6% for the series has the look of a number ripe for regression.

TAKE THE PANTHERS (-145).

Puck line/Against the spread

Late-series games have been a solid Under in these playoffs, and with these clubs, another 2-1 game or something thereabouts would seem to be in the cards. PASS on sliding the Panthers through with a multi-goal margin.

Over/Under

The Under has cashed in the last 2 games and is the play in this one.

Both teams can defend at a high level (both ranked in the NHL’s top 6 in goals-allowed average during the regular season). Swayman should have a lot of confidence, and the tone of this series looks to be going from loose to tight.

BACK THE UNDER 5.5 (-125).

New York Rangers at Carolina Hurricanes Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s New York Rangers at Carolina Hurricanes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes meet in Game 6 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 2nd-round-series Thursday. The Rangers lead the series 3-2. Puck drop from PNC Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (TNT).  Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Hurricanes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Hurricanes staved off elimination once again Monday, defeating New York 4-1 at Madison Square Garden in Game 5. The Rangers led 1-0 after 40 minutes, but Carolina responded with goals from C Jordan Staal, C Evgeny Kuznetsov and LW Jordan Martinook, as well as RW Martin Necas who scored on an empty net.

Former Hurricanes C Vincent Trocheck leads New York with 5 goals during the postseason, with LW Chris Kreider, LW Alexis Lafreniere, and LW Artemi Panarin tied in 2nd with 4 goals each.

C Sebastian Aho enters Game 6 with the Carolina team lead in points (10), and all have come at even strength. Aho is 6th all-time in goals scored (26) amongst Finnish players in Stanley Cup Playoff history.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: +100 | U: -122)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Rangers at Hurricanes projected goalies

Igor Shesterkin (7-2, 2.33 GAA, .924 SV%) vs. Frederik Andersen (6-3, 2.46 GAA, .902 SV%)

Shesterkin stopped 24 shots Monday and allowed 3 or more goals for a 2nd straight game (4th time this series). He has started all 36 playoff games for the Rangers in the past 3 years.

Andersen stopped 20 of 21 shots in Game 5, and the only goal he allowed was shorthanded to Rangers captain D Jacob Trouba. The 34-year-old has started 9 of 10 games for Carolina this postseason, getting Game 3 off in place of G Pyotr Kochetkov, as coach Rod Brind’Amour believed Freddy needed rest after the Rangers’ double-OT loss in Game 2.

Rangers at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Hurricanes 3

Moneyline

BET RANGERS (+140).

These teams are so evenly matched that I would much rather take the plus money on the road team with the superior goaltender.

C Mika Zibanejad, the playoff points leader (13) for the Rangers, was held off the scoresheet for the 1st time this postseason in Game 5. That snapped an 8-game assist streak to start the playoffs, and only Bobby Orr in 1972 had a longer assist streak (11 games).

With Kreider potentially not 100%, expect the 31-year-old Zibanejad to elevate his game and lead his team to the Eastern Conference Final.

 Puck line/Against the spread

Consider including Rangers +1.5 (-192) in a parlay.

Laying (-192) on the Blueshirts +1.5 as a single bet is too much. However, if you are into building parlays, pairing the Rangers +1.5 (-192) with the Florida Panthers (-154 at Boston Bruins, Friday at 7 p.m. ET) pays out +151 and provides a 2-night sweat.

Over/Under

BET OVER 5.5 (+100).

Carolina has attempted the most shots on goal in the playoffs (285) while also netting the most rebound goals (3) amongst Eastern Conference teams. Four of the 5 games in this series have been 1-goal games, so the potential for OT is certainly there, as is the possibility of empty-net goals with Carolina’s season on the line.

Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

The Oilers evened the series 2-2 at home on Tuesday after taking down the Canucks 3-2 and covering as -203 home favorites. Three Edmonton players scored and 5 players had an assist while C Leon Draisaitl and D Evan Bouchard each had a goal and an assist.

After taking a game on the road, Vancouver was unable to do so again on Tuesday while failing to cover as a +180 road underdog. RW Conor Garland and C Dakota Joshua each found the back of the net.

Oilers at Canucks projected goalies

Calvin Pickard (12-7-1, 2.45 GAA, .909 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Arturs Silovs (3-0-1, 2.47 GAA, .881 SV%)

While G Stuart Skinner has been the main goalie for the Oilers throughout the playoffs, Pickard closed out Game 3 and got the win in Game 4. Those have been his only 2 playoff appearances for Edmonton thus far while he has allowed only 2 goals in just under 80 minutes of action.

Silovs remains the top choice for the Canucks after starting 7 games in a row in the playoffs. He has allowed 14 goals so far in the series including just 3 each in both of the previous 2 games and a .900 or better SV% in that span.

Oilers at Canucks picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 3, Canucks 2

Moneyline

BET OILERS (-145).

The Oilers won a critical Game 4 at home to even the series on Tuesday, holding the Canucks to just 2 goals. Each game in this back-and-forth series has been separated by a single goal with both goalies performing well. Winning 2 of the last 3 games in the series, including the most recent in Vancouver, Edmonton holds the advantage heading into Game 5.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

With each game being separated by a single goal, this is minimal value on the puck line.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 6.5 (-120).

While the Over has hit in 3 of the 4 games in this series, it seemed like both teams started to settle in on Tuesday. The Oilers scored a goal in each period while both of the Vancouver goals came in the final period. Each team has scored a total of 6 goals in the previous 2 games combined and in a critical Game 5, expect each defense to continue to play an amplified role.

Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers meet in Game 5 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 2nd-round series Tuesday. The Panthers lead the series 3-1. Puck drop from Amerant Bank Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Bruins vs. Panthers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Florida is on the precipice of advancing to the Eastern Conference Final as it has won 3 straight over Boston after dropping Game 1. Most recently, the Panthers battled back on Mother’s Day to defeat the Bruins 3-2, cashing as (-162) road favorites.

Boston has managed to record just 15, 17 and 18 shots respectively in their 3 consecutive losses. Florida D Gustav Forsling has been a big reason why the Bruins have found little success offensively. In Game 3, Boston attempted just 6 shots while the 27-year-old was on the ice, compared to 27 for the Panthers.

Bruins at Panthers projected goalies

Jeremy Swayman (5-5, 2.28 GAA, .930 SV%) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (7-2, 2.55 GAA, .892 SV%)

Swayman has surrendered 12 goals in the last 3 games, 3 more than he did across six 1st-round outings vs. Toronto. Swayman, who appeared to challenge LW Matthew Tkachuk early in Game 4, told reporters Sunday he was unable to play his position on C Sam Bennett‘s 3rd-period power-play goal which tied it at 2.

Panthers captain C Aleksander Barkov was complimentary of their goaltender’s mental focus as he spoke to reporters after Game 4, and Bobrovsky did not let Bruins LW Pat Maroon rattle his cage during warmups. The 35-year-old shut out Boston for 40 minutes in Game 4 after allowing a couple of quick goals in the 1st period.

Bruins at Panthers picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 3, Bruins 2

Moneyline

INCLUDE PANTHERS (-205) IN A PARLAY.

Bruins LW Brad Marchand is out for this do-or-die matchup after getting punched by Bennett in Game 3, which caused Boston’s captain to miss Game 4 as well. The team will try to rally around the moment, but it won’t be enough against the defending conference champs.

Laying over 2 bucks on the ML is too steep, so we need a dance partner in a parlay. I like including the Panthers (-205) along with the Vancouver Canucks +1.5 (-152 at Edmonton Oilers, 9:30 p.m. ET), as Edmonton’s goaltending has struggled. That 2-leg parlay pays out +146.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

Instead of laying (-156) on Bruins +1.5, take a shot on WILL THERE BE OVERTIME: YES (+360).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 5.5 (-114).

These teams are at the top of the list among the 8 remaining playoff teams when it comes to hits delivered this postseason, and I am anticipating another physical, tight game. The Bruins are fighting to keep their season alive, and the Panthers don’t want to have to go back to Boston for a Game 6.

Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers battle Tuesday in Game 4 of a best-of-7 Western Conference 2nd-round series. Puck drop from Rogers Place is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Canucks vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Vancouver got back in the win column to take a 2-1 series lead on Sunday with a 4-3 win to cover as a +180 road underdog. RW Brock Boeser and C Elias Lindholm each scored 2 goals while 5 Canucks players were credited with at least 1 assist.

The Oilers scored a goal in each period in Sunday’s loss while failing to cover as -203 home favorites. Three Edmonton players had a goal and an  assist. After giving up 3 goals in the 1st period, Edmonton’s last ditch effort was not enough to secure the win.

Canucks at Oilers projected goalies

Arturs Silovs (3-0-1, 2.47 GAA, .881 SV%) vs. Stuart Skinner (36-16-5, 2.62 GAA, .905 SV%, 2 SO)

Silovs saw minimal action during the regular season, but has been the Canucks lead goalie in this 2nd-round series. He has allowed 3 or more goals in each of the 3 games in this series and has a .861 SV% in that span. He has started each of the last 6 games for Vancouver.

Skinner has seen much more action this season than Silovs and has been the steadfast goalie for the Oilers throughout the 1st 2 rounds of the playoffs, starting each postseason game. He has allowed 3 or more goals in each of the 3 games this series and has a .789 SV% in that span, much lower than his season average.

Canucks at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Canucks 3

Moneyline

SPRINKLE OILERS (-210).

This is minimal value on the Oilers to win, however there is a lower probability of them covering the puck line. Each of their last 3 wins have been by a goal and each game in this series has been a 1-goal differential. Edmonton has scored 4 goals in 3 of its last 4 games while Vancouver has scored 4 or more in 2 of the 3 games in this series. Due to the low value, a sprinkle is recommended.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

There is no value on the Oiler’s puck line with each of the 3 games in this series being separated by a single goal.

Over/Under

BET OVER 6.5 (-105).

The Over has hit in each game in this series with each team scoring 3 or more goals in each game so far. The Canucks have hit the Over in 6 of their last 10 games, including 2 of their last 3 on the road, while the Oilers have hit the Over in 8 of their last 10, including each of their last 4 at home.

The Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers battle Monday in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference 2nd-round series. Puck drop from Madison Square Garden is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Rangers lead series 3-1. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Hurricanes vs. Rangers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Hurricanes staved off elimination with a 4-3 victory in Game 4. Carolina not only survived, but it managed to notch a power-play goal from Brady Skjei at 16:49 of the 3rd period. The Hurricanes were 0-for-16 in the series on the man advantage before the former Rangers rearguard beat his former teammate Igor Shesterkin.

The Rangers suffered their 1st loss of the postseason after opening 7-0 in these playoffs. While New York built a 3-0 series lead, all 3 of those victories were by a single goal, and 2 of the games either went to overtime or double-overtime.

Hurricanes at Rangers projected goalies

Frederik Andersen (5-3-0, 2.63 GAA, .897 SV% – 2024 playoffs) vs. Igor Shesterkin (7-1-0, 2.25 GAA, .927 SV% – 2024 playoffs)

Andersen was back in the crease for Game 4 after Pyotr Kochetkov made the start in Game 3. Andersen has allowed 3 or more goals in each of his past 5 starts. He stopped 22 of 25 shots in Game 4 for his 1st victory since the series clincher in Game 5 against the New York Islanders.

Hurricanes at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 2, Rangers 1

Moneyline

The HURRICANES (-115) are road favorites in a game which they’re facing elimination. The Rangers (-105) were underdogs in the 1st 2 games at Madison Square Garden, and New York cashed in each of those outings.

While the Hurricanes dropped the 1st 2 visits to MSG in the postseason, Carolina is a high-octane offense which will be playing desperate hockey. It’s entirely possible Carolina plays its best game of the series, forcing the series back to Raleigh, only to lose in Game 6.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Rangers +1.5 (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward. If you like New York to close out this series in 5 games, just bet it straight up.

The Underdog had won an amazing 12 consecutive meetings between these teams before the Hurricanes broke through as favorites in Game 4 on home ice.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-115) is a strong play in Game 5, although the Over has dominated in this series so far, cashing in 3 of the 1st 4 games of the series.

Carolina is going to be pressing, but not taking a bunch of silly risks, as its back is against the wall. And New York won’t want any silly miscues to allow Carolina to have any life, and an ability to get back into the series. Go low, and feel confidently about doing so.

Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks meet in Game 2 of a best-of-7 Western Conference, 2nd-round series Friday. The Canucks lead 1-0. Puck drop from Rogers Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oilers vs. Canucks odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

No lead is safe in the 2nd round of these Western Conference playoffs. The Oilers found that out in a 5-4 Game 1 loss Wednesday. They were -128 road favorites as the Canucks were +116 underdogs and the Over (6) cashed.

Edmonton built a 4-1 lead with 6:49 left in the 2nd period in the opener. A goal by C Elias Lindholm late in the period sliced the lead to 4-2.

Midway through the 3rd period, the Vancouver offense caught fire. C J.T. Miller, D Nikita Zadorov and RW Conor Garland each scored within a 5-minute span erasing the deficit to take a 5-4 lead with 5:34 to go. Garland’s go-ahead goal came 39 seconds after Zadorov’s tying tally and all of the wind had been sucked out of Edmonton’s sails.

Canucks G Arturs Silovs only had to make 14 saves as the Oilers finished with 18 shots. Edmonton G Stuart Skinner stopped 19 of Vancouver 24 shots.

Including Wednesday’s victory, Vancouver is 5-0 vs. Edmonton this season, outscoring the Oilers 26-11. The Over is 3-1-1 in those games, including a perfect 3-0 in the games played in Vancouver — 2 regular-season meetings and Game 1.

  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Oilers -1.5 (+185) | Canucks +1.5 (-225)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Oilers at Canucks projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (4-2-0, 3.01 GAA, .893 SV%, 1 SO in 2024 playoffs) vs. Arturs Silovs (3-1-0, 2.28 GAA, .908 SV%, 1 SO in 2024 playoffs)

Skinner was blitzed in the 3rd period, allowing 3 goals, and he coughed up 4 straight to the Canucks. It appeared he and his Oilers teammates were on their way to a win, but the Canucks had other ideas. This will be a tough one to bounce back from.

Despite falling behind 4-1, Silovs righted the ship in the opener. He’s 3-1 in these playoffs and has been a decent fill-in for All-Star G Thatcher Demko, who is sidelined with a knee injury. Demko could be back in net by Game 4 or 5 as he is trending in the right direction.

Oilers at Canucks picks and predictions

Prediction

Canucks 5, Oilers 3

Moneyline

The CANUCKS (+115) are a strong play in Game 2 as short underdogs at home. This Vancouver offense proved it has no quit, and it can be a quick strike unit when necessary.

The Oilers (-135) have to be shellshocked after blowing a 3-goal lead in the opener. Edmonton looked like it might finally be able to get over the hump against Vancouver after losing all 4 regular-season meetings, but it laid an egg in the 3rd period. That’s going to be tough to forget about.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Canucks +1.5 (-225) will cost more than 2 times the potential return. That’s too expensive even if you looking for insurance with the +1.5 goals and don’t feel comfortable backing Vancouver straight up.

AVOID and focus on the moneyline instead.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (+100) is worth a look.

The Over has cashed in all 3 meetings this season in Vancouver, and Skinner has allowed 9 goals in his past 2 starts.

The Over looks like a solid option, and at plus-money, it’s a nice value, too.

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins meet in Game 3 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 2nd-round series Friday. The series is tied 1-1. Puck drop from TD Garden is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Florida evened up the series by a score of 6-1 in Game 2 Wednesday, cashing as a (-156) home favorite. The Over came through for the 7th time in 10 matchups between these teams.

Panthers LW Matthew Tkachuk and Bruins RW David Pastrnak drew the postgame headlines for their fight in the 3rd period, while C Aleksander Barkov earned 3 Stars with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Boston took a 1-0 lead into the 1st intermission as C Charlie Coyle scored his 1st goal of the postseason. Florida would go on to score 6 unanswered in periods 2 and 3.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (5-2, 2.71 GAA, .893 SV%) vs. Jeremy Swayman (5-3, 1.82 GAA, .942 SV%) vs.

Bobrovsky stopped 14 of 15 shots he faced in Game 2. The 2-time Vezina Trophy winner was nominated for a 3rd after sporting a 2.37 GAA with 6 shutouts during the regular season.

Swayman surrendered 4 goals in Game 2, the most during the postseason. Swayman’s SV% is still the highest and his GAA the lowest amongst all remaining goaltenders in the playoffs.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 4, Boston 3

Moneyline

BET FLORIDA (-125).

I would much rather back a Florida team that went on the road and won in overtime twice at TD Garden last postseason, as well as once in Toronto and twice more in Carolina.

If Friday night’s game is decided in regulation, the Panthers have had the better track record thus far, as their goal differential per 60 is best among Eastern Conference playoff teams (0.73).

Additionally, Florida has averaged the 3rd-most time per playoff game leading its opponent (25:13), so I expect it to maintain at least a 1-goal advantage and hold on for the Game 3 win.

Puck line/Against the spread

Consider adding Bruins +1.5 (-255) to a parlay.

This is too much juice for a single bet to back Boston +1.5 (-255). However, if you are looking to spread out action across multiple days, consider pairing the Bruins’ PL with the New York Rangers +1.5 (-200 at Carolina Hurricanes, Saturday at 7 p.m. ET), which would pay out +108 in a 2-leg parlay.

Over/Under

BET OVER 5.5 (-106).

RW Kyle Okposo and Tkachuk each have scored 4 goals with 6 assists this postseason.

C Carter Verhaeghe, who leads Florida with 5 goals, told reporters after Game 2 that the Panthers were “kind of out of it” due to having extended time off between playoff series. After a 6-goal performance in Game 2 that saw C Saw Reinhart record 4 assists, it seems like the Panthes are certainly back in it offensively.
