2020 Pro Bowl selection: Time and TV info for roster announcement

The NFL will be revealing the 2020 Pro Bowl roster on Tuesday. Here are all the details.

As the NFL regular season draws to a close, many teams will go home empty handed as the postseason roars to life. One season after winning the NFC North and boasting a No. 3 seed in the conference, the Bears have been eliminated from playoff contention following Week 15 and an overall disappointing outing.

But there are still some Bears players that will have a chance to play some January football as the NFL prepares to announce its 2020 Pro Bowl rosters.

With voting officially closed for the 2020 Pro Bowl, the official announcement of rosters for the AFC and NFC will be announced Tuesday night.

While there aren’t many Bears players that could seemingly make the roster — especially on offense — there are a few that have had Pro-Bowl years, including kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson, receiver Allen Robinson, cornerback Kyle Fuller, punt returner Tarik Cohen and outside linebacker Khalil Mack.

Watch Jets vs. Ravens Live Online.

The New York Jets (4-11) face a tough road test this week when they head to Baltimore (11-2) to take on a red hot Ravens team. New York won the first meeting 19-16 in overtime in 1996 and 24-16 in 2016, the last time these two teams played.

After losing 22-6 to the Bengals to give them their lone win of the season two weeks ago, the Jets bounced back with a narrow 22-21 win over the Dolphins. The victory at home gave New York its third win in four games. Sam Darnold completed 20 of 36 passes for 270 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Le’veon Bell was too sick to play, which allowed Bilal Powell to get the start. Powell carried the ball 19 times for 74 yards, while Robby Anderson led the team with seven catches for 116 yards and one touchdown. Bell believes he isn’t getting enough touches this season, so it will be interesting to see his role in the offense over the next three games.

In last week’s win, the Jets were able to keep the Dolphins out of the end zone and held them to seven field goals. However, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick totaled over 300 yards of offense. Defensively, the Jets trail only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when it comes to stopping the run. New York is holding opponents to an average of 78.8 YPG and will face its toughest test of the season against the NFL’s best rushing attack led by Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram.

The Baltimore Ravens have accepted every challenge thrown their way this season and the Jets should be no exception. Offensively, the Ravens are posting an average of 408.2 yards per game, with a league-leading 200.9 YPG on the ground. Baltimore has won eight games in a row including back-to-back games against the 49ers and Bills. Lamar Jackson threw for 145 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the 24-17 win in Buffalo. He also added 40 yards on the ground to bring his total to 1,017 and join Michael Vick (2006) as the only quarterbacks to rush for 1,000 yards in the season. However, Buffalo’s defense proved that the Ravens can be stifled. Baltimore’s 118 yards on the ground and 257 total yards were both season lows.

Championship teams find ways to win and that’s exactly what the Ravens have done in back-to-back weeks. The defense stepped up and did what it needed to do as well. Josh Allen was sacked six times and Buffalo was held to just 209 yards of total offense, its lowest on the season. Matthew Judon paved the way with five tackles and one-and a half sacks.

Report: Panthers QB Cam Newton plans to have foot surgery

Cam Newton will finally undergo surgery on his injured left foot, according to Tiffany Blackmon at NFL Network.

Cam Newton will finally undergo surgery on his injured left foot, according to Tiffany Blackmon at NFL Network.

The Panthers’ franchise quarterback first hurt his Lisfranc in a preseason loss to the Patriots. Ron Rivera’s decision to play Newton despite his not being healthy in the first two games of the season may have been a significant factor in his getting fired on Tuesday.

Newton aggravated the problem in the Week 2 loss to the Buccaneers. Eventually, he was placed on injured reserve.

Cam still has one year left on his contract, but there’s no guarantee he will play without an extension. A healthy Newton would have a tremendous amount of leverage over the organization given the circumstances. It’s difficult to gauge how much he has at the moment, though.

Owner David Tepper told the media yesterday no decision will be made until Newton is fully healthy. Expect that to come around March.

WATCH: Brian Baldinger calls Bills’ Tre White ‘elite cornerback’

NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger calls Buffalo Bills CB Tre’Davious White an “elite” cornerback in the NFL.

Former player and current NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger loves the full-team effort he sees from the Bills defense each week.

But if he had to pick one star amongst the team, it’s cornerback Tre’Davious White.

In one of his weekly “Baldy Breakdown” segments on his Twitter feed, Baldinger kept a close eye on White. The praise included Baldinger calling White “elite” after watching him face Broncos wideout Courtland Sutton in Week 12.

“I mean, it’s time to just recognize Tre’Davious White… he’s one of the five best corners in all of football,” Baldinger said.

Here’s Baldinger’s full breakdown of White’s game against the Broncos:

Indianapolis snapped a two-game losing streak by beating the Jaguars 33-13 at home. Jacoby Brissett, who totaled 326 yards and four touchdowns last time against the Texans, returned from injury and picked up 148 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The team relied less on the passing game and more on the run with the unit combining for 264 yards and three touchdowns for the fourth-ranked rushing attack in the NFL. Jonathan Williams had 13 carries for 116 yards, while Marlon Mack picked up 109 yards and one touchdown to bring his total to 865 yards on the season (fifth in the NFL). Unfortunately, Mack will undergo hand surgery and be out indefinitely, causing a huge blow to the offense and shifting the weight back onto Brissett.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Colts picked up two sacks and forced Nick Foles to throw one interception. The key was its ability to stop the run and hold Leonard Fournette to just 23 yards. Kenny Moore II led the team with eight tackles and one sack, while rookie Rock Ya-Sin racked up six tackles and the lone interception. The Colts will need to put pressure on Deshaun Watson and force the Texans to beat them in the passing game.

Sacks, sacks, and more sacks. The Baltimore Ravens defense was in the face of Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson all afternoon as they were destroyed 41-7 on the road. Watson completed 18 of 29 passes for 169 yards, one interception and was sacked 7 times. The offensive line will need to keep Watson upright the Texans want to beat the Colts. Carlos Hyde picked up nine carries for 65 yards and one touchdown for a rushing attack that ranks fifth with an average of 140.7 YPG. All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins led the team with seven catches for 80 yards and is the go-to guy for Watson in the passing game.

No defense has had the answer for Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson this season and the Texans were no different. The dual-threat quarterback accounted for over 300 yards and four touchdowns of total offense. Houston allowed 491 yards in the game, including 112 yards and one touchdown to running back Gus Edwards. Mack being sidelined will make the contest a little easier this weekend against the Colts but don’t count out Williams. Not only will they have to account for him, but also a versatile Jacoby Brissett.

Hill suffered a hamstring injury on the last play of the first drive of Kansas City’s 24-17 win against the Chargers Monday night at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

The 25-year-old left the field and was worked on by the medical staff on the sideline before heading to the locker room. Hill returned to the sideline but never re-entered the game Monday.

Hill missed four games this season (Week 2 through Week 5) with a sternum injury. He averages 16.5 yards per catch on 33 receptions for 543 yards in seven games this season. Hill has scored 5 touchdowns this year.

The Chiefs (7-4) lead the AFC West and are now in their bye week for Week 12.
