Former Notre Dame baseball player hired as Pitt athletic director

Great to see him doing well.

A face familiar to Notre Dame sort of will be reuniting with the Irish in the ACC. [autotag]Allen Greene[/autotag], who played baseball at Notre Dame for three seasons, has been hired as Pittsburgh’s new athletic director, effective Nov. 1. He will leave his current role as chief operating officer and senior deputy athletic director at Tennessee.

From 1996 to 1998, Greene slashed .329/.413/.538 for the Irish, resulting in a .951 OPS. He hit 15 home runs, had 113 RBIs and stole 22 bases. After his final season, the New York Yankees selected him in the ninth round of the MLB draft, but he never got above High-A.

Since then, Greene has worked a seven-year stint at Notre Dame, had two stints at Ole Miss and served as the athletic director at Buffalo and Auburn for a combined eight years. He clearly found his calling after his playing days ended, and it’s great to see him thrive in it:

Best of luck to Greene in his new role (though not against the Irish).

Patrick Mahomes takes jab at Travis Kelce after Guardians’ ALCS win

Check out this Twitter exchange between #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce after the #Guardians’ ALCS victory on Thursday night.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is not shy about his love for the Royals, and as a minority owner of the beloved baseball franchise, he is always quick to bring his fandom up on social media.

Though the Royals’ season was cut short by the New York Yankees in the ALDS, Mahomes didn’t waver in his support for the Boys in Blue when Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made a post on Twitter about the Cleveland Guardians’ latest win.

Cleveland mounted a comeback against the Yankees on Thursday night to extend the ALCS, which got Kelce pumped up ahead of the Chiefs’ Week 7 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

Mahomes made sure to chirp at the All-Pro pass-catcher, quote-tweeting Kelce in this hilarious exchange:

Expect Mahomes and Kelce to have this online dispute resolved in time for Kansas City’s Super Bowl LVIII rematch at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco this weekend.

Aaron Judge finally hit his first Yankees home run of the 2024 MLB postseason

He finally did it!!!

After going cold in the 2024 MLB postseason so far, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge finally hit an October home run.

In Game 2 of the ALCS on Tuesday night in New York, Judge homered off a pitch from Cleveland Guardians pitcher Hunter Gaddis to widen the Yankees’ 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning.

There was a New York runner on base during Judge’s hit, making this a major double for the Yankees.

After such a long wait (considering the talent at hand), MLB fans finally got to see Judge knock one out of the baseball diamond in the 2024 playoffs.

The couple was making the most of their time together before the Eras Tour starts back up.

The New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians kicked off Game 1 of the ALCS on Monday night in the Bronx, with the home team getting the win to start the series. Pop star Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce were in attendance as Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs were on a bye.

Swift and Kelce seemingly had a blast at the game, snacking on popcorn and sipping drinks with friends in the box. The couple was absolutely adorable, cuddling up and looking at each other with heart eyes throughout all nine innings.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce looked so good leaving the Guardians-Yankees ALCS Game 1 hand in hand

The duo was all smiles leaving Yankee Stadium.

The New York Yankees took Game 1 of the ALCS on Monday night, defeating the Cleveland Guardians 5-2.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was in attendance in the Bronx with girlfriend Taylor Swift as Kansas City had a bye week. Kelce and the 14-time Grammy winner were spotted in a box having a blast, even though the Cleveland native went home disappointed in the result.

Swift and Kelce spent the whole weekend in the Big Apple, including going out for dinner with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

The power couple departed Yankee Stadium after the game Monday night hand-in-hand, still smiling and saying goodbye to people they passed. Both wore mostly black ensembles, and bundled up for the chilly October night.

The power couple is making the most of the Chiefs’ bye week.

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a bye last week, and their star tight end Travis Kelce is making the most of his time off. Kelce was spotted out in New York City with girlfriend Taylor Swift on Saturday and Sunday night, including a double date with acting couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

On Monday evening, the power couple decided to make the trip to the Bronx to take in Game 1 of the ALCS between the Guardians and Yankees. A native of Westlake, Ohio, Kelce is a Guardians fan.

The 14-time Grammy winner and 3-time Super Bowl winner went as low-key as a they could, donning black baseball caps and bundling up for the crisp October night.

New York Mayor Eric Adams wore the most awkward Mets and Yankees hat

Well, this is a little awkward.

Embattled New York Mayor Eric Adams tried to placate fans of both the city’s MLB teams on Monday in the most awkward way possible.

Adams was spotted wearing a custom baseball cap that showed both the logos for the New York Mets and the New York Yankees, which is certainly one way to commemorate both teams being in the playoffs.

The mayor has been in a lot of trouble as of late, so it makes sense for him to curry favor with as many New Yorkers as possible.

However, we’re not sure this is the best way to do it.

According to MLB reporter Bryan Hoch, Kelce and Swift are set to attend Game 1 of the ALCS, which is set to feature the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians in the Big Apple tonight.

Kelce has made the most of his time off with Swift in New York and went on a double date with actors Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively last week.

Kelce, a Cleveland native, is sure to be rooting for the Guardians in the highly-anticipated playoff matchup.

It is unclear which team, if any, Swift is supporting in the ALCS.

Stay tuned to see if Kelce and Swift are featured in the game’s broadcast.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes reacts to Royals’ loss to Yankees in ALDS

Check out what #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes had to say to the #Royals after their loss to the #Yankees in the ALDS.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is invested in the world of local sports, and as a minority owner of the Royals, the two-time MVP is one of their biggest fans.

The Royals’ miraculous season came to an end Thursday night when they lost 3-1 to the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the ALDS.

After a 106-loss season in 2023, many fans in Kansas City had low hopes for the Boys in Blue but, with the help of a greatly-improved pitching staff and star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., the Royals made the playoffs for the first time since 2015.

After sweeping the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Wild Card Series, Kansas City’s season was cut short by the powerhouse Yankees.

The unfortunate ending didn’t stop Mahomes from congratulating the Royals on Twitter for an incredible season:

As the Royals head into their offseason, Mahomes will have plenty of time to prepare for the San Francisco 49ers as the Chiefs look to keep their undefeated streak alive in Week 7.
