New York Rangers at Toronto Maple Leafs odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s New York Rangers at Toronto Maple Leafs sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Rangers (18-15-4) and Toronto Maple Leafs (21-14-4) will lock horns at Scotiabank Arena at 7 p.m. ET Saturday. We analyze the Rangers-Maple Leafs sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Rangers at Maple Leafs: Projected starting goalies

Alexandar Georgiev vs. Frederik Andersen

Georgiev is expected to get the nod after Henrik Lundqvist shut down the Carolina Hurricanes for the third time this season Friday night. With the back-to-back and a heavy workload for the King, Georgiev is expected to play. He is 9-7-1 with a 2.93 goals against average and .915 save percentage with two shutouts. Georgiev is looking to avenge a loss Dec. 20 against the Leafs at Madison Square Garden.

Andersen has posted a 19-8-3 record with a 2.64 goals against average and .916 save percentage, as he has single-handedly kept the Leafs in the mix. If not for his heroics in the crease, who knows where the Blue and White would be.

Prediction

Maple Leafs 6, Rangers 4

Moneyline (ML)

The MAPLE LEAFS (-238) are worth a small-unit play here, as the Rangers (+190) are 10-4 in the past 14 trips to Toronto, but just 2-5 in the previous seven meetings in this series. The Blueshirts are also just 4-10 in the past 14 games when working on no rest while going 1-7 in the past eight vs. Atlantic Division foes.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Maple Leafs (-1.5, +115) have a chance to cover the puck line, and that’s the way to roll if you want to play this game. However, the defensive lapses of the Leafs lately make them risky business. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6.5 (+125) is the way to go in this one, cashing in nine of the past 11 meetings at Scotiabank Arena. The Over is also 6-0-1 in New York’s past seven overall, and 4-1 in Toronto’s past five overall.

New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The New York Rangers (17-14-4) and Philadelphia Flyers (20-11-5) convene at Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. ET Monday before heading out for the holiday break. We analyze the Rangers-Flyers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Rangers at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

Alexandar Georgiev vs. Carter Hart

Georgiev has posted a 9-7-1 record, 2.93 goals-against average and .915 save percentage with two shutouts. He is likely to get the start after Henrik Lundqvist started (and won) on Sunday afternoon against the Anaheim Ducks. King Henrik has started back-to-back before, and with the holiday break coming up, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him tabbed for this one since he saw such a low workload Sunday.

Hart is 12-7-3 with a 2.33 GAA and .912 save percentage with a shutout, and he has back-to-back wins vs. Anaheim and the Buffalo Sabres, turning aside all but two of the 60 shots he faced.

Prediction

Flyers 4, Rangers 2

Moneyline (ML)

The Flyers (-200) are not worth a play, as risking two times the return is just not good business. If you’ve frequented my columns, you know the neighborhood of -160 to -170 is my cut-off, unless it’s included in a multi-team parlay.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered for the Flyers to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout would profit $5 if they do so.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The FLYERS (-1.5, +135) are a much better roll of the dice on the puck line at home. The Rangers (+1.5, -167) have won six straight inside the division, but they’re 1-4 in the past five overall, and they’re 7-16 in the past 23 when working on no rest. The Flyers have won nine of the past 13 overall, and six of the past seven at home. Philly is also 6-1 in the past seven meetings, and the favorite has hit in seven of the past nine meetings.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Under is the trend in this series, hitting in five straight meetings. However, buck the trend and play the OVER 5.5 (-139). Here’s why: The Rangers are playing the second end of a back-to-back, and the Over is 12-4 in their past 16 on no rest. The Over is also 5-0 in their past five overall, while going 4-0 in the past four as an underdog. The Flyers have hit six straight Overs against Eastern Conference foes.

Toronto Maple Leafs at New York Rangers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Toronto Maple Leafs at New York Rangers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Toronto Maple Leafs (17-14-4) visit the New York Rangers (16-13-4) Friday at Madison Square Garden for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop. We analyze the Maple Leafs-Rangers odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Maple Leafs at Rangers: Projected starting goalies

Frederik Andersen vs. Alexandar Georgiev

Andersen owns a 2.51 goals against average and .920 save percentage in 28 games. The 30-year-old has been terrific on the road (.927 SV%). In his last road turn (Dec. 14 at Edmonton Oilers), Andersen bounced back from a shaky Dec. 12 start to turn aside 36 of 37 shots. He has registered a .932 SV% since Nov. 21.

Georgiev has posted a 2.72 GAA and .920 SV in 16 games (15 starts), but the 23-year-old Bulgarian netminder has logged a few clunkers since a hot start. After notching a .933 SV% over his first six games, Georgiev has had three games allowing five or more goals while posting a .913 SV%. He owns a .850 mark over his last two games.

Prediction

Toronto 4, New York 2

Moneyline (ML)

Toronto has been the sharper team over the last week. The Leafs have exhibited a bit more offensive firepower and consistency of late, and they have a more solid and well-rounded puck possession base. Posting a few three-goal wins away from home the last two weeks has been impressive.

The Maple Leafs are 8-4 since Sheldon Keefe took over behind the bench for the fired Mike Babcock.

Take the MAPLE LEAFS (-167) on the moneyline.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The New York power play has struggled since posting decent numbers through the first month of the season. The Rangers have 10 goals over their last 62 chances with an extra skater (16.1%). Andersen has been outstanding in 5-on-5 play.

The Rangers are 3-5 ATS over their last eight games. I’ll play TORONTO (-1.5, +155). The Leafs have a big advantage in recent puck-possession analytics and a favorable goaltending matchup.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS on the Under 6.5 (-139). There’s no good value/probability on either side.

Nashville Predators at New York Rangers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Nashville Predators at New York Rangers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (14-12-5) drop the puck on a four-game road swing with Monday’s Madison Square Garden tilt (7 p.m. ET) against a New York Rangers (16-12-4) squad returning from a four-game West Coast trip. We analyze the Predators-Rangers odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Predators at Rangers: Projected starting goalies

Pekka Rinne vs. Alexandar Georgiev

Rinne owns a 2.99 goals against average and .893 save percentage through 18 games. The .893 figure would be a career-worst for the 14-year veteran. Its been games of recent vintage that have sent Rinne’s numbers so low. He owns a .854 SV% over his last 10 games. He is coming off a start in which he allowed four goals on 22 shots. The sample is small, but Rinne has been a bit better away from home during his slump.

Georgiev owns a fine 2.69 GAA on the strength of a .923 SV%. He has been even better than that of late. But a bit of regression — perhaps to the level of the 23-year old’s play from Nov. 4-23 (.863 SV%), and the Preds could pounce.

Predators at Rangers: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 11 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Nashville 3, New York 1

Moneyline (ML)

I pegged the Predators as a play in this one (better support analytics, NYR perhaps too far extended with 3.2 GAA) but not at more than -130. PASS on Nashville’s -139 line.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Both teams generate a decent number of power-play opportunities. An expected bounce-back in the Preds’ extra-skater effectiveness further backs up the already existing lean. I will pull the trigger here on the puck line and take NASHVILLE (-1.5, +190) to win by at least a pair of goals.

In the opening game of a multi-game road trip, the Predators are 2-1. In that same category – with the condition flipped to home stands – the Rangers are 1-3.

Over/Under (O/U)

A play on the UNDER 5.5 (+115) also has some value. This accounts for some positive regression from Rinne and the fact his numbers are a bit depressed from playing in the high-scoring and tough Central Division.

The Under is 5-2 over Nashville’s last seven games. 7-0 in the Rangers’ last seven as a home dog and 9-2 over New York’s last 11 games overall.

Rangers center Mika Zibanejad scored the second fastest goal in Rangers history

Well, that was fast.

Hockey is an extremely fast game. That’s one of the best things about the sport — it flows and moves quickly. But it’s not normally THIS quick.

It took all of 10 seconds for New York Rangers center Mike Zibanejad to score the first goal of the game against the Anaheim Ducks. It all happened so quickly.

The Rangers won the face-off but the Ducks quickly stole the puck. Zibanejad happened to be skating in the right place at the right time and intercepted an arid pass from the Ducks on his way slashing to the goal. It led to a shot and, boom, he scored.

The crazy part is he was still one second shy of scoring the fastest goal in franchise history. The record of nine seconds has been hit twice in Rangers history — once by Ron Duguay in 1980 and another time by Jim Wiemer in 1985.

Got to be quicker than that, I guess. It’s still impressive.

New York Rangers at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s New York Rangers at Vegas Golden Knights sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips

The Vegas Golden Knights (15-11-5) host the New York Rangers (14-11-3) at T-Mobile Arena Sunday at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Rangers-Golden Knights odds and lines while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Rangers at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Henrik Lundqvist vs. Marc-Andre Fleury

Lundqvist has a 7-6-2 record for New Jersey with a 3.21 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. Lundqvist’s last appearance was Monday when he stopped 28 of 32 shots in a loss at home to these very same Golden Knights.

Fleury has a 11-6-2 record, sporting a 2.54 GAA and a .919 SV%. The expected Vegas starter has not played since Nov. 23 when he yielded four goals in a home loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Rangers at Golden Knights: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 12: 50 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Rangers 2

Moneyline (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-223), 7-5-3 at home, are the rested team going up against a Rangers squad on the first game of a four-game road trip. New York is a respectable 6-5-1 on the road. However, Vegas has won four straight matchups against the Rangers. Finally, New York allows 3.42 goals per game on the road this year. Back Vegas and roll the bones!

A $10 bet with Vegas results in a $4.48 profit with an outright win for the Golden Knights. Or every $2.23 wagered on a Knights win would profit $1 if they prevail.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Rangers are 19-9 ATS, which is tops in the NHL. The Golden Knights are just 12-19 ATS (30th in the league). That gives us some pause here, so it’s best to AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6.5 (-150) is a bit of risk even knowing that Vegas gives up three goals a game at home. There are some concerns about rust with both goaltenders. Lundqvist is just getting over the flu, while Fleury dealt with the loss of his father recently. The other slight concern is that New York allows 35.9 shots per game and is just 76.9% (23rd) on the penalty kill. On the other hand, both teams combine for 6.04 goals per game. Lean slightly to the UNDER.

Placing a $10 bet here will give a bettor a $6.67 profit with a total of six or fewer goals scored.

New York Rangers at Columbus Blue Jackets odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s New York Rangers at Columbus Blue Jackets sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets

The New York Rangers (13-10-3) visit the Columbus Blue Jackets (11-12-4) at Nationwide Arena Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Rangers-Blue Jackets odds and lines while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Rangers at Blue Jackets: Projected starting goalies

Alexandar Georgiev vs. Joonas Korpisalo

Georgiev is confirmed to start and has a 6-4-1 record with a 3.07 goals against average and a .912 save percentage. Georgiev overcame two rough outings to post a 33-save, 4-0 shutout at the New Jersey Devils Saturday.

Korpisalo has a 11-9-1 record with a 2.84 GAA and a .902 SV%. The Columbus goaltender is confirmed in net and will try to rebound from Tuesday’s 4-2 home loss to the Arizona Coyotes. He has stopped 53 of his previous 58 shots faced.

Rangers at Blue Jackets: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Rangers 3, Blue Jackets 2

Moneyline (ML)

The RANGERS (+115) are an intriguing pick because they arguably play better on the road at times than at home as illustrated by their performance on Saturday in New Jersey. The underdog has won the last three games played in Nationwide Arena. With Artemi Panarin in town for the first time since signing in New York, he and the Rangers should be ready. Back New York with a modest bet.

A $10 bet with New York results in an $11.50 profit with an outright win for the Rangers.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Blue Jackets are just 13-14 ATS while the Rangers are third best in the NHL at 17-9. However, the Rangers are the underdogs here so (+1.5, -239) does not look all that appealing. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (+115) is worth a minimal bet. The Under has connected in seven of the last eight games involving the Rangers. Also, both teams are averaging well under three goals a game in their last five – New York at 2.6 and Columbus at 2.0).

Placing a $10 bet here will earn a $11.50 profit with a total of five or fewer goals scored.

The New York Rangers (12-9-3) travel to Newark to face the New Jersey Devils (9-11-4) at Prudential Center Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. We analyze the Rangers-Devils odds and lines while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Rangers at Devils: Projected starting goalies

Alexandar Georgiev vs. MacKenzie Blackwood

Georgiev has a 5-4-1 record for New York with a 3.42 goals against average and .903 save percentage. New York’s goaltending sees the third-most shots per 60 minutes in the entire league. Georgiev won his last start in Montreal but allowed five goals on 43 shots.

Blackwood has an 8-6-3 record. He has a 3.13 goals against average and .900 save percentage on the season. The New Jersey starter stopped 44 of 48 shots in a wild 6-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens Thursday.

Prediction

Devils 4, Rangers 3

Moneyline (ML)

The DEVILS (-134) are the rested team going up against a Rangers team on the second half of a back-to-back. New York lost 3-2 to the Boston Bruins in overtime while New Jersey scored a 6-4 road win in Montreal Thanksgiving night. New Jersey will be able to generate enough offense to hold off the Rangers.

A $10 bet with New Jersey results in a $7.46 profit with an outright win for the Devils.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Devils are 9-15 against the spread which is second to last in the NHL. The Rangers have more than enough offense to keep New Jersey from connecting on the spread (-1.5, +195). AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6.5 (+125) is worth a small play. The first clash between the two teams this year hit the Over. New York has seen the Over connect in its last six road games after a loss. New Jersey and New York both allow around 35 shots per 60 minutes and usually, that results in quality chances and eventually goals.

Placing a $10 bet here will give a bettor a $12.50 profit with a total of seven or more goals scored.

New York Rangers at Boston Bruins odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s New York Rangers at Boston Bruins sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Rangers (12-9-2) and Boston Bruins (17-3-5) will wake up early for a 1 p.m. ET puck drop at TD Garden Friday as they try to skate off some turkey. We analyze the Rangers at Bruins sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Rangers at Bruins: Projected starting goalies

Henrik Lundqvist vs. Tuukka Rask

Lundqvist is coming off his best outing of the season in which he stopped 41 of 43 shots faced for the home win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The veteran has a .914 save percentage and 3.17 goals against average to back his 7-5-1 record through 14 starts and a relief appearance.

Rask got the win in each of his last five starts and is now 12-2-2 on the year with a .931 SV% and 2.10 GAA. No goalie has more wins or shutouts (two). He stopped 33 of 34 shots faced his last time out against the Ottawa Senators.

Prediction

Bruins 4, Rangers 1

Moneyline (ML)

Bruins C Patrice Bergeron (lower body) is expected to remain out of the lineup. He hasn’t played since Nov. 23, with the Bruins winning two straight in his absence and five in a row overall coming into Friday. The Rangers are also on a season-best three-game winning streak, but each of those was decided by just a single goal.

The BRUINS (-278) are heavy favorites on home ice where they are 9-0-4 on the season. The Rangers are 4-5-0 on the road. Boston continues pacing the NHL with a league-best plus-31 goal differential with the offense, defense and goaltending deserving of equal credit. No team has scored more goals and only the Arizona Coyotes have allowed fewer. New York has a goal differential of minus-3.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The BRUINS (-1.5, +100) are a far more profitable play on the puck line where they’ll need to win by two or more goals for a $10 bet to turn a profit of $10.

Boston is 13-12 against the spread overall and 7-6 at home. New York is 15-8 ATS overall and 5-4 on the road. Both teams have equal rest after playing Wednesday.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 6.5 (-149). Rask has been one of the top goalies in the league this season and Lundqvist is beginning to show signs of his younger self. Both teams should be expected to come out a little sluggish with the early week-day start throwing them out of routine.

The Minnesota Wild (9-11-3) travel to New York City to face the New York Rangers (10-9-2) at Madison Square Garden Monday at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Wild-Rangers odds and lines while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Wild at Rangers: Projected starting goalies

Alex Stalock vs. Henrik Lundqvist

Stalock has a 5-3-1 record for Minnesota with a 2.79 goals against average and .908 save percentage. After two very good wins, Stalock allowed five goals to the Boston Bruins Saturday.

Lundqvist has a 5-5-1 record with a 3.37 GAA and .909 save percentage. He allowed four-plus goals in four of his previous five starts.

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Rangers 4, Wild 3

Moneyline (ML)

The RANGERS (+100) are offering plus money at home. Minnesota (-120) is one of the league’s worst teams on the road with a record of just 4-10-2. Even with the Rangers’ team defense the way it is, New York should be able to score enough goals to outlast the Wild.

A $10 bet with New York results in a $10 profit with an outright win for the Rangers.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Rangers are second in the league against the spread with a 13-8 mark and they are 8-4 at home. Minnesota has just enough of an offense to keep things close and that causes a good bit of hesitation. The +230 odds for the Wild to win by two or more goals is enticing, but we’ll AVOID this play as we expect the Rangers to win outright.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6.5 (+125) is worth a tiny wager. It is not a strong bet by any means but this is a Rangers team that can allow four or five goals at home while scoring at the same rate. Needless to say, this game has no in-between. It is either a 2-1 dud or a 4-3 type of contest.

Placing a $10 bet here will give a bettor a $12.50 profit with a total of seven or more goals scored.
