New York has slid to seventh in the Eastern Conference after losing three in a row (0-3 against the spread), including a 99-96 beatdown at home Friday by the Dallas Mavericks. Prior to this skid, the Knicks won three straight and are now 4-4 straight up in their last eight games (3-4-1 ATS).

Detroit boat raced the Washington Wizards 120-91 as a 1-point home favorite Thursday for its second win in the past three games. The Pistons are just 3-5 straight up in their last eight games but covered the spread in five of those contests.

The Knicks are 2-0 straight up and ATS in the season series with the Pistons—winning both games by double digits—heading into their final regular-season meeting.

This is a game the KNICKS (-125) need as they fight for playoff positioning in the East and have back-to-back road games against the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics coming up next week.

That being said, this is clearly a “trap game” for New York, which explains this game’s pricing.

The Knicks hammered the Pistons earlier this season and nearly 90% of the money bet is on New York (according to Pregame.com), yet bookmakers are making the Knicks’ money line cheaper.

It makes sense given how poorly New York has played recently, but the Knicks have been a great bet this season against bad teams.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com, which removes garbage time stats, New York is 15-7 overall with the third-best ATS margin (plus-5.1 points) vs. teams in the bottom-10 of points per 100 possessions differential.

MAVERICKS (-225) is the play here as they have played quite well over the last couple months. Despite a slow start to the season, they’ve won 12 of their last 18 games and are four games above .500.

The Knicks have played well too, but they are a bit more inconsistent due to injuries. We like the Mavericks to win this game on the road as they continue to surge and prove to the rest of the league that they are a contender in the Western Conference.

Against the spread (ATS)

MAVERICKS -5.5 (-110) is the lean as the they have covered the spread in four of their last six games. They also have an offense the Knicks might not be able to keep up with.

New York is averaging 104.8 points per game this season for the third-worst mark in the NBA. If the Knicks don’t score into the 110s Friday night, they have no chance to cover. For that reason, take Dallas to cover and win by at least 6 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 213.5 (-110) is where we are betting as the Mavericks are one of the league’s most explosive offenses. While they are only 17th in scoring, they are starting to really heat up.

Monday, we saw Dallas score 127 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder and that is a reminder of how dangerous the Mavs can be any night. Expect Dallas to score around 115 points Friday, allowing the Over to hit with relative ease.

The Timberwolves are terrible against good defensive squads. Minnesota is 3-13 SU with the worst points per 100 possessions differential and the 24th-ranked ATS margin vs. top-10 defenses, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

The KNICKS -3.5 (-110) are winning the games they should. New York is 15-6 SU with the second-best ATS margin and a plus-6.2 in points per 100 possessions vs. teams in the bottom 10 of net points per 100 possessions, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

Furthermore, New York was bludgeoned by Miami at home Monday and the Knicks are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a SU loss.

GIMME UNDER 218.5 (-110) for a half-unit because the Under has cashed in four straight Knicks-Timberwolves games and New York has played to the Under in six of its last eight games.

My hesitation with the Under here is betting Knicks games to be low-scoring is fairly obvious and the assigned referee crew has officiated far more Overs than Unders this season.

New York is the right side in this game as long as Randle is able to play.

The KNICKS (+145) offense is trending up with wing RJ Barrett playing the best ball of his young career and PG Derrick Rose returning to the lineup in the previous outing after being sidelined due to COVID-19 since the end of February.

The Heat’s offense is limited to SF Jimmy Butler getting to the foul line and their 3-point shooting has plummeted since last year. I don’t hate Miami taking a flyer on Oladipo but Olynyk was second on the team in on-off court net rating.

Also, according to CleaningTheGlass.com, Olynyk’s departure could have the biggest impact on the Heat’s offensive efficiency and rebounding rate on both sides of the floor.

LEAN KNICKS (+145) for a quarter-unit only because Randle’s status is still up in the air.

Definitely BET KNICKS +4 (-110) heavier than or instead of New York’s money line if or when Randle is cleared to play.

I don’t like the Heat’s chances of creating a scoring margin in this game with their limited offense and the Knicks are 13-8-1 with a plus-4.7 ATS margin at home this season.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a lean toward the Over 206.5 (-110) because the previous Heat-Knicks game was the first to go Under in the past four meetings but both teams are tough defensively and play at an ultra-slow pace.

This is a strength-on-strength matchup with Milwaukee’s 4th-highest 3-point percentage facing New York’s No. 1 defensive 3-point percentage.

Also, the Bucks are 3rd in fast-break points per game and 7th in second-chance points per game while the Knicks are 3rd in fastbreak points allowed per game and 5th in second-chance points allowed.

However, the Knicks like to operate mid-range (7th-highest volume of mid-range attempts) and the Bucks are 21st in defensive mid-range shooting percentage, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

Finally, New York is 8-3-1 ATS when playing with a rest advantage. BET KNICKS +9 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Each of these teams got hot from deep in their victory in this season’s head-to-head series, and tonight I see both offenses having success.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Wizards are 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games, which pales in comparison to how hot the Knicks have been (13-5-1 ATS) in their last 19 games. The Knicks blew out the Wizards as 3-point favorites Tuesday night and there’s little reason to believe they can’t cover a 3-point spread again.

Take the KNICKS -3 (-110) to cover, though they probably won’t win by 18 points again.

Over/Under (O/U)

This is a matchup between one of the best offenses and arguably the best defense in the league, with the Knicks ranking first in points per game allowed. The Over/Under is often set lower when the Knicks play, which is why it’s 224.5 points Thursday night.

Philadelphia has beaten New York in 14 consecutive meetings and Embiid and Simmons have never lost to the Knicks. Fortunately for New York, Embiid will not be on the floor and Simmons’ game status is in question.

If Simmons cannot play, it would be a relief considering the Knicks are sixth in the Eastern Conference and are trying to end their eight-year playoff drought.

Furthermore, the previous 76ers-Knicks game was the day after New York played a tightly contested, high-intensity game with the Brooklyn Nets that was decided on the final possession.

Also, the Knicks are 8-3 overall and have a plus-3.3 margin of victory with the third-highest cover rate in games where they have a rest advantage this season.

This is a game New York needs like blood and I’m TAKING the KNICKS (+100) to snap their 14-game losing streak to the Sixers.

The THUNDER (+180) are a good play on their home court, as they have won three of the past four at Chesapeake Energy Arena. They also knocked off the Knicks (-200) in New York back on Jan. 8 by a 101-89 score, winning outright as three-point underdogs. OKC is the play, even though New York has the better overall record this season.

Against the spread (ATS)

The THUNDER +5 (-105) have not only won three of the past four at home, but they’re also 3-1 ATS across the past four games at CEA.

Oklahoma City has played with a lot of confidence in their home building, including 5-1 ATS in the past six meetings at home against the Knicks. They have also cashed in four straight meetings overall.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 213.5 (-110) is the lean in this one, cashing in five of the past six overall for the Knicks while going a perfect 4-0 in their past four when working on a day of rest.

While the Under has ruled the day for OKC lately, going 9-4 in their past 13 overall, the Over is 4-1 in their past five meetings with the Knicks.

The Knicks and Bucks come into this one having played well before the All-Star break. The Knicks are 4-1 in their last five games, while the Bucks won six of their last seven.

The Bucks are clearly the better team, owning a record of 22-14, but the Knicks remain somewhat overlooked as a tough team to beat in the Eastern Conference.

I like the Bucks to win this one straight up, but with a money line of -650, I’d rather bet on the spread and PASS on the ML.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Bucks are favored by 10.5 points for the largest of any game on the NBA’s Thursday schedule. As good as the Bucks’ record is this season, they’re just 17-19 ATS, including 4-6 in their last 10 games.

The Knicks, on the other hand, are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games and an even more impressive 21-16 on the season. Though they’ll be without Rose, I like the KNICKS +10.5 (-110) to cover the double-digit spread and keep this one close.

Over/Under (O/U)

Milwaukee ranks second in the NBA in points scored per game this season, averaging 118.8 PPG. The Knicks have won games with their outstanding defense, ranking first in points allowed (104.4), field-goal percentage (43.5%) and three-point percentage against (33.0%).

The Bucks are healthy and while New York could limit them some, I think the total will go OVER 222.5 (-110) points.

Detroit snapped its 3-game losing streak last night in a 129-105 win over the Toronto Raptors as 7.5-point road underdogs in a game that was marred by COVID-related absences. The Pistons are 2-6 overall and 3-5 ATS in their previous eight games.

The Knicks were crushed by the San Antonio Spurs 119-93 Tuesday, which ended New York’s 3-game win streak. However, newly acquired Knicks guard Derrick Rose missed Tuesday’s game because of an inconclusive COVID-19 test.

Otherwise, New York is 7-3 overall and ATS in the last 10 games, including 109-90 beatdown of Detroit Sunday as 1-point road favorites. The Knicks have won and covered three straight against the Pistons.

The KNICKS -7 (-110) pummeled the Pistons last weekend, and Detroit’s leading scorer, and Most Improved Player frontrunner, Jerami Grant had a team-high 21 points on an inefficient 7-for-19 shooting performance.

Well, Grant is questionable, and if I’m reading the tea leaves, I’d assume the Pistons are going to sit Grant out their final game before the All-Star Break because what’s the incentive of playing him?

Detroit’s season is all but over while New York is flirting with a postseason berth and has to pile up wins against losing teams because of a tough second-half schedule.

Also, Grant’s absence would mean the Pistons will be without three starters, and they have far bigger injury concerns than the Knicks, who are deeper in the first place.

TAKE KNICKS -7 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight lean on the OVER 207.5 (-110) because the market has steamed this total down from a 210.5-point opener, which is a half-point off of my projected total.

According to Pregame.com, nearly 90% of the cash is on the Under in this spot and the market isn’t moving on new information the oddsmakers don’t have. Over the long haul, if you fade 90% of the betting public, you’ll win money as a sports gambler.

BET OVER 207.5 (-110) for a half-unit.
