People are loving Common’s guest appearance in ‘Never Have I Ever’ season 2

People are swooning over Common’s recurring role in the second season of ‘Never Have I Ever.’

The second season of Netflix’s hit series Never Have I Ever is now streaming on the platform, where we get to see the continuation of Devi Vishwakumar’s entertaining journey through her teenage years.

While there’s plenty to digest from season 2, one of the things that people can’t stop talking about is the guest appearance of rapper-actor Common, who plays Dr. Chris Jackson, a rival and love interest for Devi’s mom, Nalini.

While Common’s guest stint in Never Have I Ever might come as a surprise to some, it makes sense given Common’s love for the series, which was a comfort for him during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Last year when everything stood still, I started watching a few shows. A friend of mine told me to watch Never Have I Ever,Common told EW.com. “It was touching my heart. I watched at least the first five episodes [immediately] and then I couldn’t wait to watch the next ones. I was really impacted by how good I felt watching it. It had a lot of things that I love in movies and great TV shows.”

So it made sense for Common to make a guest appearance in the second season, where the door was left open for an eventual return, should the series be green-lit for a third season.

Twitter was full of reactions to Common’s appearance, which included surprise and plenty of swooning.

5 things we know about Naomi Osaka’s new Netflix docuseries

This looks like a must-watch documentary series.

Naomi Osaka is opening up to the world in a new and different way, telling her story in her own words in Netflix’s upcoming eponymous multi-part documentary series.

The streaming service released the trailer for the show on Tuesday, and it looks like it’s a must-watch for tennis fans and general sports fans alike. But it’s not solely about tennis or Osaka’s dominance on the court.

Naomi Osaka takes a deeper and more detailed look at the tennis star’s professional and personal challenges as she works to remain on top of the tennis world while using her platform to push for social justice and condemn racism and police brutality. The series details her life, family and experiences behind the scenes.

“The series is about Naomi’s journey, within a snapshot of her life, but it’s also about life’s purpose, about personal worth, about the courage that it takes to allow one’s personal values to inform their work and vice versa,” Academy-Award nominated director Garrett Bradley said in a Netflix release.

“More than anything, I’d hope people can feel the power of empathy and to feel encouraged to take chances in life, perhaps especially in moments where the stakes can feel impossibly high.”

Here are five things we know about Osaka’s upcoming docuseries.

LeBron James executive produced new Netflix documentary about Naomi Osaka

LeBron James helped Naomi Osaka’s new Netflix documentary come to life.

LeBron James leads a prominent life on the basketball court for the Los Angeles Lakers as one of the best players in the league, but his work goes beyond the NBA.

James also has a busy life off the court, underscored by the work he’s done to bring “Space Jam: A New Legacy” to fruition.

Along with Space Jam and shows James does frequently, such as “The Shop: Uninterrupted” on HBO, James has helped influential athletes playing different sports tell their stories.

Netflix, the streaming giant, is preparing to release a three-part documentary series detailing the life of tennis star Naomi Osaka. The documentary will dive into Osaka’s life off the tennis court and into what her life is like that many don’t realize.

James shared the trailer for the documentary on his Twitter:

The documentary will be live on July 16 — coincidentally the same day as “Space Jam: A New Legacy” — and James, along with his long-time business partner and friend, Maverick Carter, assisted the show’s production as executive producers.

Jeanie Buss, Netflix creating Lakers front office version of ‘The Office’ comedy

The Los Angeles Lakers will have a new comedy series centered around the front office.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ front office will be portrayed in a fresh way soon.

Netflix has ordered a new series that will focus on the Lakers’ front office in a comedy series inspired by the popular show “The Office.”

The show will span 10 episodes with each lasting 30 minutes.

Leading the production team are Mindy Kaling, who starred in “The Office”; Elaine Ko from ‘Modern Family’; and Jeanie Buss, president and governor of the Lakers. Linda Rambis, executive director of special projects for the Lakers, is also helping with production.

Here’s what the show will entail, according to Nellie Andreeva of Deadline:

“Written by Ko, the untitled series is inspired by the personal and professional dynamic between the family owners and front office team that together run one of the most iconic franchises in all of sports: the Los Angeles Lakers. The workplace comedy follows fictional team governor Eliza Reed as she navigates NBA ownership and family drama with her best friend by her side.”

Buss explained the reasoning for comedy being involved on Twitter:

The Lakers will have more representation on the big screen soon. LeBron James will star in “Space Jam: A New Legacy” releasing July 16. The movie will also debut James’ new Nike LeBron 19 shoe.

LOOK: Sean Payton on set for ‘Home Team’ cameo with Kevin James

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton was spotted by TMZ Sports in costume for a cameo on the “Home Team” Netflix film set with Kevin James.

Sean Payton’s 2012 suspension from the NFL has become the subject of a Netflix feature starring Kevin James from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions, and the New Orleans Saints coach has given the team more than his blessing — he’s dressing up for a cameo, as seen in a TMZ Sports photo gallery from the “Home Team” film set.

The story centers on Payton’s experience coaching his son’s Pop Warner team while suspended following the NFL’s “Bountygate” debacle, in which the Super Bowl-winning coach dealt with frustrations like working with children and the complex single wing offense; Payton later joked about calling his mentor Bill Parcells and peer Jon Gruden for advice.

As for Payton’s cameo: we’re short on details, but he appears to be wearing a mechanic’s uniform (codename: Lionel) and one of the worst wigs I’ve ever seen. If he was trying to one-up Drew Brees’ getup for Undercover Boss a few years back, he fell far short of the mark. Maybe his acting chops can make up for it.

Kevin James, ‘Home Team’ cast visit Sean Payton at Saints facility

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton will be portrayed by Kevin James in the Netflix comedy “Home Team,” which prompted James to pay a visit

Kevin James, method actor. The comedian chosen to portray Sean Payton in “Home Team,” an upcoming Netflix feature from his friend Adam Sandler’s production company, visited the New Orleans Saints head coach at the team’s practice facility along with some guests — cast members Rob Schneider and Taylor Lautner, plus Chris Titone, the film’s writer and Sandler’s brother-in-law who also happens to be dating Payton’s daughter Meghan.

Lautner is best known for his role in the “Twilight Saga” franchise but has recently appeared in a few of Sandler’s movies from Happy Madison Productions, while Schneider is a longtime Sandler collaborator with acting credits dating back to the late 1980’s. Sandler’s wife, Jackie, and nephew, Jared, are also slated to appear in the film alongside Isaiah Mustafa, a former Arizona State wideout who spent four years bouncing between NFL practice squads before starting his acting career and rising to prominence in viral Old Spice advertising campaigns.

Their roles haven’t been announced yet, but the film’s story is loosely based off of Payton’s experience coaching his son Connor’s sixth-grade Pop Warner team during his one-year suspension following the NFL’s “Bountygate” debacle, which occurred just two years after Payton’s team won Super Bowl XLIV. Filming is expected to begin later this year.

Netflix continues to feed our ‘Bridgerton’ obsession with new spinoff series

Give us all the ‘Bridgerton.’ And then give us more.

Fans of Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton have plenty to be excited about. Not only is filming currently underway on the second season and the series renewed through season 4, but there’s a new prequel series in the works that should have viewers excited.

Netflix announced a new Bridgerton spinoff series that will focus on Bridgerton characters Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) during their younger years.

The limited series will dive specifically into Queen Charlotte’s origin story.

“Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton,” Netflix’s Head of Global TV, Bela Bajaria, said in a statement.

“Shonda [Rhimes] and her team are thoughtfully building out the Bridgerton universe so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love. And by planning and prepping all the upcoming seasons now, we also hope to keep up a pace that will keep even the most insatiable viewers totally fulfilled.”

The series will delve into Queen Charlotte’s youth and love life. As fans know, Queen Charlotte ends up marrying King George III, where she serves as the highest order in the Bridgerton universe.

To say that fans are excited for more Bridgerton would be an understatement.

‘Shadow and Bone’ fans are losing it over an emotional support goat named Milo

Come for the fantasy plot, stay for the emotional support goat.

Netflix’s new fantasy series Shadow and Bone premiered on Friday, and everyone’s been talking about the adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling books, which could be the next big fantasy series.

But it’s not the amazing fantasy world or the compelling characters that has fans talking — although they certainly are — it’s an emotional support goat named Milo that has seemingly stolen the hearts of fans everywhere.

In the third episode of Netflix’s new fantasy series, the Crows — a band of misfits featuring Kaz, Inej and Jesper — decide to cross the Shadow Fold, a dangerous part of the Grishaverse that few cross, which doesn’t go according to plan.

When they’re attacked by a band of dangerous Volcra, a hilarious scene unfolds as Jesper begins freaking out only to turn to Milo the Goat for comfort amidst the chaos. And it seems as if fans have taken to Milo just as quickly and passionately as Jesper did.

Unfortunately, Milo’s presence was short-lived as Jesper gave him up as the Crows continued their journey, which left fans heartbroken.

But have we actually seen the last of Milo? After this reaction from fans, you have to believe Netflix will be looking to reunite Milo with Jesper should the series get a second season. At least that’s what we’re hoping for.

I mean, you can’t go wrong with an emotional support goat.

Shadow and Bone is now streaming on Netflix.

What we know about Bubba Wallace’s upcoming documentary series on Netflix

Netflix announced a new docuseries focused on Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing.

Bubba Wallace is coming to Netflix.

The streaming platform announced Thursday that it’s working on a documentary series about Wallace and his first season with 23XI Racing, the brand-new NASCAR Cup Series team co-owned by Michael Jordan and fellow driver Denny Hamlin.

Netflix didn’t offer too many details about the new series, and the title and when it’s expected to be released weren’t included.

However, it did note: “The series will take viewers behind the scenes of the 2021 NASCAR season through the eyes of the only Black driver at the top level of the sport, and will explore Wallace, 23XI Racing, and NASCAR’s efforts to advocate for inclusion and equality in racing and beyond.”

Netflix has had some success with racing content over the years, particularly with its popular docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive, which just debuted its third season last month prior to the start of the F1 season. While the project on Wallace will obviously have a different subject and angle, fans can only hope the new, behind-the-scenes series will be as captivating and well-crafted as Drive to Survive.

Erik Parker — who directed the 2017 TV documentary L.A. Burning: The Riots 25 Years Later — is the executive producer and director of Netflix’s latest racing series.
