Nebraska CB Target Gives Major Recruiting Update

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are a top-three finalist for a 2023 CB prospect.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers already were expected to be finalists for 2023 four-star cornerback prospect Braeden Marshall. On July 20, Marshall shared an image of him in five different uniforms, including Nebraska’s, and he shared that he will announce his decision on July 30.

Well, Nebraska’s odds to land Marshall just increased. On Twitter, Marshall stated that he is down to three schools: Nebraska, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine had UCF as the favorite to land Marshall, but they now appear to be out of the running.

247 Sports Composite ranks Marshall as the 40th-best cornerback in the 2023 class. He attends Lake Mary High School in Lake Mary, Florida.

Nebraska 4-Star Commit Will Visit Auburn

A 2023 Nebraska commit is set to visit Auburn.

2023 four-star edge rusher Ashley Williams Jr. is set to visit Auburn on July 30, according to On3’s Jeffrey Lee.

This is surprising news. Williams committed to Nebraska less than two weeks ago.

Williams explained his decision to Inside Nebraska’s Zach Carpenter.

“Really, it’s because they took me serious,” Williams said. “They talked to me a lot during my visit, a lot of the coaches were talking to me. That, by itself, showed me where the love’s at.”

247 Sports ranks Williams as the 34th-best edge rusher in the 2023 class.

Williams attends Zachary High School in Zachary, Louisiana. Last season, Williams recorded 89 tackles and 14 sacks.

Cornhuskers seen as a team to “watch out for” on the recruiting trail

Nebraska gets high marks on its recruiting efforts from one industry analyst.

A national analyst is deep diving into the Big Ten’s recruiting landscape. Rivals has decided to take a deeper look at the efforts of all 14 conference schools as we see the summer recruiting season wrapping up before the start of college football in 2022.

As we’ve discussed, the Huskers currently have 14 recruits committed to the class of 2023. According to Rival’s analysis, Nebraska currently has two 4-star players ( DE Ashley Williams of Louisana and WR Omarion Miller of Louisana), while the remaining 12 players are all 3-star recruits. Nine of the incoming players for 2023 are currently projected to play offense at the collegiate level, and five of the fourteen players are recruits coming from in-state.

This has been a better Husker recruiting effort than we’ve seen in the last several seasons. The addition of wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph is evidence of that, given that his history in the state of Louisana allowed him to poach two recruits from the state, and not just any two recruits but the two top recruits in the class. Those improved and expanded efforts, as well as a willingness to embrace the transfer portal, have placed the Huskers in a good position heading into this season and beyond.

Hopefully, these wins on the recruiting trail will lead to wins on the field sooner rather than later.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Offer 2023 4-Star DE From Mississippi

A 2023 four-star defensive end prospect received an offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

2023 four-star defensive end prospect Jamarious Brown has received an offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

247 Sports Composite ranks Brown as the 32nd-best edge rusher in the 2023 class. Last season, Brown had 84 total tackles, 16.0 tackles for loss, and five sacks per MaxPreps.

Brown has received 19 Division 1 offers. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Auburn listed as the favorite with a 37.3% chance, while Alabama is second at 17.1%.

Brown attends Moss Point High School in Moss Point, Mississippi. This is Nebraska’s second offer in the past week in the state of Mississippi. On July 13, 2023 three-star defensive line prospect Caleb Bryant received an offer from the Cornhuskers. Bryant attends Vicksburg High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

4-Star Nebraska OT Target Commits to Oklahoma

2023 four-star offensive tackle prospect Cayden Green has committed to Oklahoma over Nebraska.

2023 four-star offensive tackle prospect Cayden Green has committed to Oklahoma.

Nebraska was one of four finalists for Green. Missouri and LSU were also in the mix.

Green is the second offensive line prospect that the Cornhuskers have missed out on in the past two days after Amir Herring committed to Michigan on Thursday.

Green is the 12th-best offensive tackle in the 2023 class, according to 247 Sports’s composite rankings.

Green is the third top-100 player in the 2023 class to commit to the Sooners joining quarterback Jackson Arnold (32nd overall) and wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway (47th overall).

Currently, Nebraska has added two offensive tackles in the 2023 class: Gunnar Gottula (No. 46 OT) and Brock Knutson (No. 66 OT).

Texas linebacker becomes 13th commitment to the class of 2023

Nebraska continues to remain active on the recruiting trail

Nebraska received their second commitment on Tuesday after landing Texas linebacker Dylan Rogers. Rogers, who currently plays for Cy Woods High School, is the 13th commitment to the Cornhusker’s class of 2023. Just two weeks ago, the 3-star prospect announced his final six teams, which included Kansas State, Colorado, Houston, Missouri, and Texas.

The class of 2023 continues to take shape. All three primary recruiting services have the upcoming class in the Top 30. 247Sports and Rivals both have Nebraska’s recruiting rank as 27th overall and On3.com has the class ranked 28th overall.

Rogers is the second commitment Nebraska has received this week after having previously received the commitment of 4-star wide receiver Omarion Miller from Louisiana.

Georgia high school wide receiver commits to Cornhuskers for 2023

Scott Frost and company made another addition to the 2023 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon!!

The Nebraska Cornhuskers received the 11th commitment to their 2023 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon. Wide receiver Barry Jackson of Cedar Grove High School out of Ellenwood, Georgia, made the announcement on social media. The 5-11/175-pound athlete chose Nebraska over other power five programs such as Pittsburgh, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt.

Jackson joins Jaidyn Doss as the second wide receiver to commit to the Husker’s 2023 class. Five of the 11 recruits in the class are in-state, with seven of the eleven playing on the offensive side of the ball. Also, of the eleven commitments, every recruit listed is a 3-star prospect out of a possible 5-star across three different recruiting services, including Jackson. Husker’s 2023 recruiting class continues to take shape

Where do the Huskers stack up against the rest of the Big Ten?

Recruiting is an inexact science, and the current state of the Nebraska 2023 recruiting class is a perfect example of that. The Huskers currently have ten commitments to the upcoming class. The three primary recruiting services have very different opinions about how they view these ten commitments. The rankings now are as follows.

Rivals: 30th

On3: 33rd

247Sports: 24th

Five of the ten recruits in the class are in-state, with six of the ten playing on the offensive side of the ball. Also, of the ten commitments across three different services, every recruit listed is a 3-star prospect out of a possible 5-star except for one player in only one service. Lincoln Offensive Lineman Gunnar Gottula is ranked as a 4-star prospect from Rivals.

Regarding Big Ten recruiting class rankings, the Huskers are still trying to crack into the top half of the conference.

Rivals:10th out of 14

On3: 8th out of 14

247Sports: 9th out of 14

Nebraska still has multiple scholarships offers out and waiting to be accepted. The hope is that this class is still taking shape and won’t be ready until signing day, after the season.

Look below at the Nebraska recruiting class of 2023.

4-Star pass rusher visits Lincoln over the weekend

A big-time recruiting visit took place this weekend for Scott Frost and company!

A 4-star lineman originally from Staten Island, NY, made a visit to Lincoln this weekend to check out the Cornhusker program. Cameron Lenhardt, of IMG Academy out of Bradenton, Florida, made a visit to Scott Frost and company. The 6-3 240-pound defensive end originally started his career in New Jersey for famed high school program Don Bosco Prep before heading to the sunshine state.

Nebraska is currently considered one of the leading programs the edge rusher is considering, but he also has visits scheduled to Maryland, Michigan State, and Penn State. Rivals currently have Nebraska as the front runner for Lenhardt, while On3 says that Michigan State is the likely leader in the clubhouse. However, he’s also said that he is in no rush to make a commitment and will likely make a decision either during his senior season or after its conclusion.

Legacy recruit announces commitment to Cornhuskers

Nebraska received its fifth in-state commitment in the 2023 recruiting class.

The son of a former Husker all-American announced his commitment on Friday night. Elkhorn South edge rusher Maverick Noonan made his commitment to the Cornhuskers on social media. His father, Danny Noonan, played for Nebraska from 1983-1986 and was a consensus all-American following the ’86 season as an offensive tackle. He would then be selected in the first round of the 1987 draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

The 3-star recruit is the fifth in-state commitment and the tenth commitment overall to the Huskers 2023 recruiting class. Noonan had taken a trip to Palo Alto and Stanford University as late as last weekend. He had also received offers from Iowa, Iowa State, and Michigan State during his recruiting period.
