Nebraska offers 2027 running back Tyson Robinson

The Huskers offered one of the top running backs in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have become the latest program to offer class of 2027 running back Tyson Robinson. The 5-foot-9 tailback out of Brandon, Mississippi, is considered a four-star prospect across the recruiting industry.

In addition to his newest offer from the Huskers, Robinson has offers from Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Ole Miss Rebels, Missouri Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners, Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Tennessee Volunteers, and Washington Huskies, among others.

Through ten games this season, Robinson has carried the ball 119 times for 852 yards. He is averaging 7.2 yards per carry and has scored 18 touchdowns.

The Cornhuskers do not currently hold any commitments in their 2027 recruiting class but do hold two commitments in their 2026 recruiting class and 19 in their 2025 recruiting class.

Of those 19 commitments in the 2025 recruiting cycle, a pair are running backs in Connor Booth and Jamarion Parker.

UCLA Bruins surge in latest CBS College Football Ranking

UCLA and their Big Ten opponent moved up in the rankings.

The UCLA Bruins are finally hitting their stride this season as they enter the back half of the 2024 college football season. After starting 1-5, the Bruins have rallied to a 3-5 record and knocked off Nebraska for their latest win.

One notable college football ranking took notice.

After a slow start to the season, the Bruins climbed the CBS Sports College Football ranking, rising 14 spots from No. 90 to No. 76. Similarly, after their Big Ten beatdown of Wisconsin, the Bruins opponent this week, Iowa, jumped from No. 36 to No. 27.

Though the Bruins and the Hawkeyes are two very different programs, they share one thing in common: They are trending in the right direction at the right time of the season.

At 6-3, Iowa poses a threat to the Bruins’ two-game win streak. However, with UCLA hosting the Hawkeyes at the Rose Bowl, Iowa will be coming into a hostile environment with a Bruins team looking to pick up their first win at home this season.

Report: Huskers adding Dana Holgorsen as offensive consultant

The Huskers added Dana Holgorsen to the staff on Tuesday

Nebraska football has hired Dana Holgorsen as an offensive consultant for the program. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported this on Tuesday morning.

Holgorsen has held various coaching roles throughout his collegiate coaching career. He most prominently served as head coach for the West Virginia Mountaineers and Houston Cougars, compiling a 92-69 record during his tenure.

He also served in various offensive coordinator roles. He was the co-offensive coordinator and inside wide receivers coach for Texas Tech from 2005-2006 before formally taking over the role in 2007. He then went to Houston, where he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2008 to 2009.

Holgorsen is a disciple of the Mike Leach coaching tree, one typically known for an Air Raid offense.

Nebraska’s offense has struggled all season long. They rank No. 99 in total offense, averaging 354.1 yards per game. The Huskers also rank No. 100 in scoring offense, with a paltry 23.6 points per game.

The Huskers are looking to land bowl eligibility and get that sixth win of the season. They will take on the USC Trojans in two weeks.

Lincoln Riley benches Miller Moss as Jayden Maiava gets the start vs Nebraska

Quarterback Jayden Maiava will start for the Trojans in their upcoming matchup against Nebraska, replacing Miller Moss.

Here’s a big story in the world of USC football: It has been confirmed that Jayden Maiava will be promoted to starting quraterback when USC faces Nebraska in two weeks. Lincoln Riley benching Miller Moss is a decision that comes with some questions.

An obvious first question is this: Why are the Trojans allowing Nebraska two weeks’ notice to game-plan for the change?

Miller Moss and Maiava have different play styles, so releasing this news so early gives an unnecessary advantage to Nebraska in being able to plan for the change.

In terms of head coach Lincoln Riley, it seems as though this move can only negatively impact him.

If Maiava can turn around the team and his promotion to starter is positive, we will be forced to ask why Riley waited so long to make the change.

If the change is for the worse, Trojan fans will feel further confirmation that Riley needs to go and does not have what it takes to turn this program around.

One thing is clear: At least this team is trying. At least the coaching staff has not thrown in the towel, even though the season has not gone the way anybody hoped. Whether Maiava will be a positive change is yet to be seen, but developing the sophomore transfer against a beatable Nebraska team is something that should get fans excited.

Big Ten’s ‘big three’ lead the way in week ten rankings

Five Big Ten teams are ranked in the polls ahead of week ten.

The Big Ten Conference is again leading the way nationally in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll.

The Big Ten has three of the top five teams in the country heading into week ten, with the Oregon Ducks leading the way at No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches Polls. The Ducks received 61 of 62 first-place votes in the AP Poll and 53 of 54 first-place votes in the coaches poll.

The SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs was the only other program to receive first-place votes this week.

The Penn State Nittany Lions and Ohio State Buckeyes remain the No. 3 and No. 4. The two Big Ten powers will meet this week in Happy Valley for one of the biggest college football games this season.

After Ohio State, the next highest-ranked Big Ten team is the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers. After a blowout victory over the Washington Huskies, the Hoosiers remained at No. 13 in both polls.

The final Big Ten team ranked in this week’s polls was the Illinois Fighting Illini, who, after a weekend loss to Oregon, fell to No. 23 in the Coaches Poll, down three spots, and No. 24 in the AP Poll, down four spots.

No other Big Ten teams received votes in this week’s AP Poll, while the Michigan Wolverines received one vote in the coaches poll.

Ohio State wins appeal on Arvell Reese targeting call

Better late than never #GoBucks

Ohio State had to grind out a win over Nebraska this past Saturday. The Buckeyes didn’t play their best game by any measure, but there certainly were some officiating mishaps that left fans on both sides incensed.

The Cornhuskers were victims of an egregious call late in the second quarter when the referees spotted a ball a full two yards short of what the runner gained. The short spot left Nebraska with a third down instead of a first down. Ultimately, the Huskers would convert and get a field goal, but still, two yards short?

And then there was the targeting call late in the game against Arvell Reese. While it was a violent hit, the scoreboard replay showed the receiver caught the ball and took two steps before Reese lowered the boom, jarring the ball loose. After review, the officials confirmed the receiver did in fact make the catch but ruled that Reese was guilty of targeting.

The call sent both the fans and head coach Ryan Day into a frenzy, with some fans throwing debris on the field and Day getting a warning for his outburst over the injustice.

We learned on Monday that Ohio State appealed the call and the NCAA ruled that the penalty shouldn’t have been made, overturning the pennance.

Why is that important? Because the call was made late in the game, Reese would’ve had to sit the first half of the Penn State game this Saturday. Now that justice has been served, Reese will be available for the entire game.

The sophomore linebacker is quickly becoming an impact player for the Buckeye defense. Having Reese available for the entire game against the Nittany Lions is huge news for Ohio State.

UCLA’s win over Rutgers boosts chances vs. Nebraska

The chances are getting better.

The UCLA Bruins finally won their first-ever Big Ten Conference game by defeating Rutgers on the road. Then, UCLA had a bye week to rest and try to get things back in order.

In the first week of November, UCLA faces Nebraska on the road in Lincoln. The matchup is a difficult one with Dylan Raiola as the quarterback for the Cornhuskers.

Before the Rutgers game, ESPN gave UCLA just a 24% chance to defeat Nebraska.

However, that number has now increased to 32.1% after they knocked off the Scarlet Knights, as Mike Regalado points out.

Nebraska is coming off a close 21-17 loss to Ohio State and then a blowout loss on the road to Indiana, so they have dropped to 5-1 after a strong 5-1 start.

Kickoff is on Saturday, November 2, at 12:30 PM PST as UCLA tries to get the second Big Ten win of the season.

Huskers getting visit from four-star in-state tight end this weekend

Chase Loftin will be circling back to Lincoln for a visit.

2025 four-star tight end Chase Loftin is set to visit Nebraska football for their game against the UCLA Bruins in November, per Rivals.com’s Greg Smith. Loftin initially committed to the Florida State Seminoles on June 29.

Loftin is the 19th overall tight end in the 2025 class and the second overall player in his class from the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports composite rankings.  The Huskers were originally thought to have a good chance at landing Loftin over the summer, but he committed to the Seminoles at the end of June.

Landing Loftin would be a big get for a 2025 Nebraska class that ranks 25th nationally. Loftin measures six-foot-six, 215 pounds, and could be a big weapon for the Huskers. Nebraska already has one tight end in the class in Bear Tenney.

It will be interesting to see what the Huskers can do in this recruitment. Florida State is struggling this season, which could allow the program to make a strong impression on Loftin.
