Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes previews the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

The 2023 NCAA men’s basketball tournament will begin Tuesday with the First Four.

First-round games will tip off on Thursday.

Tennessee (23-10, 11-7 SEC) is a No. 4 seed in the East Region and will play Louisiana (26-7) in Orlando, Florida on Thursday.

The tip between the Vols and Louisiana is scheduled for approximately 9:40 p.m. EDT. CBS will televise the first-round matchup.

The Tennessee-Louisiana winner will advance to play the winner between Duke and Oral Roberts.

Lady Vols’ doubles team loses in NCAA Tournament

Lady Vols’ doubles team loses in NCAA Tournament.

Lady Vols’ doubles team of Tenika McGriffin and Daria Kuczer lost in the NCAA women’s doubles championship Wednesday.

McGriffin and Kuczer lost to Texas’ Allura Zamarippa and Peyton Stearns in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, in the round of 16 at Kahn Outdoor Tennis Center in Champaign, Illinois.

Zamarippa and Stearns won the NCAA team championship with the Longhorns last week in Champaign.

It was the final match of McGriffin’s career at Tennessee.

McGriffin, a graduate student, was co-captain for the Lady Vols. She won 41 matches in 2021-22, totaling 18 wins in singles and 18 doubles victories teaming with Kuczer.

McGriffin had six wins against ranked opponents in both singles and doubles this season. She had a combined 153 victories in her Tennessee career, winning 77 doubles matches and 76 in singles competitions.

NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional: Oregon State eliminates Lady Vols

Tennessee’s (41-18) 2022 season ended Sunday in the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional.

The Lady Vols lost a doubleheader to Oregon State (37-20) at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Oregon State won the first game, 8-3. Mariah Mazon hit a three-run home run and pitched a complete game. Mazon (16-10) surrendered three runs in the fifth inning. Rylie West had a two-run double plating Ivy Davis and Katie Taylor.

West scored on Kiki Milloy’s RBI single.

Ashley Rogers (12-6) pitched 1.1 innings, giving up one run, two hits and one walk. She struck out two for Tennessee.

The game was scoreless until Oregon State recorded three runs in the sixth inning. Mazon hit a two-run home run for the Beavers.

Tennessee scored on a solo home run by Ashley Morgan in the seventh inning.

The Beavers advanced from the regional with a 3-1 victory.
