Myles Garrett notches another milestone on his Hall of Fame resume

Texas A&M star Myles Garrett becomes the youngest NFL player to reach 100 sacks since 1982

Former Texas A&M star Myles Garrett once again solidified his status in the NFL record books on Sunday morning, recording his 100th career sack in 115 games.

In the second quarter of the game against the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, Garrett blew past the left guard to sack Joe Burrow, becoming the youngest player to reach 100 career sacks. That made him the 45th player to reach 100 sacks, and he was one of a handful of players to reach this milestone in his first eight seasons.

This is a major statical accomplishment, but Garrett wants to win and had this to say post-game.

“That’s a nice accomplishment, but we remember LT because he won and did all those things.”

Late last week, he made a few comments about how, while he would like to stay in Cleveland, there needs to be more of a commitment to winning now, and he is not sure that he wants to be in a rebuilding phase in the near future.

Garrett can easily be the Defensive Player of the Year each season, but it hurts his chances when you are on a losing team. However, as spectators, we can respect this accomplishment and wish him a long and healthy career.

Myles Garrett crosses another career milestone despite poor offensive showing vs Bengals

Myles Garrett now has 100 career sacks in less than eight seasons.

The Cleveland Browns did not come away with the win in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals, but that did not stop All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett from crossing another career milestone.

Racking up a sack on Joe Burrow in this game, Garrett how officially has crossed the 100-sack threshold for his career. Averaging double-digit sacks throughout his career, it took Garrett less than eight years to hit that mark. Taking into account a rookie season that started late due to an injury and another season that ended early with a suspension, this is quite an accomplishment.

The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year is now up to 12 sacks on the season with two games left to play in a down 3-12 year in Cleveland.

Garrett is well on his way to a gold jacket and likely gets the call as a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer. Hopefully, he retires in a Browns uniform despite his growing frustration.

When Myles Garrett says ‘dollar signs don’t win games’ it’s pretty clear who he’s talking about

Saying he wants to be involved in quarterback conversations this offseason, it’s clear who and what Myles Garrett is talking about.

All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett is giving the Cleveland Browns an ultimatum, and it is clear that it revolves around quarterback Deshaun Watson’s future.

Garrett told the media that he wants a detailed plan from the Browns this offseason about how they plan to stay competitive. He vehemently stated that he has no plans to be involved in another Cleveland rebuild.

When asked if he could see himself playing elsewhere, Garrett is holding the Browns accountable:

“I mean, it’s a possibility. But I want to be a Cleveland Brown. I want to play here. I want to end my career here. But if we choose to do a rebuild and it’s two, three, four years out, I want to be able to compete and play at a high level, play meaningful games and be playing past January.”

But what about what he said points to Watson? Let’s follow some of the quotes that Garrett said to the media:

Regarding whether or not he wants a plan from the Browns at the quarterback position: “Absolutely.”

Another interesting quote about the amount of money the Browns have spent on players, and perhaps who they are paying big money to: “Names on paper don’t win games… Dollar signs don’t win football games.”

The Browns got bottom-two quarterback play from Watson this season and that has been most of what they’ve gotten from him since he came to Cleveland and served his 11-game suspension. Make no mistake about what Garrett is saying and doing here.

He is holding the Browns accountable for the messy situation they created by trading for Deshaun Watson. And he wants to make sure he and his teammates don’t have to endure another year of it.

If the Browns are going to listen to anybody, it had to be their best player and community figure in Garrett. Smart enough to know it needed to be him, Garrett stepped up to the plate for the rest of the locker room.

Make no mistake: Myles Garrett knows the demands must come from him

Myles Garrett called out the Browns for answers, and he did it because he knew the demands had to come from him.

The Cleveland Browns will be hearing from their best player, Myles Garrett, this offseason after an abysmal season.

There are also little other ways to read into it: Garrett is talking about quarterback Deshaun Watson. Without publicly calling out his teammate and quarterback, Garrett told the Browns to can Watson or he would be gone.

And make no mistake, Garrett knows that if action is going to be taken, the demands have to come from him. The Browns traded Amari Cooper for quitting because of the quarterback, but Garrett? The Browns have to take Garrett seriously.

He is invested in the community, he is a part-owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and on the field, he is the best defensive player in football in his prime. He knows the Browns cannot live without him. This statement was premeditated and serves the purpose of saying what all the other 51 players in the locker room and all of Northeast Ohio have been thinking.

And good on Garrett for that. The Browns have no choice but to listen.

Myles Garrett publicly postures for an answer from the Browns

Myles Garrett has taken to the media to let the Browns know he will not commit without knowing their plan at the quarterback position

All-Pro defensive end and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett has publicly called out the Cleveland Browns for answers.

Speaking to the media today, Garrett declined to commit to the future in Cleveland, stating he and the organization are going to have a chat about the state of the franchise and how they will handle their ongoing future.

Here is what Cleveland’s best player had to say:

“I’m not trying to rebuild. I’m trying to win right now. And I want that to be apparent when the season is over and we have those discussions. I want them to be able to illuminate, illustrate that for me so that can be something I can see in the near future. Because that’s all we want to do.”

The media then followed up and asked him if he specifically wanted answers on the quarterback position, and Garrett vehemently confirmed:

“Whether DTR is the solution or someone else is, it’s got to be drawn out. There’s got to be a plan of action …”

Make no mistake, Garrett is a smart man. He knows that if the Browns are going to hear an ultimatum and act, it has to be from him. Now we wait and see how the Browns handle their business this offseason.

Chiefs OL Joe Thuney comments on position change vs. Browns: ‘Truly was a team effort’

Kansas City #Chiefs OL Joe Thuney comments on position change vs. Cleveland #Browns: ‘Truly was a team effort’ | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Joe Thuney spoke with reporters Sunday after the 21-7 victory over the Cleveland Browns. He addressed his surprising start at left tackle instead of his usual guard spot in place of D.J. Humphries.

“It felt good, and my coaches have done a great job preparing this for me all week,” said Thuney. “I have a lot of good guys, tight ends and running backs, around me, so they helped me with calls. Mike [Caliendo] was great at left guard, and it truly was a team effort to win and help be my best at guard.”

Thuney was tasked with slowing down Myles Garrett throughout the game as he held the pass rusher without a sack.

“It was a total team effort to block him. There was a lot of great chips and help from people like Mike [Caliendo],” said Thuney. “He was great in helping me as needed. It was a good team effort with good technique, and I went out there and did the best I could.”

Humphries could return next week for the Houston Texans’ matchup, depending on his hamstring. If Thuney can handle the new role for an extended period, he may not need to rush.

The Chiefs’ Joe Thuney showed great sportsmanship after accidentally poking Myles Garrett in the eye

That’s what sportsmanship is all about.

It was clear that something was wrong on Sunday when Browns star Myles Garrett immediately removed his helmet and went down in pain, grabbing his face.

It didn’t matter that the Chiefs had just scored a touchdown on the play. They all shared the same concern for Garrett.

Following the Chiefs’ second-quarter touchdown against the Browns in Week 15, replays would show that Chiefs guard Joe Thuney inadvertently caught Garrett around the eye. Garrett ultimately left the game with a towel over his eye — before returning later in the quarter — but it was obvious that Thuney felt terrible about what had happened.

As Garrett left the field with the training staff, the Chiefs guard went up to Garrett to check on him and to apologize.

We could also see as Mahomes was the one who called for trainers to get on the field.

That’s what sportsmanship is all about. Nobody wanted to see another player get hurt. And thankfully, Garrett would be fine.

Chiefs vs. Browns: TE Noah Gray continues hot streak with clutch touchdown

#Chiefs TE Noah Gray caught a touchdown pass from QB Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City’s Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland #Browns.

The Kansas City Chiefs continued their hot start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15 when Patrick Mahomes connected with budding tight end Noah Gray for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Gray has been among Kansas City’s most productive receivers this season and is proving to be one of Mahomes’ favorite targets, especially when plays break down.

His touchdown catch helped give the Chiefs a 14-point lead on the road before halftime and kept momentum on Kansas City’s side at Huntington Bank Field.

Take a look at this video of Gray’s impressive score, which was posted to Twitter by the Chiefs’ official account:

Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett went down on this play, and seemed to be seriously injured.

However, Garrett returned to the field later in the second quarter.

Stay tuned to see if Gray can keep his hot streak alive in the second half of Kansas City’s matchup against Cleveland.

Chiefs vs. Browns: Patrick Mahomes calls for help after Myles Garrett injury

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was quick to respond when #Browns DL Myles Garrett was hurt during Kansas City’s Week 15 matchup against Cleveland.

An injury scare involving star pass rusher Myles Garrett marred the first half of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

With about five minutes remaining in the second quarter, Garrett went down after what seemed like an innocuous play, throwing his helmet to the ground before collapsing on the turf.

Garrett was blocked by Chiefs lineman Joe Thuney and was clearly in pain after sustaining incidental contact on or around the left side of his helmet.

It wasn’t immediately clear what happened to Garrett. A slow-motion replay of the down didn’t seem to show that Thuney had poked Garrett in the eye, and the contact to the helmet looked to be relatively minor.

Patrick Mahomes rushed to Garrett’s side when he saw the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year was down on the field, and immediately urged medical personnel to tend to the veteran sack-master after the play.

Stay tuned for a better explanation of what happened to Garrett during the play.

Myles Garrett injury update: the latest on Browns star DE

Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett left the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with an eye injury.

Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett left the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with an eye injury.

The reigning defensive player of the year was trying to work around Chiefs’ offensive lineman Joe Thuney when he suffered the injury. It looked like Thuney may have inadvertently hit Garrett through his face mask. He is the second defensive starter to leave the game, following cornerback Martin Emerson Jr.

Garrett immediately threw off his helmet during the play and writhed on the ground in pain. Garrett was able to get immediate medical attention and walked off the field with trainers. He went right to the locker room.

The players on the Chiefs were incredibly worried about Garrett. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes flagged down medical trainers immediately after the play ended. Thuney made sure to console Garrett as he made his way off the field.

It was telling how much respect the Chiefs have for Garrett. Especially, as the team could’ve easily celebrated the touchdown they scored on the play.

The Browns put a visor on Garrett’s helmet as he continued to be examined by the medical staff. He is questionable to return.
