Adam Schefter shines light on Browns’ stance amidst Myles Garrett trade request

The Browns are “dug in” on Myles Garrett despite his trade request

The Cleveland Browns continue to navigate their newest mess, a Myles Garrett trade request, as they look to pick up the pieces from the failed Deshaun Watson experience.

However, despite Garrett’s torrid Radio Row media tour where he continued to affirm his desire for a trade, the Browns do not look like they will change their stance. ESPN’s Adam Schefter solidified that thought as well.

Schefter reports on The Pat McAfee Show that the Browns are “dug in” and will not entertain any trade offers for Garrett:

“We have a team here in the Cleveland Browns, I know that we get swept up in the moment, we got this Defensive Player of the Year requesting a trade out of Cleveland. This is not a surprise to the Browns. The Browns knew about his unhappiness and I think they have asked around and prepared for it. They’ve got some opinions on how to best handle this situation… I think they are dug in and entrenched in their stance that they arenot going to trade Myles Garrett.”

Teams do not trade core, foundational players. Teams do not trade future first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famers. Garrett can continue to make this messy if he would like, but it does not look like the Browns are changing their minds.

Until a trade occurs, do not expect a trade to occur.

Patriots insider floats trade consideration with No. 4 draft pick

One Patriots insider believes Myles Garrett would be worth the No. 4 draft pick

If the New England Patriots had an opportunity to trade the No. 4 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft for Cleveland Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett, that’s a move NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran believes the team should consider making.

Garrett requested a trade from the Browns in a public statement. The Patriots could be in the market for an elite pass-rusher, and Garrett would upgrade their defense significantly.

“He would, to me, be worthy of considering giving up the fourth overall pick for,” Curran said on WEEI’s “Jones and Keefe,” as transcribed by NESN.com’s Gayle Troiani. “Say Myles Garrett says, ‘I’ll go to this team, that team, that team, that team,’ and the Patriots are able to put a structure together, I would include the fourth overall pick for him and not bat an eye about paying him because he is that good.”

Garrett is coming off a 2024 season that saw him record 14 sacks and 47 combined tackles. He also had 28 quarterback hits. He made the Pro Bowl for the eighth year in a row and continues to be one of the most feared pass-rushers in the NFL.

In 2023, he was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Curran indicated that the fourth overall selection for Garrett would be reasonable given that he believes the Patriots would not land a generational talent if they drafted a player.

Although Curran believes the Patriots’ chances of getting Garrett are “low,” he does think the defender is worthy of the high draft pick.

New England could use a dominant pass-rusher like Garrett, as they recorded only 28 sacks on the year. Patriots Wire’s Jordy McElroy mocked the scenario in a recent seven-round 2025 NFL mock draft.

Sure, it’s a far-fetched scenario, but it isn’t an impossible one.

Von Miller on future with Buffalo Bills: ‘I want to be here’

Von Miller on future with Buffalo Bills: ‘I want to be here’

The 2025 offseason will be filled with important decisions for the Buffalo Bills that will steer the franchise going forward.

The team has 16 free agents to be mindful of this offseason, but one of the team’s most important decisions will be regarding a player already under contract.

Veteran and likely Hall of Fame edge rusher Von Miller’s future in Buffalo is largely up in the air.

His age (36 in March), recent injury history (2022 ACL and meniscus tear), and contract (owed $17.5M in 2025) make him a cut candidate for Bills general manager Brandon Beane.

Instead of paying a base salary of $17.5 million in 2025, the Bills could cut Miller and save about $8.5 million on the salary cap.

Miller addressed his future with the Bills following the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game:

“However long my key card works in this building, I’m gonna keep coming up in here and I’m going to keep coming in and trying to make [a Super Bowl] happen. I want to be here. I plan on being a Buffalo Bill for sure.”

Over his three years in Buffalo, Miller has appeared in 36 games and started in 11. He has 14 sacks over that time, with eight coming in 2022, zero in 2023 (recovering from knee surgery), and six in 2024.

His 2024 season got off to a rough start as he was hit with a suspension that sidelined him for four games early in the year. However, he played well in the second half of 2024.

He led the entire NFL in quarterback pressure rate after Week 13 (25.5%). He was playing only limited snaps, but he was playing at an elite level when he was on the field.

Now, the Bills are forced to make a decision on Miller, who was signed in 2022 in hopes of getting Buffalo “over the hump” and playing in the Super Bowl. With a couple more injuries and a few more years under Miller’s belt, his $17.5 million salary in 2025 doesn’t look great from a cap perspective.

If the Bills and Miller part ways, his replacement on the edge could come via a trade. Rumors of the Bills trading for a defensive end have been swirling since the season’s end, especially since Myles Garrett requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. This left Bills fans wondering about the possibilities of Garrett in Buffalo, and even left tackle Dion Dawkins showed his best recruiting efforts to land the star edge rusher.

If Beane and the Bills are looking for a splash on the defensive line this off-season, Garrett, Maxx Crosby, and Trey Hendrickson are names to watch.

The Bills’ front office has plenty to work on regarding roster construction, but the decision with Miller seems like it would need to be one of the first dominos to fall.

Cameron Jordan won’t go looking for a trade: ‘I’m black and gold forever’

Cameron Jordan won’t request a trade to chase a Super Bowl ring — and doesn’t feel he needs to. He wants to remain a New Orleans Saints lifer:

Myles Garrett has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns, but don’t expect Cameron Jordan to follow suit. Garrett and Jordan are at two different points of their careers, but Kay Adams told the New Orleans Saints defensive end he was the first person Adams thought about when she heard the news.

Jordan questioned why, but didn’t let her answer before affirming: “I’m not asking for a trade from anywhere. I’m black and gold forever.”

This is a common sentiment from Jordan, so it may not seem out of the ordinary. However, he did consider forcing his way out during the regular season, so it was refreshing to hear him express this.

So why did Adams think about Jordan in relation to Garrett’s trade request. Adams said the reasons for wanting out would be the same, and she has a point. Garret is in his prime, while Jordan has more time behind him than in front of him.

Players in both categories would want to be in best position to win a ring now, due to an understanding their window could close soon in different ways.

If you ask Jordan, he is in the best place to win a ring. Injuries were costly in 2024. New Orleans lost their entire interior offensive line. By the time Spencer Rattler was leading the team, he was dealing with makeshift weapons and a pieced-together offensive line.

Without these injuries, Jordan still sees the Saints as a championship team. With a healthy roster, they’re better than 5-12, but it’s hard to say championships are on the horizons when they’ve missed the playoffs four years in a row.

Jordan has always been an optimist. That optimism was on full display with Adams, and if he has his way he’ll continue to be the optimist in the New Orleans locker room as his career draws to a close.

Browns star Myles Garrett absolutely roasts Titans

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has requested a trade, but you can cross the Tennessee Titans off the list of potential destinations.

Super Bowl week is always good for some news. For fans of the Tennessee Titans, it has already provided some interesting commentary from some former players and a few pending free agents. With the Titans holding the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft in April, there has also been a lot of speculation about what direction they are going to take and what players they may be interested in.

One news story that came out that doesn’t directly concern Tennessee is All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett asking the Cleveland Browns for a trade. Of course, the news started ripples across the social media landscape with fans coming up with trade scenarios for their franchises.

Unfortunately, for Titans fans, it appears that Garrett wants no part of Nashville.

His comments speak volumes about the current state of the franchise and why it is imperative that the new regime, along with Brian Callahan, turn things around. He isn’t wrong, as constructed the Titans are nowhere close to being a contender and for an aging veteran, that is a deal breaker in any type of transaction.

There is also no guarantee that the Titans would even be interested. After their offseason spending spree last year blew up in their faces, the new braintrust has said they are going to take a more conservative approach at building their roster. Between the money and the draft capital, making a move for Garrett doesn’t fit the model they are talking about.

There is no doubt Garrett is a game-wrecker, but for fans dreaming about him playing in Tennessee, unless he comes in as a visitor, it’s not going to happen.

Twitter reacts to NFL Network putting Myles Garrett’s name for Pat Surtain

Hey NFL Network, that’s Pat Surtain, not Myles Garrett.

Denver Broncos star cornerback Pat Surtain was named the NFL’s 2024 Defensive Player of the Year during NFL Honors on Thursday evening after finishing with 330 points in Associated Press voting.

Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson was second with 205 points and Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Myles Garrett was third with 162 points.

Although Surtain lapped the competition, the NFL Network and Fox broadcast must have mistakenly prepared for Garett to win the award.

During Surtain’s acceptance speech on Thursday, the broadcast displayed Garett’s name on the screen below PS2. Here’s a sampling of how fans on Twitter/X reacted to the mix-up during the show:

Here is Surtain’s acceptance speech:

Surtain, 24, is the seventh cornerback to ever win the award and the second Bronco in franchise history to take home the honor, joining Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Randy Gradishar (1978).

Surtain is also the first cornerback to win DPOY and have two first-team All-Pro selections within his first four seasons in the NFL. Garrett won DPOY in 2023, but it was PS2 who took home the honor on Thursday.

Myles Garrett finished third in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting

Myles Garrett still finished with more votes than T.J. Watt… again.

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is once again in the headlines.

This time, it has nothing to do with his recent request for a trade away from the team that took him first overall in the 2017 NFL draft. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year failed to defend his title this year as Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II has brought home the hardware.

Garrett finished in third place in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting this season.

Garrett did, however, once again finish with more first-place votes than Pittsburgh Steelers’ pass rusher T.J. Watt. Overall, Garrett finished with a total of 162 votes: five first-place votes, 11 second-place votes, and 12 third-place votes among them.

Surtain II, the winner, finished with 26 first-place votes, while Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson finished second with 11 first-place votes.

As Garrett looks to reclaim his crown as the NFL Defensive Player of the Year next year, let’s hope it is once again in a Browns uniform.

Myles Garrett consulted another Cleveland legend before making his trade request

The Browns star reached out to another future first ballot Hall of Famer for guidance in requesting a trade

Myles Garrett has formally requested his trade from the Cleveland Browns, but not without consulting and seeking advice from important Cleveland figureheads first: LeBron James.

According to ESPN’s Browns report Daniel Oyefusi, Garrett even reached out to Akron’s own James, who similarly moved on from his hometown Cavaliers when he felt it was the time. He did so twice after returning to Cleveland and delivering a championship, before setting off to Hollywood for his final career arc.

Not much about that conversation was disclosed, other than Garrett asking for advice and what a transition may look like.

Garrett’s connection to Ohio isn’t as deeply rooted as LeBron’s, but his tenure with the Browns has helped him form a bond with the city. Following a 3-14 season and turning 30 next season, most would have had their minds up by mid-season, but this was a decision Garrett sat on and considered both sides greatly for, otherwise he would not have spoken to Berry or James.

Garrett boasts a fair amount of star power and influence in Cleveland, though no one is touching James’ status anytime soon. James had far more control of his situation than Garrett would with his. The front office has not indicated they’ll be trading Garrett and has publicly dismissed the idea, so the standoff is likely to last deep into the off-season.

While Garrett’s trade request may drag through the off-season, the situation could gain clarity during the NFL combine at the end of February, when decision-makers start having conversations about key decisions for the following season.

Stars around the league make their pitch to Myles Garrett

The Browns star has recruiters around the league already

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has been busy this week on his Radio Row media tour.

The reason? To get his name out there after requesting a trade from Cleveland earlier this week.

The NFL and its star players have taken notice of the news surrounding Garrett’s trade request and his clear intention to leave the team. Bills defensive tackle Dion Dawkins and 49ers tight end George Kittle are two of the latest players to comment on the potential trade.

When asked which NFL player he would like to add to the Bills roster, Dawkins said, “Myles Garrett, right now, come rock with us. Let’s win a Super Bowl.”

While a trade to an AFC team would be difficult, Garrett would be an immediate upgrade to any NFL roster, especially a contender like Buffalo.

Kittle also weighed in on Garrett’s situation during an appearance on FanDuels Up & Adams show:

“I think Fred (Warner) would love to have another solid defensive lineman to make his job easier,” Kittle said. He also joked that he and Garrett could be best friends if the star defender were to join the 49ers via trade.

Recruitment season has officially begun this NFL offseason, and Myles Garrett is the player everyone wants. Rumors will continue to swirl as more players try to convince him to join their teams, despite him being under contract with Cleveland until 2026.

The Browns also have the second overall pick, so it remains to be seen what type of future they will build with the potential return of their star defender.

David Njoku makes shirtless plea for Myles Garrett to stay

Garrett’s fellow 20174 NFL draft first round pick has made a public plea

Myles Garrett is not the only Cleveland Browns player on Radio Row at the Super Bowl, as tight end David Njoku has also been caught on the scene.

And in classic Njoku fashion, the Pro Bowl tight end is not wearing a shirt just like it is a pregame ritual in 20-degree weather. On Radio Row, however, Njoku sat down with the guys at Bleacher Report to discuss the future of the Browns, including the trade request made by Garrett, who did a media tour of his own.

In the interview, Mike Golic Jr. asks Njoku if he has any public plea for Garrett. Njoku responded:

“Come on, dawg, stay home, bro… Stay home, come on, give it another shot. We ain’t that far off, honestly speaking, so.”

Njoku furthered his plea to his fellow 2017 NFL draft first round pick:

“That’s my brother, man. We came in the same time, the same round. We’ve been here the same amount of time. We’ve seen the lowest of the lows and the highest of the highs in our team… I don’t think we’re done yet. I know he wants to win, wants to be great, wants to be a champion. So do I… Stay home baby. We already got this far. We didn’t come this far just to come this far.”

As for how close the Browns are? Njoku thinks they may be just one piece away:

“I think we’re close, man. I think we just need a healthy, good quarterback.”

The Browns have publicly stated they will not entertain trading their future first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer. Can Njoku and the Browns get Garrett to buy back in for the 2025 season though?
