Take a look at some of Wisconsin football’s new fre
Earlier this week, Wisconsin football took its player photos for the upcoming season and some Badgers released their personal favorites on social media.
There were several cool previews for next season in the posts, including the first look at some of Wisconsin’s incoming freshmen and transfers fully suited up in their uniforms. A photo from running back Braelon Allen also shows Chez Mellusi wearing No. 1 compared to being No. 6 last year.
Even though it is not quite fall camp yet, seeing the players in their uniforms makes me anticipate Wisconsin’s opener against Illinois State on Sept. 3 even more.
Here are some of the Badgers’ player photos for the upcoming 2022 season:
Wisconsin took just one quarterback in it’s 2022 recruiting class. I breakdown Wisconsin’s recruiting process and grade the newest quarterback addition.
The Wisconsin badgers signed 14 scholarship players during the early signing period of the 2022 recruiting cycle this past Wednesday. And while that number is subject to change, Wisconsin’s class currently ranks 44th in the country, and 11th in the Big Ten – with an average recruiting ranking of (0.874), per 247 sports.
In part one of a position by position recruiting evaluation series, I will be handing out grades for each position from the early signing period – beginning with quarterbacks.
QUARTERBACK: C
Commits (1): Myles Burkett.
Other offers (2): Devin Brown (Ohio State), Brady Allen (Purdue).
Wisconsin missed on their top target Devin Brown, who Paul Chryst and company were all in on at one point. Some even felt as though Wisconsin was the favorite to secure Brown’s services late in his recruitment. Once Brown committed to USC, Wisconsin was forced to pivot to their plan B, knowing they would still be needing a quarterback in the 2022 cycle.
Paul Chryst would then extend an offer to in state quarterback Myles Burkett from Franklin, Wisconsin. Due to Covid-19, Wisconsin hadn’t even evaluated Burkett in person. Burkett would of course go on to accept the offer from Wisconsin and was the only quarterback taken in the class.
Myles Burkett is a three-star recruit per 247 sports (41st ranked QB/7th ranked player in WI).
As a senior, Myles Burkett completed 206 of 289 passes (71%) for 3,427 yards and 36 touchdowns with just 4 interceptions. He also helped lead Franklin to a 14-0 record and Division 1 state championship.
• Gatorade Player of the Year for Wisconsin
• Named winner of Dave Krieg Award, given to the top quarterback in Wisconsin
• Named conference player of the year three times
• Two-time WFCA first-team all-state selection.
Conclusion:
In my opinion, this is a signing that would be far less exciting if he weren’t an in-state player. Burkett is an accurate passer, has some mobility (although he’s not a dual threat type), and is a natural leader. He isn’t a player who is going to wow you with his arm strength, but there is more than enough to work with here to remain optimistic about his chances of developing into a starting caliber quarterback.
Overall, it’s hard to justify more than a “C” given the miss on Brown. I would have liked to see Wisconsin take two quarterbacks in this class, because it’s evident that the position still leaves something to be desired within the program. Until Wisconsin strikes gold, it may be difficult to take that illustrious “next step” as a program.

Myles Burkett put together one of the best seasons in Wisconsin high school football history, and was rewarded with one of the state’s highest honors.
Burkett was named The Associated Press state high school football player of the year on Thursday.
It was a historic year for the Badger class of 2022 commit, who threw for 36 touchdowns with only four interceptions. Burkett threw for 3,427 yards and completed 71.3% of his passes.
The crowning achievement, however, had nothing to do with individual starts. Burkett’s Franklin Sabers took down Sun Prairie in a 38-17 win to take home the Division 1 state title. Hopefully it was the first of many wins Burkett will be a part of at Camp Randall Stadium.

Wisconsin class of 2022 commit Myles Burkett helped Franklin cap off an undefeated season and capture a Division 1 State Championship last night, leading his team to a 31-17 victory over Sun Praire.
Burkett was recently awarded the 2021 Dave Krieg Award, an honor given to the most outstanding senior quarterback in the state of Wisconsin. His performance last night only proved the voters right, as he threw for a record-setting 276 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The incoming recruit is a three-star recruit on 247Sports.com and is ranked as the No. 689 player in the class of 2022, No. 41 quarterback and No. 7 recruit from the state of Wisconsin.
Here are some of the best highlights from Burkett’s state championship-winning effort:

It’s been a fantastic final season for Wisconsin 2022 commit Myles Burkett and Franklin High School. The future Badger quarterback has led the Sabers to a 13-0 record, and a WIAA championship game appearance against Sun Prairie set for Friday afternoon at Camp Randall.
His senior season numbers are off the charts, as the Badger commit is completing 71.4% of his passes for 3,151 yards and 33 passing touchdowns. The dual-threat quarterback has also racked up 4 rushing touchdowns on the year.
As a result of Franklin’s season and Burkett’s accomplishments, he has been named the 2021 Dave Krieg Award winner for most outstanding senior quarterback in the state of Wisconsin. The award is given out annually by the Wisconsin Sports Network.
The future Badger has had a tremendous season with Franklin
Wisconsin 2022 QB commit Myles Burkett took an official visit to Madison on June 17. Since that official visit, he has yet to lose a high school game at Franklin.
Burkett’s senior season with the Franklin Sabers is off to a perfect 10-0 start, as this week his team won their WIAA Level 1 playoff game over Milwaukee Riverside in a 62-12 route.
Burkett has been close to perfect on the year, throwing for 28 touchdowns and only a pair of interceptions, rushing for 7.9 yards per carry and four rushing touchdowns, and helping to lead his team to an unblemished record through ten weeks.
The three-star prospect will be a Wisconsin Badger next season, but will hope to finish out his high school career with a state championship. Burkett and the Sabers take on Oak Creek this Friday in their WIAA Level 2 playoff game.
The Wisconsin Badgers landed their first 2022 commit when QB Myles Burkett chose UW this weekend.
