The Michigan State Football coaching staff put their own spin on the Full House intro in a hilarious Tik Tok video.

In this edition of, ‘The most 2020 thing I’ve seen all week’, the Michigan State Football team has officially created a Tik Tok account, and I have to give them some credit because they put out a pretty hilarious video to launch the new account of the coaching staff in a funny take on the Full House intro.

Here are a few of my favorite moments:

  • Special Teams Coordinator Ross Els using an elaborate Ferris Bueller-esque setup to chill on the couch during the quarantine.
  • Offensive Line Coach Chris Kapilovic pushing car because of course the offensive line coach is pushing a car.
  • Defensive Line Coach Ron Burton sinking a putt. Great form. This was my Masters moment.

Michigan State Football has a new head coach in Mel Tucker, and he recently completed his coaching staff, but those coaches are still adding assistants under them. The latest addition to the coaching staff announced his new position today on Twitter in former North Carolina tight end Jack Tabb. Tabb will be working under Courtney Hawkins as an Assistant Wide Receivers Coach.

Tabb was recently working as a graduate assistant with North Texas. Before that, he had a brief tryout stint with the New Orleans Saints that concluded in 2016.

Tabb was a 3-star prospect when he graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in New Jersey back in 2011. He spent four years with the Tarheels where he totaled 534 yards in receiving yards and scored 5 touchdowns over the course of his career.

Here is what every Michigan State Football coach will be making in 2020

Mel Tucker’s first staff at Michigan State is now finalized. Here is what they will be making in 2020.

[jwplayer QqK6zJME]

When Michigan State Football hired their new head coach in Mel Tucker, not only did they give him a very competitive salary, they also agreed to give him a $6 million salary pool to hire his staff. Today, media members, including Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, were given access to the salaries of every MSU coach on Tucker’s staff, and we rounded those salaries up below:

According to Chris Solari, the Spartans have used $5,844,385 of Tucker’s allotted salary pool. The interesting thing for me is Tressel’s salary. Tucker is using a not-insignificant amount of his salary pool to keep Tressel at the salary he made last year as the defensive coordinator.

This is the second contract of the new MSU coaches under Mel Tucker that have been released. Offensive Line Coach Chris Kapilovic’s salary has also been reported to be receiving $700,000 per year.

There are nine new coaches and fifteen total new staff members that have been announced so far during the Mel Tucker era, all of which you can find here, and it will certainly be interesting to keep an eye on the salaries as they are released. Michigan State made a sizable investment in Coach Tucker and his staff, increasing the salary pool for supporting coaches up to $6 million. Coach Hawkins’ salary is $68,153 more than former MSU Wide Receivers Coach Don Treadwell.

Before joining the Spartans, Hawkins was the athletic director and head coach of Flint Beecher High School for the past 14 years. Before that he spent nine seasons in the NFL.

Michigan State Football hires Jason Novak as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

Michigan State Football and Mel Tucker have hired Jason Novak as their new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, replacing Ken Mannie.

[jwplayer RJySF4hX]

In the past 24 hours, Michigan State has hired a new defensive coordinator, director of player personnel, and finally a new head strength and conditioning coach in Jason Novak, effectively solidifying Mel Tucker’s staff for the 2020 Football season.

Novak spent last season at IMG Academy, based in Florida, serving as their head of physical conditioning. Novak started his career as a grad assistant for Baylor and Stephen F. Austin before joining Alabama State’s strength and conditioning program from 200-03. Novak had his first lead strength and conditioning role at Yale in 2003-04 before leaving for the NFL where he spent 11 years working as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Tennessee Titans between 2004-15.

Novak then made his way to the State of Michigan where he was the director of strength and conditioning at Central Michigan before heading to IMG Academy.

Novak will be replacing the long-time MSU Football strength and conditioning coach Ken Mannie who retired a few weeks back.

Report: MSU Football hires Scott Aligo of Akron as Director of Player Personnel

Michigan State Football has reportedly signed Scott Aligo from Akron as their new Director of Player Personnel.

[jwplayer RJySF4hX]

According to a report from Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Michigan State Football has hired Scott Aligo to be their new Director of Player Personnel. Aligo currently holds that position with the University of Akron in Ohio.

This is very interesting because we were originally under the impression that Geoff Martzen would be occupying that position, as that was his role at Colorado and it was already announced that he was heading to MSU with Tucker, but Feldman also indicated that Martzen would take on the role of Chief of Staff.

Feldman broke the news about Mel Tucker and he is extremely credible so I would expect this to be accurate. According to the University of Akron website, Aligo has a long history of both college and NFL experience. He has had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs as a player personnel assistant, the Cleveland Browns in a similar role, and he was a defensive assistant with Texas A&M between 2012-14, among numerous other roles.

MSU Football: Mel Tucker adds former Spartan Courtney Hawkins to staff as Wide Receivers Coach

Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker has added his fourth official assistant coach to his staff in wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins.

We have another update in the great ‘Mel Tucker coaching staff watch’ of 2020. As MSU Football’s new head coach rounds out his staff, he has recruited a Spartan great into the fold in Courtney Hawkins. Hawkins will join the team as the Wide Receivers Coach. He was most recently acting as the head football coach and athletic director at Flint Beecher, his alma mater.

Hawkins played under George Perles from 1988 to 1991 before spending nine years in the NFL playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Here is Tucker’s statement on the hire:

“Courtney Hawkins was a phenomenal player here at Michigan State who went on to have a very successful career in the NFL,” Tucker said. “He’s shown tremendous leadership serving as both the athletic director and head football coach at Flint Beecher High School. I’m really excited to get him here on campus.”

Hawkins was named to the All-Big Ten team twice while with Michigan State and is currently sixth in program history in receiving yards. Hawkins is the fourth official coach joining the program, following Chris Kapilovic (Offensive Line), Ron Burton (Defensive Line), and Mike Tressel (unannounced position).
