Report: Michigan State football tabs Saeed Khalif as new Director of Player Personnel

Michigan State lost their Director of Player Personnel Scott Aligo to Kansas and Mel Tucker wasted little time finding his replacement.

Not long after Michigan State’s Director of Player Personnel Scott Aligo left for his alma mater Kansas, Mel Tucker has tabbed a replacement. Saeed Khalif appears to be the next man in line to take the role and replace Aligo.

Khalif currently holds the Director of Player Personnel role at Wisconsin, a spot in which he has been a huge contributor to their recent recruiting success.

Khalif was a standout defensive lineman at Georgia Tech in the 80s. Since his playing days, he has spent time in a support role with Georgia Tech as well as the defensive coordinator of Savannah State before taking over at Wisconsin.

The Spartans recruiting efforts should get a huge bolster with the addition of Khalif. A strong hire by Mel Tucker to replace Aligo.

On Monday, the Michigan State football staff took a sizable hit as MSU’s Director of Player Personnel, Scott Aligo, was reported to have accepted a job for Kansas as their Director of Scouting. The news was first reported by The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.

Aligo has strong college and NFL experience and has been considered a strong part of the team. After just one season with the Spartans, Aligo will now take a larger role with Kansas, a testament to Mel Tucker’s ability to spot great talent for his staff, although I’m sure he would’ve preferred to keep him in East Lansing for a bit longer.

Report: MSU Football hires Scott Aligo of Akron as Director of Player Personnel

Michigan State Football has reportedly signed Scott Aligo from Akron as their new Director of Player Personnel.

[jwplayer RJySF4hX]

According to a report from Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Michigan State Football has hired Scott Aligo to be their new Director of Player Personnel. Aligo currently holds that position with the University of Akron in Ohio.

This is very interesting because we were originally under the impression that Geoff Martzen would be occupying that position, as that was his role at Colorado and it was already announced that he was heading to MSU with Tucker, but Feldman also indicated that Martzen would take on the role of Chief of Staff.

Feldman broke the news about Mel Tucker and he is extremely credible so I would expect this to be accurate. According to the University of Akron website, Aligo has a long history of both college and NFL experience. He has had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs as a player personnel assistant, the Cleveland Browns in a similar role, and he was a defensive assistant with Texas A&M between 2012-14, among numerous other roles.
