2020 MLB Futures Odds: How many games will the Los Angeles Dodgers win?

Looking at 2020 MLB futures odds for how many games the Los Angeles Dodgers will win in the 60-game MLB season.

How many games will the Los Angeles Dodgers win in the 60-game 2020 MLB season? We look at the Dodgers’ MLB futures odds, including their projected 2020 win total and Over/Under odds at BetMGM, and make our best bet.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2019 recap

The 2019 Dodgers went 106-56 (.654), winning the National League West by a whopping 21 games. LA’s record – a mark buoyed by a 59-22 performance at home – was the best in the NL. But the Dodgers’ season ended in disappointment, falling to the Washington Nationals in a deciding Game 5 of an NL Division Series.

The top-notch record was a supportable one – the Dodgers averaged 5.5 runs per game while allowing just 3.8. Los Angeles was remarkably consistent playing over-.600 baseball in five of six months during the season. The Dodgers were often an expensive proposition on sides, and bettors were nonetheless rewarded at a handsome clip. LA went a robust 35-9 (+11.4% ROI) when tagged with a price of -200 or more.

Los Angeles Dodgers offseason

Gone are starting pitchers Rich Hill and Kenta Maeda, who combined for 15 quality starts a year ago. But fresh faces in Dodger Blue this year include OF Mookie Betts (30.6 WAR over the last four years), SP David Price (xFIP under 4.00 over last 68G) and RP Blake Treinen (2.31 ERA over 156 IP in 2017-18, struggled in 2019).

Los Angeles Dodgers 2020 schedule

LA’s 2020 schedule will include 40 games against NL West Division foes and 20 games vs. the AL West. Five of the Dodgers’ nine road trips will be within 400 miles of Chavez Ravine.

The Dodgers Over/Under win total is tabbed as a 37.5 with the Over carrying -143 odds and the Under at +120. Figuring the team’s strength of schedule and its strength as an organization at all levels (a big key in 2020), 38-PLUS WINS IS A SOLID PLAY. A price closer to -135 makes it a value play.

Los Angeles Dodgers World Series odds

The Dodgers are the favorite to win the World Series with odds of +350 – the New York Yankees are next in the line and the AL favorite at +400). The Dodgers’ +350 is a fair price – not a ton of value, but one worthy of inclusion in a field if you’re inclined to go that way.

Los Angeles Dodgers playoff odds

LA is a heavy favorite (-667) to win the NL West. Talking yourself into any other West price is difficult, so -667 may indeed be a plus.

2020 MLB Futures Odds: How many games will the Washington Nationals win?

Looking at 2020 MLB futures odds for how many games the Washington Nationals will win in the 60-game MLB season.

How many games will the Washington Nationals win in the 60-game 2020 MLB season? We look at the Nationals’ MLB futures betting odds, including their projected 2020 win total and Over/Under odds at BetMGM, and make our best bet.

Washington Nationals 2019 recap

The Nationals snuck into the 2019 postseason at 93-69 as the first National League wild-card team. They went on to win the World Series in seven games over the heavily-favored Houston Astros. They ranked sixth in all of baseball with 873 runs scored in the regular season. The aggregate 3.53 ERA from their starting pitchers ranked second to only the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Nats went 84-83-12 against the Over/Under for bettors last season, including the postseason. Their 102-77 combined record against the run line was the second-best cover percentage at 57 percent.

Washington Nationals offseason

The Nationals lost arguably their best batter for the second offseason in a row, as 3B Anthony Rendon left via free agency to join the Los Angeles Angels. 2B Starlin Castro and 1B Eric Thames signed as free agents. RP Will Harris was signed to bolster a bullpen that was an obvious weakness in 2019.

1B Ryan Zimmerman and P Joe Ross, per USA TODAY Sports’ Bob Nightengale, have decided not to take part in the season.

Washington Nationals 2020 schedule

The Nationals’ 60-game schedule will include 40 games against NL East opponents, which Washington went 44-32 against last season. The division will be strong in 2020, with the Atlanta Braves remaining the top contender and all three of the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins set to improve on disappointing season.

The Nats will also play 20 games against the American League East. The New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays are the top contenders, there, while the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles present win opportunities.

How many games will the Washington Nationals win in 2020?

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday, July 1 at 11:30 a.m. ET.

The Nationals’ 2020 win total is set at 33.5 with -110 odds on both the Over and Under. The OVER (-110) is the play at a conservative line for the World Series champs. The rotation remains one of the best in baseball, and the likes of Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin will be leaned on heavily in the abbreviated season.

Washington Nationals World Series odds

Washington is +2000 to win the 2020 World Series. It shares the sixth-best overall odds with the Tampa Bay Rays, while trailing only the Braves (+1400) among NL East teams. It is well worth a bet with a $10 investment returning a profit of $200.

Washington Nationals playoff odds

Following suit of the World Series odds, the Nationals trail only the Braves (+180) in the odds to win the NL East at +240. This is worth another wager, as the champs have had an extended period to recover from their World Series hangover and won’t face the added pressure of opposing fans.

2020 MLB Futures Odds: How many games will the New York Yankees win?

Looking at 2020 MLB futures odds for how many games the New York Yankees will win in the 60-game MLB season.

How many games will the New York Yankees win in the 60-game 2020 MLB season? We look at the Yankees’ MLB futures odds, including their projected 2020 win total and Over/Under odds at BetMGM, and make our best bet.

New York Yankees 2019 recap

The 2019 Yankees played .636 baseball, going 103-59 en route to capturing the American League East flag by seven games (over the Tampa Bay Rays). The Bronx Bombers were the No. 2 seed in the AL Playoffs, eventually losing in a six-game AL Championship Series against the top-seeded Houston Astros. New York averaged an MLB-best 5.8 runs per game while allowing 4.56 runs per game.

Looking at some notable splits, the Yankees went 32-16 in games decided by five or more runs … 18-19 in one-run games … 38-22 over their first 60 games and 54-22 against AL East foes. The Over went 88-77-6 in Yankees games; that figure was buoyed by a 48-31-4 O/U record on the road.

New York Yankees offseason

New York lost reliever Dellin Betances to the New York Mets in free agency and starter CC Sabathia retired. Also gone are SS Didi Gregorius and DH Edwin Encarnacion.

The biggest plus on the addition side is right-handed starter Gerrit Cole, who will anchor a rotation with question marks and without RHP Luis Severino (Tommy John surgery). Other welcome “additions” would be healthy returns to action by the likes of OF Aaron Hicks (59 games in 2019), OF Giancarlo Stanton (18), OF Aaron Judge (102), and 1B Luke Voit (118).

New York Yankees 2020 schedule

The Yankees are slated to play in an all-East regional format, with the team playing each AL East foe 10 times — for a total of 40 games — and the remaining 20 games coming against NL East opponents. Looking at last year’s 54-22 divisional mark and taking away what were some lackluster trips to the Midwest and West Coast, the abbreviated “COVID-19 schedule” seems to set up well for New York.

How many games will the New York Yankees win in 2020?

The Yankees O/U win total is tabbed at 37.5 with both the Over and Under carrying -110 odds. There isn’t a ton of upside value in the OVER play, but there’s enough there to include New York in a parlay of 4-5 teams.

New York Yankees World Series odds

New York is tabbed at +400 to win the Series. That’s a solid play for an organization with a ton of depth in a year where the 26th man (and perhaps the 46th man) will come into play more than any other.

New York Yankees playoff odds

The Yankees are listed at -323 to win the AL East. The win total and World Series odds have better value.

Betting 101: How to bet on the UFC for beginners

Looking at the various sports betting options centered around UFC, with betting advice, tips and definitions of key terms.

Wagering on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) can be very lucrative for bettors. We’ll take a look at ways to minimize risk while maximizing profits, especially for the bettor looking to dip their toe into the mixed-martial arts betting pool for the first time.

UFC betting: Ways to bet

Access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list of today’s sports betting odds and lines.

  • 2-way betting: Each individual bout can simply be wagered upon picking a straight-up winner, similar to a moneyline bet in the other major sports, with a favorite and an underdog.
  • Method of victory: If you like a fighter to win, but perhaps he/she is an overwhelming favorite, you can be more specific to mitigate your risk. There are a few different ways a bout can end. A fighter can win on points, either a unanimous decision, split decision or a majority decision. The fight can also end in a draw, or tie. In addition, you can bet on a fighter to win via submission or a KO/TKO.
  • Round betting: Fights which are either preliminaries or on the main card leading up to the main event/co-main events are three rounds, while main events are five rounds. You can choose a fighter to win in a certain round and/or you can bet the Over/Under on when the fight will end. For instance, if you feel the fight will go the distance, you would bet the Over.
  • Double chance betting: One of my favorite betting props is double chance betting. If you are particularly interested in betting a fighter who is also a submission specialist facing another fighter with terrible defense, you might take the favorite to win by submission and points. If he doesn’t win by submission, but wins on points, or vice versa, you still win.

UFC betting: Key betting terms to know

  • Favorite: The fighter who is more likely to win the fight will require more than your return on investment.
  • Underdog: On the flip side, this is the fighter not expected to win. It can be more lucrative than taking the favorite, as you will return your stake and plus-money from your wager.
  • Push or Draw: A wager which ends in a tie, which is not a losing ticket, but not a winning ticket, either. You simply receive your wager back.
  • Chalk: This refers to a heavy favorite. For example, -200 and higher is considered heavy chalk.
  • Parlay: If you were to bet two fighters to win on the 2-way line, for example, you would need to win each end of the bet to cash. You can still win a parlay if one end wins and the other is a push.

UFC betting: How do odds work?

Mixed-martial arts odds can vary greatly. Sometimes the favorite is not terribly steep, but other times, particularly in undercard events, the favorite can have rather high odds. For example, if you were to bet an overwhelming favorite at -750, you would need to risk $75 to profit just $10. An underdog wager at +190 would profit $19 on a $10 bet.

Betting 101: How to bet on the MLB for beginners

Looking at the various sports betting options centered around the MLB, with betting advice, tips and definitions of key terms.

In the single-game framework, baseball is the most unpredictable of the four American major professional sports. It’s also the most frequently played, with each MLB team playing generally 27 times per month for a six-month period from April to September. For the bettor, high frequency and unpredictability make for a great deal of excitement, whether betting a single-game outcome or season results. Below, we take a look at definitions of key sports betting terms and how odds work in the many ways to get a piece of MLB betting action.

MLB betting: Ways to bet

Access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list of today’s sports betting odds and lines.

  • Single-game betting: Individual games are broken down into a moneyline, run line, or Over/Under. Bettors can back one of two sides of each line.
  • Live betting: Get action while the game is underway with lines adjusting almost constantly based on which team is winning or dominating play. In-game injuries and big early leads can drastically affect the lines and odds.
  • Alternate lines: When looking to bet on a game, it’s always wise to look at all of the available options on the alternate lines. These can offer either a greater profit margin or a higher probability of winning the bet.
  • Futures betting: Place bets in the offseason or at any point within a season by backing a team to win the World Series or the AL/NL pennant or their league, or to win a certain number of games. Player awards such as the league MVP or Cy Young Award are also available as futures. Odds are adjusted throughout the year based on team or player performance.
  • Prop bets: Get single-game action on in-game events, like total runs plus hits plus errors in a given inning, a yes/no on the game going into extra innings, or game firsts (strikeout, hit, home run, etc. …)

MLB betting: Key betting terms to know

  • Favorite: The team the market identifies as the most likely winner. Starting pitchers often play a role, here.
  • Underdog: Conversely, underdogs or dogs, are the team the market tags as most likely to lose.
  • Moneyline: The most common bet type – simply pick one side or the other to win the game. Moneylines typically look for a team to win a game, but five-inning and other lines can be found, each changing the end-point of the wager and the calculus of the odds.
  • Run line: The favorite is tagged with the stipulation of winning by a margin of -1.5 runs. With roughly a third of all MLB games decided by a single run, this wager type changes the odds – sometimes flipping a moneyline favorite to a run line underdog.
  • Total or Over/Under: A line set for how many combined runs will be scored in the game by the two teams. Can be a full game or a five-inning total for a single game or a component of a prop bet (example: Over/Under 17 total strikeouts in a game).
  • Push: A wager not won by either side. MLB games can’t end in a tie, but bets sometimes can (the Over/Under is the most common push in baseball betting).
  • Chalk: Referring to odds on heavy favorites. The odds are generally so low as to not be worth betting as the profit margin is too small to warrant the small risk.
  • Parlay: Combining two or more bet types from the same game or across multiple-game offerings. It increases the total odds, but they’re extremely risky as all plays need to be correct for a bet to win. The more bets included, the higher the payout, but the higher the risk.
  • Teaser: Buy or sell some runs on a run line or a total bet in order to get better odds or increase your chance of winning with lower odds.

MLB betting: How do odds work?

Baseball odds on the moneyline generally range from -250 to +250, but one of the lures of MLB betting is the preponderance of plays in the -175 to +175 range. The more even margins typically mean less of a takeout on the sportsbook end. A $10 bet at -150 would return a profit of $6.67 on a win. A $10 bet at +150 would return a profit of $15 on an upset win.

All bets are paid out shortly after a game finishes, with those funds being allowed to be placed on new bets or be withdrawn from the sportsbook.

First-time MLB bettors should note how expected pitchers (starting and otherwise) for a game can drastically change what the normal team-vs.-team odds would be in a vacuum. Recent trends, matchup histories, variable strengths and weaknesses based on pitcher handedness and venue, and injuries all play into how a game is priced. Finding small market inefficiencies can be profitable when plotted against a daily slate of 10 to 15 games each day.

How many games will the Cleveland Indians win in 2020?

Previewing the Cleveland Indians’ MLB win total and World Series odds, with MLB betting odds, picks and best bets.

The Cleveland Indians saw their three-year dominance of the American League Central come to an end last season when the Minnesota Twins rose up and won the division. While the Indians parted with a few key parts in the offseason, they still have a roster capable of not only making the playoffs, but potentially winning a series in the postseason.

Today, we focus on the Indians’ 2020 regular season win totals and World Series odds. Do the Indians have what it takes? Let’s analyze:

Cleveland Indians 2019 wins

While the Indians did not win the AL Central in 2019 — nor did they qualify for the postseason — they did win 93 games (and their 49 home wins were more than the division-winning Twins).

Cleveland Indians offseason

The Indians moved two-time Cy Young winning RHP Corey Kluber to the Texas Rangers in an offseason deal. However, he is 33 years old and is coming back from a major injury, so it might not be as big of a deal as some might think. Cleveland played the majority of the summer without Kluber, and fared just fine. The Indians also added a few key offensive parts — such as OF Domingo Santana — while keeping all-everything SS Francisco Lindor. OF Delino Deshields Jr. will give them some nice speed and C Sandy Leon is an underrated depth addition — as is 2B Cesar Hernandez, who essentially will replace the departed Jason Kipnis.

Cleveland Indians World Series odds

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Sunday, Feb. 16, at 7:40 p.m. ET.

The Indians (+2200) aren’t among the favorites to win it all, but they’re nowhere near the bottom, either. In fact, Cleveland has the fifth-best odds in the AL, and they’re not far behind Minnesota (+1400).

How many games will the Indians win in 2020?

The Indians are a solid play on the OVER 85.5 (-125) wins. While the White Sox made some major roster improvements inside the division, the Indians will still earn double-digit wins against the lowly Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals, while teams like the Boston Red Sox are also down quite a bit. In fact, the Indians could get out to a rather quick start with their first six games at home against the ChiSox and Tigers, and their first four road games against the Tigers.

Their interleague schedule is a little worrisome, particularly in May when they face expected contenders such as the Cincinnati Reds at home and Los Angeles Dodgers on the road, but June is where the Indians really could make some hay with a rather favorable schedule. This team could have 45-50 wins by the All-Star break.

How many games will the Chicago White Sox win in 2020?

Analyzing Chicago White Sox projected wins for the 2020 MLB season.

For a team that finished 17 games under .500 in 2019, the Chicago White Sox have a lot of positive buzz heading into spring training. They undertook a three-year roster rebuild that started in 2017 and there is a growing sentiment that with the investment they made in the offseason, they’re ready to make an upward move toward the Indians and Twins in the A.L. Central.

Chicago White Sox 2019 wins

The White Sox won 72 games last year, but were hovering around .500 for the first three months of the season before collapsing in July (7-17). They finished 26-30 beginning on Aug. 1 and showed resilience as their young core players didn’t fade down the stretch.

Chicago White Sox offseason

The White Sox increased their payroll by $50 million a year with the signing of LHP Dallas Keuchel, C Yasmani Grandal and DH Edwin Encarnacion. Throw in a trade with Texas to acquire OF Nomar Mazara and the White Sox added a lot of talent without gutting the current roster or the farm system. This doesn’t look like a team that is in rebuild mode anymore.

Chicago White Sox odds to win A.L. Central Division

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list.
Lines last updated at Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.

The White Sox are getting a lot of respect from the oddsmakers at BetMGM at +350 and, in our view, Chicago has the talent to jump past Cleveland. But the Twins are going to suffer a collapse for the White Sox to catch them because Minnesota has added even more power to a team that set the Major League record for home runs last season. Chicago is four deep in the rotation with Lucas Giolito, Keuchel, Reynaldo Lopez and Gio Gonzalez. The number here doesn’t give the return some think it should, so a small bet would make sense here because if Minnesota takes a backward step, 90-92 wins could put Chicago in position to contend.

Chicago White Sox World Series odds

At +3300, the Sox are getting nice return, but it will be gauntlet to get out of the American League, especially as a wild card. Even if they beat out the Twins in the A.L. Central, there are still the Astros and Yankees to contend with in the postseason. They went 14-19 against those three teams last season. PLACE A SMALL WAGER ON THE SOX and package it with a couple of other mid-level long shots and take your chances. Next year, this number will likely be much lower.

How many games will Chicago White Sox win in 2020?

The combination of starting pitcher depth, having three switch-hitters in the starting lineup, employing the defending AL batting champion (Tim Anderson), and adding veteran leadership in Grandal and Encarnacion is enticing. Throw in 34 games with the struggling Royals and Tigers and Chicago could start banking wins like Minnesota and Cleveland have. My over/under for Chicago is 88.5, so I’m all over their BetMGM number of 83.5 (Over -139 / Under +115). Currently bettors have to invest more (-139) in the over for the Sox than any team in MLB. It’s for a valid reason. TAKE THE OVER.

How many games will the Philadelphia Phillies win in 2020?

Analyzing the Phillies’ projected wins for the 2020 MLB season.

The Philadelphia Phillies were one of the most disappointing teams last season after landing superstar Bryce Harper in free agency. They’ll try to bounce back by making the playoffs in 2020, but that won’t be easy in the tough National League.

Today, we focus on the Phillies’ 2020 regular-season win totals and World Series odds. Does Philadelphia have what it takes? Let’s analyze:

Phillies 2019 wins

The Phillies finished fourth in the NL East last season, going 81-81. They fell apart down the stretch, losing seven of their last nine games. Injuries and a suspension to Odubel Herrera had a big impact, as did Harper’s struggles in his first season in Philly.

Phillies offseason

Gabe Kapler is out as the Phillies manager after two seasons and Joe Girardi is now in charge. The team’s biggest moves this offseason came with the signings of RHP Zack Wheeler and SS Didi Gregorius, but it was a relatively uneventful winter for Philadelphia, otherwise.

Aaron Nola is back as the top starter, and OF Andrew McCutchen’s return from injury will provide a boost. Catcher J.T. Realmuto will look to follow up a strong 2019 season, too.

Phillies odds to win NL East division

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list.
Lines last updated on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET.

The Phillies have the third-best odds to win the division in 2020 at +310, behind the Braves (+190) and Nationals (+250). The Mets are close behind at +330, too. Philadelphia has as good a chance to win the NL East as any of those three other teams, given its balance of power on offense and talent on the pitching staff.

Phillies World Series odds

The Phillies are +1800 to win the World Series this fall, tied for eighth-best in MLB. If they can stay relatively healthy and the rest of the NL East comes up short of expectations, the Phillies will be in contention in October.

How many games will Phillies win in 2020?

BetMGM has the Phillies’ win total projection set at 85.5 games. Philadelphia hasn’t won that many games since going 102-60 in 2011, but the team has won 80 and 81 games in each of the last two seasons with less talent than it has now.

The Phillies’ schedule won’t be easy, having to play in the NL East, but it’s easy to see them getting to at least 86 wins in 2020. Harper will be more comfortable in Citizens Bank Park and the arrival of Wheeler should improve a pitching staff that had a team ERA of 4.53 last season – the closest team in baseball to the league average. Take the OVER (-106) with the Phillies.

How many games will the Miami Marlins win in 2020?

Previewing the Miami Marlins’ MLB win total and World Series odds, with MLB betting odds, picks and best bets

The Miami Marlins languished not only at the bottom of the National League East standings in 2019, but they were one of the worst teams in all of baseball. They turned the keys to the car over to younger players, and it was sink or swim – apropos for a team nicknamed the Marlins.

Today, we focus on the Marlins’ 2020 projected regular-season win totals and World Series odds. Do the Marlins have what it takes? Let’s analyze:

Miami Marlins 2019 wins

The Marlins managed just 57 victories against 105 losses in 2019, worst in the National League and third-worst in the majors. It marked their 10th straight losing season and saw them lose the second-most games in franchise history (only the 54-108 campaign in 1998 was worse).

Miami Marlins offseason

The Marlins looked like a disaster on paper last season. They parted with All-Star backstop J.T. Realmuto last offseason, and the roster was full of misfits and no-names. This offseason, the powers that be constructed a roster which looks to be a little more competitive. The addition of 2B/3B Jonathan Villar solidifies the top of the batting order, 1B Jesus Aguilar, an All-Star in Milwaukee in 2018, gives the Marlins some power in the middle of the order, and INF Sean Rodriguez gives the team depth all over the infield. RP Brandon Kintzler was also added, and he figures to close out the rare wins. C Francisco Cervelli is a nice depth-piece addition, and OF Corey Dickerson gives Miami a nice, cheap bat for two years. Hey, even OF Matt Kemp could be a steal if he still has anything left in the tank.

Baseball season is right around the corner! Get some action on this season with a MLB futures bet at BetMGM. Sign up at BetMGM now!

Miami Marlins World Series odds

The Marlins (+100000) share the longest odds with the Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals, so don’t expect any parades down Calle Ocho anytime soon. Still, this team should make some improvement in the standings.

How many games will the Marlins win in 2020?

I like the Marlins to go OVER 64.5 (-110) wins and avoid back-to-back triple-digit loss seasons. They have smartly added some offense and veteran leadership, and they have a slew of talented prospects ready to make their make in South Florida, too. This team won’t jump up and be remotely close to challenging the Atlanta Braves or Washington Nationals, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Marlins flirting with 70 wins in September, either. They’ll be a tough out down the stretch when other NL teams are trying to position themselves for postseason seeding, and the Marlins might actually have their fans looking forward to 2021.
