UFC Fight Night 239 Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay: Ovince Saint Preux leads with $21,000

UFC Fight Night 239 fighters took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay, a program that continued after the UFC’s deal with Venum.

LAS VEGAS – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 239 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $189,500.

The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

UFC Fight Night 239 took place at the UFC Apex. The entire card streamed on ESPN+.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Venum’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2391 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $42,000 while title challengers get $32,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

UFC Fight Night 239 video: Thiago Moises calls out Dan Hooker after barrage of leg kicks leads to TKO

Thiago Moises scored just the 17th leg kick finish in octagon history at UFC Fight Night 239, then made a passionate callout of Dan Hooker.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Thiago Moises[/autotag] scored the 17th finish in UFC history stemming from leg kicks on Saturday when he put away promotional newcomer [autotag]Mitch Ramirez[/autotag] at UFC Fight Night 239.

After failing to score a choke in the first round of the lightweight bout at the UFC Apex, Moises (18-7 MMA, 7-5 UFC) methodically picked apart Ramirez (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) until he dropped from damage to the legs in the final frame, forcing the referee to step in and wave off the action.

Moises was fired up after the stoppage, and said he wasn’t pleased about being placed on the early prelims after his original matchup with Brad Riddell fell apart.

The Brazilian doesn’t appear interested in rescheduling that fight, and instead called out a bigger finish in Riddell’s teammate, Dan Hooker.

I was supposed to fight Brad Riddell, but he got hurt,” Moises told Michael Bisping in his post-fight interview. “Thanks for Mitch for stepping up on short notice and taking this fight. This is f*cking disrespect for me I’m the second fight on the card. I’m a main event fighter. So Dan Hooker, let’s get it brother.”

LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie was on scene at Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series 69 event.

Dana White’s Contender Series cards see prospects fighting for the opportunity to sign a UFC deal, with UFC president Dana White on hand to make the decisions.

The fourth episode of Season 7 saw 10 fighters compete for their shot at a UFC contract. A welterweight contest between Mitch Ramirez (7-1) and Carlos Prates (17-6) served as the featured matchup of the five-bout lineup.

Also on the card was Yousri Belgaroui (5-3), a former Glory Kickboxing standout who competed against both Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. He took on Marco Tulio Silva (9-2).

The weigh-ins took place at the UFC host hotel in Las Vegas and lasted less than 15 minutes. The UFC Apex hosts Tuesday’s card, which streams on ESPN+.

‘TUF 31’ contestant recalls being told he was replaced by Conor McGregor fighter before show began

Mitch Ramirez says he experienced “such a blow” when Conor McGregor had him removed from “The Ultimate Fighter” before it began.

[autotag]Mitch Ramirez[/autotag] was on Cloud 9 when he was told, after a 10-day waiting period, that he’d made the final cut for “The Ultimate Fighter 31.” But then [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] touched down in Las Vegas, and that changed everything.

When McGregor arrived in February to coach opposite Michael Chandler, the former UFC two-division champion wasn’t alone. He brought his own fighters with him and, as a result, Ken Cross, Brandon Jenkins and Ramirez were pulled from the show before filming started in order to make room for McGregor’s handpicked guys, according to MMA manager Daniel Rubenstein.

It’s something McGregor later denied, but in an interview with Fight Fluency, Ramirez recalled being told by one of the producers that he was off the show for that reason.

“What he told me is that, ‘Conor landed today and brought two of his guys with them. He’s demanding they’re on the show. He has the prospects. Unfortunately you have the least amount of fights on your record, so you’re being replaced,'” Ramirez said. “To me, that was just such a blow, such a nut shot.”

Ramirez was stunned (“what the f*ck” were his words) and said he’d already reached out to his mom and family to let them know he wouldn’t talk to them for six weeks while he competed for a UFC contract. He asked if there was anything that could be done, but the show’s producers apologized.

Ramirez never heard from UFC president Dana White or McGregor directly about the decision. He tried not to take it personally, but it was hard.

“Here’s the thing: I get it,” Ramirez said. “I understand who Conor McGregor is. I understand the way business works. I’m smart enough to understand that it wasn’t personal, personal, but it is personal because it’s my life, dude.”

Ramirez, 30, is a perfect 7-0 as a professional, which includes knockouts in his two most recent wins for XMMA and Tuff-N-Uff. He doesn’t have a known upcoming fight.

“TUF 31” premiers Tuesday, May 30 at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+. The entire season will unfold with with one episode airing each Tuesday for 12 weeks.

‘The Ultimate Fighter 31’ rosters revealed, includes eight former UFC fighters

Check out the 16 fighters who made the cut for “TUF 31” – including eight former UFC fighters.

“The Ultimate Fighter” is back for a 31st season, which will be coached by lightweight stars [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] and [autotag]Michael Chandler[/autotag].

Set to debut May 30 on ESPN and run until Aug. 15, the series will include men’s bantamweights and lightweights, as first reported on MMA Junkie’s “Spinning Back Clique.” Filming began in February in Las Vegas.

McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) and Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) will square off after the conclusion of the series at a date and location yet-to-be-determined.

In addition to an announcement of rosters Saturday, the promotion announced the upcoming season will have a theme of “Redemption,” which pins former UFC fighters against rising prospects.
